I havent forgot about anyone, we are still working out the kinks... Desperado,Send me a pm and we cant work something out for a three phase lift(the motors cost around $200 so we will be able to knock that cost of the lift)and have a unit available maybe late this week. I live over in Galena, if you are in Johnston, you are not far from me. We have one phase unit just able setup and ready. I will try to have digital pictures this week on this unit. We run into several problems(the biggest one was that we didnt get all of the pulleys for all five units), so we been working with the people we got the lifts from to get the remaining parts. What I have learn from this process, is that we are going to have each lift built & operational for the buyer's inspection at our shop in Delaware. Then if he wants it, pay for the lift and take it with you or we can deliver and setup at your location(for additional cost). We have one single phase motor presently and have an order out with our machinest to built the correct collar for the each motor so the drive gear will work. I will be going back to NJ this Friday to pick up the additional parts that we need to get the last units together. I also have the opportunity to purchase two Champion two post lifts, so we many have two more to sell. Thanks and I will keep you guys posted... Rick

    2 Post car Lifts

All, After 8 hours driving to NJ(15 miles from Staten Island), two hours of loading the trailer, 10 hour drive back to central Ohio, 2-1/2 of sleep once I got home, 1/2 hour to drive to work, 8 hours at my 'real' job, driving back home and eating, spending time with the wife and kids, adds up to 25 hours of no sleep. Anyhow, this is what panned out. We brought back 5 Benwil 7000 lbs cap 2 post lifts. These are the 'good' lifts that are used at the big dealerships. They are in pretty good shape. Each lift weighs over a ton. This was one interesting drive home with five of them on the trailer. My partner has already unloaded them in our warehouse and started the process of setting them up and making sure we have received all of the parts with them. We are going to replace the 3 phase motors with new single phase ones. Once we have them working, we will have three for sale. Since we have the equipment to move and install these units, we will offer this service for an additional cost or the buyer can put the lift up(we have fork trucks on site). Presently, I dont know the price will be yet but we are still hoping to be around $1500 or less.

Dave, You are right. If that doesnt work, I will replace the pump motor with a single phase unit. -Rick
  11. I recommend M&M Head Service in Delaware. They do excellent work.
  12. All, I am on a road trip Monday to NJ to pick up 5 2post car lifts. These lifts are in very good shape. Once I have them here in Ohio I will post info about them in the the "For Sale" section. I am keeping one for myself and the others will be for sale. I dont have a price yet because they currently run on 3 phase electric and I will need to convert to normal household current(110 or 220). I am expecting to sell for under $1500. graemlins/thumb.gif
  13. According to my Chilton book for my Cutlass, there were four versions of the 455 (at least for the Cutlass) in 72. 455(4bb)= 225 horsepower@3600 rmps 360 ft torque@2600 rmps. 455(4bb)= 250 horsepower@4200 rmps 370 ft torque@2800 rmps. 455(4bb)= 270 horsepower@4400 rmps 370 ft torque@3200 rmps. 455 W-30(4bb)= 300 horsepower@4700 rmps 410 ft torque@3200 rmps. For $200, I would buy it. [ 19 June 2002, 10:08 PM: Message edited by: Just a Cruiser ]
  14. All, I have been working on my 78 Z-28 and I need some brake lines and rear quarters. So I have two questions. Does anyone sell the prebent brake lines? I am looking for something that is affordable. I have a connection at NAPA and the lines that they sell are not prebent but are affordable. The second question is related to quarter panels. I need to purchase two rear quarters. Does any have a good recommendation on where to buy. I don't really went to pay too much for shipping unless the product is that good. I have bought some quarter panels in the past from a restoration vendor(I will not name the place) that were junk(hard to weld due to the metal being thin). That is another story, I sold the car and made a few $$$. I dont mind if the parts are GM or another vendor. What does anyone think about Midwest Fender? If all else fails, I will hit the Springfield Swap Meet and buy there. I havent bought any panels about five years. Thanks, [ 27 February 2002: Message edited by: Just a Cruiser ]
  15. All, Thanks for the info. I was starting to get a little sad that a local track was going to close. See ya in the 1/8th mile..
  16. I had built a 350 Olds(for the 79 Cutlass), a 427 Chevy BB(for the 69 Chevelle) and next is a 383 small block for my 78 Z-28... A friend and I built a 406 Chevy and I would never do that again. The small block 400 has heating problems. If money was no object, I would buy a 502/502 crate engine.
