    High Power Volvos

My wife has an 850, but no turbo...
  2. Welcome back, I take you had a busy summer/fall.
  3. Welcome, it is nice to meet another C3 owner. What needs to be done to the C3 back on the road?
  4. Here is my take on drifting. Drifting is not racing. It is an excuse for someone who doesn’t have a properly tuned car for optimum performance. Why take the money to build a ricer? I mean build a car up to reduce performance? A drifting car can get owned by a stock Honda accord in a 'real' race event. For what I understand, drifting came from Japan where race tracks and space is limited. We have space in the US, so we have race tracks and space to use our machines. For these people that spend the big money and put many hours of time into their car, I would think a better use of time and resources would be to build a nice SCCA car. This car could 'walk' the 'talk' and be able to perform better than a stock vehicle without any rice. Any of my cars with bald or even a decent tires can break loose when I nail it(except for the Volvo). I just dont understand. The whole concept of the event(this not racing, because it is a judged event) by 'slipping' by losing tracing is through corners is interesting. It is cool to watch in the movies, but that is just about it for me. The only thing good about it is that it is automobile related.
  5. I dont go to too many Mustang forums, but I do check out stang.net.
  6. Another highlight for the NBA. The way the NBA is going, they will run themselves out of business.
  7. You dont need a loaner phone for GSM in Europe anymore from VZW. Verizon Wireless has dual mode phones, I tested several of them(Samsung A790, and Motorola A840) Worldphones and they worked fine. The Motorola also is a camera phone with 1.2 megapixels. The problem with GSM is you need more towers than a CDMA based network for coverage. Back to the original question, Akula, you have your numbers ported more easily with VZW than others. Okay, I am done being on my soapbox...
  8. I am not familiar with the term of 'AWS network'? Is this GSM by any chance? Nextel and Cingular have a lot to do to caught up Verizon Wireless's network for coverage, availability and throughput. I have the baseline tests to prove it. This stuff will not enough touch EVDO(next evolution data only), Verizon Wireless is releasing EVDO in Ohio(Columbus, Dayton/Cincinnati) in late December. EVDO is on air in CA, IL and MN. CDMA(2000) technology is the way to go in bandwidth and wireless spectrum.
  9. mileage, condition, rust, does it run?

    Lasik

I am considering LASIK. I cant remember the person on CR that had it done this past summer. I would like to know how the procedure turned out. Are all side effects gone? I have about 20 friends that had the procedure done and they are happy with it. Of course there are some issues(driving at night, etc). Most of my friends went to TLC and the other three went to Dr. Robin Beran. I have been doing a lot of research concerning this and would like to know if anyone on CR had a 'bad' experience. I have appointments with Dr. Robin Beran and TLC on Tuesday for an overview. Everyone says their procedures was excellent, but I have concerns with dry eye and the degree of ghosting and starbursts. I have some of these issues wearing contacts, if the starbursts are not any worse, no problem. I have worn glasses and contacts since I was 15 and now 20 years later I considering the 'big' move. Thanks, Rick [ 25. October 2004, 07:40 PM: Message edited by: Just a Cruiser ]
  11. I might stop over for that. I wont be entering anything though. I will stop over and check out your 67.
  12. Verizon Wireless is the way to go... Best coverage, best network, best equipment period.. I am testing a new Motorola that supports both CDMA & GSM that rocks, wait until December when EVDO is released. EVDO is much faster than Road Runner/DSL and is totally wireless. [ 17. 13. BootedGTP, I noticed from the picture this is from Gentile's Vettes. Are you Bud's son I spoke to awhile back concerning some vette parts? I noticed there are no vettes or parts left there. Who did you sell them too? Thanks, Rick
  14. Looks good. Why would you do a full off body restoration? If it is all original, it will be worth more as a survivor. Get a NCRS book first before you and your dad start. If you have any vette questions, pm me.
  15. Update!! The NAPA line (Martin Senour) worked great. I sprayed my bottom door on my Z71 and was easy to mix, dried quick and looks great. The paint match looks excellent. My truck is a 97. I would recommend and use Martin Senour again on my next job. I used to PPG paint because I had a hook-up, but he has retired, so I dont get the good discount that I used too.
  16. I would stick with the PPG line of paints. PPG is expensive paint. Get the code and anyone(paint jobber or some body shops) should be able to mix it. I use PPG DP 90 as my etching primer and use DZ3(the PPG filler primer) and then use the DBU line. Tomorrow, I am trying out a different brand (NAPA line) of paint for a spot repair on my Z71. This the first time I have/will use another brand of paint besides PPG. If this doesnt work, I will then re-spray with PPG.
  17. The wife and I went out and saw Harold & Kumar and thought it was a pretty funny flix. FYI, The actors that played Harold & Kumar were Ohio Staters and they also wrote the movie.. We dont out to movies much, this one was worth it.
  18. Nice, I still think it would be hard to let go of the 02 Camaro SS though... -Rick
  19. Is this sponsored by QSL or a club? I might have to get the vette out. Is this any other CR Vette owners going?
  20. Talk to Glassburn in Westerville. They do excellent work and he works on vettes and boats. Glassburn Autobody

    IT Crash

I worked at Worldcom/MCI for 5 years up until 2002. I was able to leave and take another job at VZW before I was rif'd. What area do you work in? I worked with Cisco routers and the StrataCom BPX/IGX/MGX's on the 'CompuServe' ATM/Frame Relay network. -Rick
