oh, and if all else fails, buy an aftermaket points dist, wire up an completer stand alone ignition system, them get a megasquirt. not cheap, but not to teribly expensive for being able to fuck with all the timing and fuel variables

not sure if it would or not. since you are getting fuel, it know the motor is turning, so the sensor is doing its job, unless there is more than one sensor that tells the computer the engines position. if there is a seprate sensor in the dist that is supsed to give the ignition signal, it could be bad. break out the scope and the wiring diagram, start looking at the signals while it is cranking. see where the signal stops, then you have most likely foind your bad part.

is it getting fuel? cam position senor maybe?

hold on a sec. it had a factory oil filter on it, so what. if i remember corectly, they charged you for an oil filter when they replaced the oil pump, so damn skippy it should have a factory oil filter on it. a newish one unless they charged you for a new one and didnt put it on. also, they would have put fresh oil in it when they had the pan and crap off to do the pump. wonder why the sediment in the bottom of the pan didnt tip them off that something was about to let lose.

youre, like, fucking kidding me right? 43k on original oil? on the brighter side, an oil change every 3000 would have cost about 300 plus time per change and gas to drive to the shop to have it done. for that many miles, she saved like probably 400 bucks on oil changes to put twards the swap.
