  1. IIRC the word "shit" was uttered once, this isn't Scar Face. . Profanity doesn't really bother me in such a small dose; my kid is going to hear that stuff throughout his entire life, and even as a 3 year old he knows not to say it. Sheilding your kid from it is like trying to keep them out of the sun; you're doomed to fail. Better to moderate and control their exposure as best you can, and make sure that they know that those words are bad.
  2. I'm not sure why it wouldn't be a family film. I didn't see anything in there that I'd hide from my kids eyes. What did he say specifically? They never even showed Christina Riccis bust. People not familiar with the show are probably going to be saying "WTF?" every 10 minutes. There's some inside quips throughout that look gay as hell without knowing where they come from. It would be the difference between an lol and a WTF.
  3. Addendum; Racer X's car looks better than the Mach 5, but I cant find any shots of it. Bloody politics.
  4. Liked it. There are a few ways to go into this movie: -Expecting Speed Racer, having seen the show -Expecting a racing movie -Expecting a fine film If you go in expecting the show, you'll enjoy what you're watching. Expect the other two, and you'll probably be annoyed; with the exception of some faint profanity, it'll come off as a kids flick. But shit, Speed Racer was a kids show, and it was pretty much a "fantasy" racing show at that. -The plot wasn't too complicated, but it was more than I expected. -Graphics shifted at the directors whim. Some graphics were top-notch CGI, others were deliberatly poor to make it more "campy". -The racing... don/t go just for the racing. My one complaint is that it was almost exclusively drifting, cuz it's hip now, I guess. The fast bits were accompanied by crazy camera movement, so you couldn't quite focus on much. As a kid who watched speed racer, I'd give it 4 out of 5 stars. The drifting kept it from getting 5. As a jaundiced movie critic, I'd probably give it 2 or 3 out of 5. Keep in mind, the show is actualyl horrible. I would watch it religiously as a kid, but I can't sit through 5 mons of it now.
  5. Hey Look, It's All Those Things That Everyone Tells Me Is Cool!
  6. Best 42y.o. in history, period. Still has the eyes/look of a 20 year old... she must be a collosal idiot.
  7. Can I do interpretive dance instead of playing an insrument?
  8. Never press any button ever. What agency does one report this kind of crap to?
  9. EPA always "estimates". A mousy sprit in new running order, I could believe 50mpg hwy.
  10. The M1 already exists, kind of a long gap in production if this is supposed to be a continuation. The new one looks like... http://www.aquacatcruises.com/images/4605_fido_nurse_shark_young_one.jpg Different kind of shark nose.
  11. I didn't say it wasn't fast, I'm saying that calling it the "real Ferrari" when compared to the Stradale is false.... ya punk kid. lol If Enzo had to choose which he'd rather build, it'd be the Challenge car. The only Ferrari that's less "Ferrari" is the Scaglietti. Those two cars are almost *gasp* German-like.
  12. How about I just give you "a peice", will that work?
  13. You can't discuss one without the other. It seems you're just harping on semantics now.... I guess that means you've conceded defeat?
  14. Actually, Enzo only built road cars to support racing. So, The Stradale is the real Ferrari, the 599GTB is just soemthign for the rich Punters to spend money on. Building wind tunnels costs money, you needto sell something that incompetant footballers can drive.
  15. That is a true and misleading statment. Of course 1 USD will alsways = 1USD. The amount of work the USD will do is constantly slipping. The world is flat, we can't escape the effects of what our dollar is doing out there. Bushes actions are the actions of any politician in his postion: No one wants to be another Hoover. Creating destructive policies and "simulus" packages are their way of passing the buck on to the next generation. "I don't want my name in the history books next to The Second Depression". Subsequently, they are making the end result (depression) worse and more difficult to recover from. We may be putting it off, but the end result may be something that we cannot recover from and remain The United States of America.
  16. Stop looking soley at the cash dollar GDP line on your econ-hippy optimist chart and start looking at the debt and it's relation to it. They're getting closer together. If you don't want to call that Recession per Websters dicionary, fine. "We are not in a recession at this time". But the trend is bad and getting worse, I think we can agree on that.
  17. lol that's cute. You're focusing on a very narrow portion of a big big graph. 2 steps forward doesn't count as growth after taking 3 steps back.
  18. I didn't list any relavance, I didn't even say the recession is getting better or worse. I jsut said we're in one, and have been for a while. The meddling is what creates the fluxuations (as well as consumer confidence, but that's a psycology discussion), up-down-up-down, but the slope is still a downward one. Also consider that this isn't just economics, it's macroeconomics. The last great depression was world-wide, and the next one will be, also. The world is ripe for it, it's not going to take much. Everyone is in debt on things that are depriciating rapidly. Everyone is saving because they cant afford to spend. Engery costs and demand are both rising Food costs are begining to reach problematic levels All we need is a few costly natural disasters, a long and expensive military campaign, and bunch of people pulling their money out of the market... ohh I dunno, like say a massive generation of people who are retiring and cashing out. That could never happen, right?
  19. Umm yes, that was the point. It's going to happen, stop trying to patch it and let it sink. These artificial credit-driven booms that everyone calls "stimulus" are going to kill us in the long run.
  20. The ecomomy is sliping and WILL NOT STOP untill it bottoms out. All this shit we're doing is just slowing it down, but at great costs and effectively lowering the "bottom -out" point. The more we fight it, the worse it will get. We need to let it fall, as quickly as possible, and start back up from zero. It is the only way we will ever have a strong economy again. The great depression only lasted about 10 years, we've been fuxing with this reccesion for 20, and will continue screwing with it indefinately. Let the K car die, then replace it. History is repeating itself, this has all happened before, and government interference and attempts to "prop up" the economy only made things owrse and made the path to full recovery more difficult.
  21. Sounds like something a woman would do.
  22. Wrong question. I think what you're asking is; Can one be happy in just being content, rather than happy by getting everything they want. The answer is yes, a definitely yes. It's harder to be happy when you get everything you want, true story. "You'll be happy as soon as you realize that you can be happy." Similar to the old "He who knows he has enough is rich." [quote name=moparmuscle What would you guys do?[/quote] Never ask that.... especially here. You're the only one who knows what to do.
  23. http://www.forgottenoh.com/page1.html Right thar.
