Not really. This is the first major accident they've had that looks to be caused by the repaving (or more specifically, from the process of repaving). The flying Aston was caused by brake failure or something related to the car. Most other accidents I've seen, either on TV or watching at the track, were caused by wet weather or old fashioned driver mistakes.

Yeah, this explains why I saw 3 cobras on 23 today near Upper Sandusky. The first was was being driven by an old woman wearing a big floppy hat with flowers in it. I certainly got a chuckle out of that site. Oh, and Mallard is correct about that yellow car. Information on it was posted here a few months ago.

Edwards was certainly in the wrong in this incident. It even looked like he intentionally turned into the BMW. He shouldn't have been driving so hard considering the guy he should have been more concerned with was already behind him. Also, the way that mound or whatever he hit was placed made it look like a stunt out of a damn movie. I'm suprised he was able to just walk (well, crawl) away from it.

The latest Car and Driver has the story on this year's Cannonball event. I'll keep an eye out for that car when I get around to reading it.

Odd question: Anyone know where I could find a torrent file of the entire race? I realize it'd be huge, but so worth it to be able to download and watch the entire race, since I missed it. I tried looking last year but had no luck. I imagine people wouldn't put in the time and effort to create such a huge file.

I don't think there were any supercharged cars this year. The only forced induction vehicles had either twin turbos or a single turbo.

The GT isn't exactly new. They've had plenty of time to get a race effort together. My guess is that they would rather spend their money on racing that gets noticed by more American fans than the ALMS.

True, new diesel standards are being put in place for 2007. I read in Car and Driver that only one manufacturer will make a US bound car that complies with the new standard. But, VW is stockpiling diesel cars to sell into next year. Anyways, I got to miss the race again this year, but I figured this would be the outcome. I just feel bad for Kristensen not getting to keep his win streak going. I am glad a Corvette got past the Astons to take the win, though.

It stands for 40 inches, as in the height of the car. I, too, would really love to see a Ford GT racing. Some would say it's for monetary reasons, but I doubt Spyker has nearly as much money as Ford does, even with Ford falling on hard times. One question: is this Spyker factory backed, or being run by a private team? I almost can't wait to have a car payment cause that means I'm finally making enough money to afford a faster, newer car than what I have now. I'm definitely jealous of all the new acquisitions here, especially the guy with the Viper.

I'd pick the STI, as well. All reviews I've read comparing the two say that the Evo is less comfortable. I like the looks of the Subaru better, too. It'll still perform really well, but you'll be able to drive it longer without getting tired of it. And if you really don't like the big wing, wait for the Limited Edition, like SpaceGhost posted.
