  1. I'd rather tell him what I want to pay now, than claim dibs and shaft him later when I show up with $25 exactly and say "Oops, I thought that was the price!"
  2. Angry. That engine is angry.
  3. Home for lunch and I just looked at the video. Makes more sense to me that the "colony" would be established before humans came. Rovers would need to also be doing some valuable exploration to justify the cost of setting up the colony before humans could visit. I like the idea, and it can be done - note that the arrays and bubbles are likely algae/plant greenhouses to generate food and oxygen (since Mars' atmosphere is primarily CO2) - but the 7-month travel time is still a killer in my book. We're going from no colony on Mars to a multi-unit establishment with no history of habiting Mars. It's a huge leap. I guess the big problem with the Moon is the lack of an atmosphere of some sort to provide some radiation protection, for long-term human habitatation. I also worry about contamination on Mars; who knows how germs will fluorish in a totally new environment?
  4. He wants more than just his ego stroked. Just thayin'...
  5. http://www.columbuscarsandcoffee.net 8am-12pm - Cup O'Joe, Lennox Town Center Cruise from Easton @ 8:40am Tell your friends! After two weeks' away, I'll be there for sure.
  6. I've got my truck, and I'm getting RID of my fender antenna. F the factory AM radio. I'm gonna put a 2-channel amp under the dash, and have a 3.5MM headphone jack-to-RCA cable so I can play an Ipod through it. Problem solved. Like cable TV, radio isn't giving me a lot of reasons to keep it around, aside from NPR. It's like asking CR "Hey, does anyone know a good wagon wheel maker for my RX7?"
  7. I used to be really into science/space technology before I started a family...do we have the means to reliably renew all the resources (air, water primarily) for a Mars habitat? Mars is awesome, but I would think a Moon colony would make a little more sense, given it's proximity to Earth...far easier from a cost/logistics point to manage.
  8. Scary bird pen1s. Just another gift from the internet. What is seen, cannot be unseen.
  9. It happens in Herpi Derprabia.
  10. That's a sweet FR-S, dood!
  11. No, because: 1) It's a spoiler 2) It's $1200
  12. Good points, guys...just because an older car has seatbelts retrofitted doesn't automatically mean they were fitted CORRECTLY!
  13. I have a family, so out of respect for those I'm responsible for I want to be available in case I'm needed. We don't have a land line at our house, but I can't imagine functioning without a cell phone. Maybe if I was single, with a desk job...I could probably pull it off.
  14. I woud never put my child in any vehicle without at least a shoulder belt (EDIT: until she gets big enough for just a lap belt!). If an older vehicle is retrofitted for only a lap belt, I'd put her in a car seat with shoulder harnesses. My '80s trucks all had shoulder belts, no airbags. My original topic was in regards to much older cars, open top, with retrofitted seatbelts/4- or 5-point harnesses. Depending on the thickness of the straps, a full back booster seat accepts shoulder belts.
  15. I understand about airbags and small kids (force of deploying airbag can dislodge a child's head from the spinal column)....I'm simply asking if a kid in a car seat can be buckled in the front of an older, open-top car. If the older car didn't have seat belts originally, there would be aftermarket belts installed for safety.
  16. In looking to my next project, I'd like to know what laws in the state of Ohio prevent a child from sitting in the front seat of an older, pre-airbag vehicle (pre-1965). Obviously I don't want to hear from people how unsafe this would be...just wanting to verify that a seatbelt would be sufficient for buckling in an approved booster seat, or if this is illegal. Thanks!
  17. http://www.naplesnews.com/news/2012/jun/05/transit-of-venus-viewing-tonight/ I'd like to go anywhere locally that may have a filtered telescope. Thought it might be interesting for my daughter to view! Next one won't be for 105 years...I'll probably miss it. I checked NBC4i, but I swear that station reports nothing but bad news. Any local schools or astronomy clubs setting up outdoor viewing stations?
  18. I go to HD since it's close to my house, and have never had an issue with the crowd there. Granted, I'm an old man and stay true to the adage that "Nothing Good Happens After Midnight". There are some quality CR members out there, and up until 12am people keep their stuff in check. Heck, I've walked the grounds and spoken to a few people about their cars from time to time. However, hoodies will be hoodies...if HD starts turning south, it will do so quickly and I'm sure it'll be shut down soon after that for car guys.
  19. I think his bawls will survive reentry. Since brass melts at 1600-1700*F, The article is correct in only being concerned about water in his body.
  20. COPTERPUSS in 2012 CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN
  21. Clearly the Dutch have the technology to rebuild it. Attach a couple of miniguns to this cat and I'll betcha the outcome versus a car would be different this time around. /sixmilliondollhairpuss

  23. ABO 2012. Sorry, the man had his chance. I miss the days when people and corporations had faith in the U.S. government.
