  1. Seems like he takes immediate and appropriate actions to me. Yes, if he (again) takes action, he will. There's not a clean team in any sports at any level. Especially in football where rosters are a kabillion people deep. You're bound to have a few bad eggs. We just don't hear about all of them. That's what I like to see. My team or not, if a player acts like a fool and does something drastically stupid they should be canned. If it's something minor, suspension or fine. This was acknowledged here:
  2. You'd be surprised Stebe. As much as I hate to say it, since we teach a free women's self defense seminar monthly, this seems to be the case. Oh, and at Clay.
  3. Or the possibility that any more we see maybe 1.5 days where the roads are somewhat slick and never any snow in the winter anymore. LOL. Do whatever you want Clay. As far as driving back without the fam, hey, at least you can drive a little more spirited.
  4. Bingo. At first I wasn't taking very good care of mine. I've since gotten rid of the Passat and the Jetta is currently getting an overhaul to make reliable again. Starting off where she is though (and with low funding) she's gonna have a bad time.
  5. That's nuts. Here's a pic of my distant cousin and his boy. Cuz is 6'8" I believe and at the time of this pic his boy was 4 years old. Tested for gigantism and any other medical reason he is so big. Everything seems legit. He eats fairly healthy and doesn't eat more than other kids his size. Docs say he's in good health as far as vitals go. At 3 he was too big to ride any kiddie rides at Kings Island. At 5 he fit pretty well on a full sized quad. Could reach all controls and the like (no, they didn't let him run one himself). The kid is awesome and loves life. He's just...huge. Already, at 6, he's 2/3 the size of hiw 17 year old brother (yes, biological). http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=654&pictureid=7249
  6. From someone owning an 01 Passat and 02 Jetta, both with the 1.8t, if she is low on funds and bought that car with those probs, she bought the wrong car. Not trying to be a jerk. They're just fairly high maintenance. Get on the Ohio VW facebook page. That'd be a good place to start.
  7. Makes potato sense. Think about what you're saying. People who live 5 miles from work ARE safer than those who live 30 miles from work, mathematically speaking of course. We're not talking the exceptional road trip. If you are truly wanting to compare apples to apples you have to compare a 5 mile commute DAILY vs. a 30 mile commute DAILY. With your twisted logic, if I were to drive 30 miles to work 5 days a week, but 5 miles to a store 1 day a week, I'd be more likely to crash on the 5 mile trip. Again, sure it COULD happen, but mathematically the 300 miles going to and from work on a weekly basis would make me more prone to an accident than the 10 miles weekly. Cliffs: Longer DAILY commute = more risk. Shorter daily commute = less risk.
  8. Agreed. Pretty soon all that will be left is soccer. :gabe:
  9. Didn't work for me but I was using ear buds and currently have some sort of inner ear infection in my left ear. Will try again after it clears up with better headphones.
  10. He already stated he would be modding it to add safety features. Not that it would be AS safe as other options, but I doubt he'd let her go without seatbelts.
  11. Would they not be statistically? Driving 5 miles one way everyday means far less time on the road than driving 30 miles. Less time on the road means less time for an accident to occur. Not saying they can't, that would be absurd. Example: If I am on fire for 5 seconds I'm more likely to be better off than 30 seconds. If I'm trapped under water for 5 minutes I have a much better chance of living than 30 minutes.
  12. These always crack me up. 77% of accident occur where we spend 95% of our time? You don't say. If we rarely travel outside of that perimeter the odds are drastically decreased. In other news, most accidents inside the home occur within the home 84% of the time. I personally don't think it's a bad idea. Show her that video so she understands. No, it won't prevent another idiot from hitting her, but it will make her think about the things she can control. Same principle my BIL (SSgt USMC) took with training his 3 young children the difference between there toy guns and daddy's hunting guns/service pistol. At a VERY early age he took them out hunting tree rat and turkey and showed them the difference between what a real gun can do vs. there toys. They saw first hand that life was ended and know they aren't allowed to mess with daddy's guns. He keeps them stored safely and locked up, but he still took the time to instruct them properly. Do the same with her and this truck and enjoy the time with your daughter.

  14. Haha. Yet they gave his full name and the area where he lives. Media...lol.
  15. You...killed him and your inlaws...with one stone?
  16. My guess is food. No, I'm not being a jerk, I mean REAL food. That's all that works for me anyway. Organic. Avoid sugar. No preservatives. Gluten free an GMO free. "It starts with food." Some of the best advice I've ever received.
  17. Much like 90% of the other crap on CR. ...I love this place.

  19. Sounds VERY similar to my situation, except I started at 6'1", 421 lbs.
  20. Don't get down on yourself DJ. 40 lbs is awesome. Most people are gaining or just staying stagnant. While there weight may be low they're by no means fit. Also...stahp. We don't need another "CrossFit vs. everything else lol" debacle. CrossFit works for some. Get's them moving and when done RIGHT with the RIGHT coaches (my Krav gym coaches both have degrees and come from power lifting backgrounds so they're not JUST CF certified and teaching poor form leading to injuries) the results are phenominal. That being said, if you're wanting to get into power lifting of any sorts, do what has been said and lift. CF can be good for cardio, endurance, and getting the heart rate up but you don't learn to sky dive by mud bogging.
