The joist hangers used on the foundation in this pic. EDIT: Ope. Shaun got it.

Looks pretty good. Kudos for building yourself. Why the extra hardware on the base?

I haven't voted for the 2 party system since W's first trip.

HOA wants us to remove part of our new driveway

I would've said, "if they come in my yard they'll end up on my plate. Which would you prefer?" -
Thanks. No. They'll be black. The "cream colored" ones are actually white and look a little too "Santa Claus'd out". lol. Those were gonna get painted black if we used them.

Same. This truck has been in dads garage my entire life. Every step closer I get a little bit more excited. Been emotional too without granddad and papaw so we're looking forward to it being done. Dad just stopped by my place while I was WFH. We talked it through and if all goes as planned the tires will get mounted and wheels put on monday, it'll get pulled back into the pole barn, and all the running boards, bed, and all the little odds and ends will start getting put on. Should be totally "done" by next friday or saturday. ...finally.

I also realized the new TV we got upstairs that the wife picked out is a Hisense Roku TV. It's also been great. Zero issues.

The 15x5's and those tiny tires just didn't look right. Had to get some 15x7's. Thanks to Derek for answering a bunch of silly texts about wheels and tires long after he's been out of the game.

Two wings, one bird. ...if only there were another option.

Gonna come back to this thread just to say, I can't stand Trump, think he's pompous, arrogant, without, and a poor leader, but Greg has now convinced me to vote for him. Wow.

That's definitely the very same thing OP is dealing with and an apples to apples comparison. Thank you for your input. It has served us all so very well and we are all in debt to you for your service and your wisdom. That's not YOUR land that YOU paid for, that's gubmit land you acorn. Mow your grass and cut yer hair ya hippie. -
...that's pretty good. Almost makes me want to buy it even though I don't need it. I have a 55" Hisense in The Kilns. It's not new and flashy or the highest def but it is, like, 6 years old and still works great.

To be totally transparent, up front, and honest, I'm not the smartest man alive nor am I the best trained to assess this situation. I, like every else here I believe, can only play armchair QB. I THINK that training LEO's and others involved in handling situations involving mental health issues MIGHT help, but I can't prove it. I THINK that sending social workers WITH LEO's to potentially help deescalate situations MIGHT help, but I can't prove it. How would I handle the situation? I don't know. I have not been trained in situations such as this...and I'm guessing most (if not all) in this thread weighing in haven't either. I have no experience...and I'm guessing most (if not all) in this thread weighing in haven't either. So, if my assumptions are correct (and they may not be), we're ALL just playing armchair QB and acting as though we have the answers when the reality is we have no education and no experience on such matters. I cannot speak for everyone here but in my profession if you come in with no education and no experience your opinion means very little...just as mine (and presumably everyone else's) does here. So, in my uneducated opinion, I feel as though something is systematically wrong when the answer is, "kill 'em first, ask questions later." I am also someone who has trained in and trained others in self defense, believe in 2A, and understands the "21 foot rule" (again, as I have acquired the skills and licensing in the past to train others in hand to hand combat/defense). Maybe that answers your question, maybe not. I just know that to me personally it feels as though something is wrong with the system and training. Again, I'm not smart enough to have an "answer" to correct that. I honestly don't know that there IS a clear cut answer. I just know that statistically our country seems to have a lot more issues with things like this than most others.

That's a nice opinion and assessment. This shows that something is systematically wrong.

Is Billary will never go to jail I bet ol' creepy uncle Joe won't either. This. ...wut? Please provide examples where Clay has, as you claim, "celebrated folks struggling financially due to the financial impact from covid." Also, please show me where Clay's response was even directed at Greg's question. I lol'd at the rap battle vid. What a couple of jokes. I say this with zero sarcasm or ill intent: please show me any politician who isn't a "Trojan horse" with others pulling the strings.

Yes, that's exactly what I said. It's not hard to understand. I would not agree to buy that home. Thank you for the Kerryfication. Would you or any others buy a vehicle under the stipulation that someone else dictated what color it is, what gas you put in it, what mods you can do (ope, warranty folks), etc? It's just not in me to allow some other schlub to tell me how to live my life so long as I'm not hurting others. YMMV. -

HOA LOL. Zoning LOL. Building codes LOL. I just don't get how someone else should be allowed to tell you what to do on land you own so long as it doesn't affect anyone else or their property value. Buncha Karen's who are power hungry. I'd tell them to pound sand...but I'd also turn down a killer house if it involved being in an HOA. It's bad enough that you get taxed when you buy property/a home and then continue to get taxed annually even if said property is paid off. My aunt bought a nice condo in a nice community. She had a damaged door so she had it replaced. The morning after the new door was installed she found a note tape to her new door that it wasn't the proper color. She left for work and came home and someone else had painted it. Screw that. Stay TF off my property. If you have a problem talk to me. I'll be understanding enough to have a civil conversation but don't modify/change/remove something I own if it's not hurting anything. She also had the HOA try to tell her she had to pay for a new roof even though hers and 70% of the community's didn't need new roofs just because the rest had some storm damage and they were afraid they wouldn't match. Just...lol. Best advice has been given by Jesse but I wouldn't do a daggone thing myself. There's my 1 cent. It's not worth 2. EDIT: This right here is the absurdity of everything. Someone else telling YOU what YOU can do with what YOU bought. Just...lol. Get out of here, HOA Karen's. -
Thanks fellas. Bed wood (:masturboy:) actually isn't even done yet. That's just the stain and only 2 coats of the finish we're using. It's gonna get 5 then smoothed out so it should look even better. I can't wait to see it all together. If all goes as planned this Friday/Saturday the truck will get "done". A little over a week ago dad said, "I should be done in, oh, two weeks if all goes well." I asked him what his SN was on CR. He didn't get the reference. That's ok. I chuckled. "Two weeks." I've heard that one somewhere before.

:lolguy: Like...like Trump was? This again. :lolguy: Well, I'm sold. Two wings, same bird. This thread has proved nothing more than nobody's mind is changed unless they change it themselves and folks on both sides of the fence act like kids at times with, "nuh-uh! You guys do bad things!" The bumper sticker thing made me lol. Some good thoughts/takes and fair points, but overall this thread has accomplished exactly what it was intended to. #dontvote2020

Getting closer.

Need I remind you of several vehicles you have bought that were priced similarly and could be described the same?

...but I still don't want to go into this game assuming anything.
