  1. Open and honest. I respect that. Even in 1994 I didn't and still wouldn't put a Supra and a Lambo, Ferrari, etc. in the same category. Nope. Top tier sports car...like the Supra. EllIIot is a supercar. 2 doors FTW!
  2. I think this is a phenomenal idea. I have nothing to run on that track but I'm only about 10 mins away. lol
  3. That's a bingo. Yes, it was compared to supercars in that it was an affordable alternative for folks that couldn't afford a supercar. More bingos. I would say not only stock performance/capabilities but price tag, stigma, etc. I had a business meeting at The RAM in Dublin last summer. I pulled up and immediately noticed a Lambo sitting out front. So did everyone else. Folks were taking pics of it, talking about it at the bar, etc. Pull up in a new Supra and get out with a popped collar and some $40 budget sunglasses and everyone is gonna know what the deal is with the douche driving the BRZ. Car guys did and will take note of a 6 speed turboed Supra. EVERYONE takes note of a supercar.
  4. On mobile now which sucks but this is hilarious. Drive a Supra or VR4 to The Ram or somewhere downtown. Car guys MIGHT take notice. Drive a Lambo and EVERYONE takes notice.
  5. I'm not defending so much as trying to figure out what "car guys" qualify as a "supercar" especially when that opinion varies from the cultural norm. Fair enough. I'm just going by the definition as it's laid out in front of me. In my opinion my opinion doesn't matter if it doesn't match a definition.
  6. So that bumps the Supra further down the list of "super"cars. So it's a supercar because it was fast enough to at least be on the same track then?
  7. That's fair and I think I get where your coming from now. It still, in and of it's self, does not make a supercar though, does it? I mean, rarity is just one facet of a supercar, right? The roof is cool and insanely expensive but if the car doesn't perform like a supercar (again, Lambo, Ferrari, etc.) is it not just a really cool sports car with a really rare option? You literally just defined a sports car from the links all of us have shared. lol It's def fast but not supercar fast without mods. It's not ALL that rare. In 1994 were we more likely to see a Supra or a Bugatti? More rare than an Accord? For sure. Rare in the scheme of supercars? Not as much. Performant? Yup. Pretty much so for 1994. A slew of vehicles are performant that aren't supercars though. Fanboys? TIL: Civics are supercars. I give credit to you that you have a skewed opinoin. :gabe: I give mad credit to Toyota and the Supra, my fav car pre-F&F, for being an amazing sports car. One that I and others could actually obtain. I personally don't know many people who can afford a supercar. Fair enough but even at the time I never saw a Supra on the same page (poster if you will, lol) as Lambo's and Ferrari's. Shrug.jif. /discussion. As I said in the Nupra thread, supEra.
  8. 1994 VR4 info. Interesting to read. Had a 1/4 of 13.5 and did 0-60 in 4.9. Impressive. Does a $20k roof option (thus ridiculously increasing the price) make it a SUPERcar though or is it just a rare SPORTS car? Dunno...to me a roof option to increase the price doesn't matter. YMMV.
  9. This all makes sense. A supercar doesn't "have potential". They don't NEED modified to be considered great. The MKIV was and is a stellar platform and it's been proven what it can do time and again when built but it IS built to get there. If that's the standard than JP's Colt's and what not are super cars because they too (obviously) have potential. Supercar-like != supercar though, right? So because it's rare it's a supercar? If the performance is failing it's still a supercar? Not arguing, it's just real hard to understand what y'all define "supercar" as when things like a 3000GT and similar come into play. I cannot in my right mind consider it on par with a Lambo or Ferrari which are (arguably) the 2 most well known supercars in gen pop and they're not even always the most "super" or "hyper". To me the Supra's, RX7's, etc. are GREAT sports cars and DEF have potential to go FAR beyond factory specs but to place them in a category with elite vehicles is a tough pill to swallow. If thinking that a 3000GT or Supra aren't equivalent to a Bugatti, Lambo, or Ferrari, makes me wrong I'll own that one any day and say I'm wrong...but it doesn't make sense to me. I think my fav thing I've discovered through all of this is that there is a difference between SUPERcar and SPORTScar...and that line gets blurred based solely on opinions I guess.
  10. The 3000gt is a supercar? I mean, there's others on that list that certainly aren't supercars but...lolwut?
  11. Weren't any available. Those are all owned by CR members.
  12. I've never felt one so I cannot comment, but I love me some LFA I've never driven and will never own. Muffuggin' SupEra.
  13. Another article that Kerry and I both shared for different reasons ironically enough.
  14. They also don't meet the criteria. My good buddy DJ put ^ this ^ in chatbox followed by: So if 3/3 of the qualifiers are not met then the vehicle is not, by definition, a supercar, correct? Maybe I'm wrong. I thought we had definitions for a reason. If we're leaving it up to opinion then we're all wrong to someone...on everything.
  15. SPORTS car defined. Supra found. SUPER (and hyper) car defined. Supra not found. Shrug.jif I'm only taking a stance based on factual evidence I can find. My opinion is that there are others that are more knowledgeable than I am and they have a pretty good idea of what a super car is. I submit my vote based on those facts given to me.
  16. There's also a difference between a SPORTS car and a SUPER car. Also, the Supra wasn't in the top ten, was it?
  17. Road & Track. Road & Track OBSCURE 90's supercars. Car mag AutotraderLOL. Autowise. Even the Brits know. Gear Patrol. 404: Poopra Not Found. Are these the definitive and best articles/writers? I dunno. Kerry said I can't use opinions of professionals in the automotive field because at one point he was paid to write for both car and motorcycle mags and I wasn't. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Street Dictionary article on the definition of a supercar. To catch CR up with CB, Kerry has argued it is because it's fast, he had a poster of one on his wall when he was a kid, and it's expensive. CB stated simply that the $44k that a 6 speed turbo Supra doesn't equate to the cost of actual supercars like a Bugatti, Lambo, Ferrari, etc, and that posters were made of many non-supercars. We all did agree that it was fast though. Hell, I've always wanted an MKIV just like Howie's. What say you, CR?
  18. I mean, I told a fella who drives a sick camaro and knows I have a $150 truck to, "want better things." I thought for SURE he'd know I was clownin'. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  19. Had to see if anyone else was gonna say it. lol
