  1. Yes, that's the main difference between the aimpoint and the vortex. The vortex had a more intense dot. It's slightly larger ( and I guess blurry-ER) which makes it easy to see when shouldering the rifle. The aimpoint is small and precise. ( which I'm sure is what both companies were going for ), it just takes a sec to find it.
  2. Not Brian, As far as red dots go on 223/556 ar15's. Most 100 dollar red dots won't get killed by recoil. But, to be safe, I think most people try and steer you to something like an aimpoint pro or a baseline eotech for 350-400. I personally have had great luck with a 150 dollar vortex strikefire, and eotech xps2 (400), and an aimpoint pro (375.00). I'd say the eotech works the best, then the vortex, and lastly the aimpoint. The vortex seems to be a cheap copy of the aimpoint, but target acquisition is easier on the vortex. But, apparently the aimpoint can take a big beating... And it's said that the vortex is strong... But not as strong. And then (finally) there are the 1000+ club which include some of the trijicon acogs, Elcans (2-3k), and 1-4x offerings from companies like Schmidt & bender. But these are all out of my price range based on necessity. I have zero experience with them. You also have to be careful of how good a "deal" actually is. The OP posted a 1200 dollar red dot that was on sale for 500. You do have to realize that these are always "on sale" for 700.00. So it's really only like you are getting 200 off.

    Keltec PMR 30?

I have shot a 5.7. It is a really nice weapon. Though, the plastic slide is odd to me.

    Keltec PMR 30?

I have a buddy who has one. he loves it. Says its a really neat gun to shoot. I personally have no experience with one. I'd love to shoot it if you buy it and would gladly trade some trigger time.
  21. Saw that! Seems like a whole lot of gun for 400 bucks!
  22. Almost Everything about the gun (inclusive if the pattern of the parts) is/are pretty much proprietary (which has it's drawbacks when there are no options except for the high dollar HK upgrades, and some geissele). Take a closer look at the gun, it's not standard mil spec pattern. The bore Is uncoated and tapered. I'm sure the colt is chrome lined and non-tapered. The HK has an ambi safety and has a firing pin safety. The upper/rail heights are proprietary/different than all other ar15's. It's wierd, there are only 3 rails that will fit the gun (hk, geissele, remington defense). The lower May remind you of a standard mil spec lower... But it's not, it's thicker, has a more flared magwell, and some other aesthetic differences. The other main difference would be the piston system. Obviously. And, the gas block has a release port. I'm sure I'm missing other stuff too. When I got the gun I took it apart and was amazed at how much different their parts were. Can't run another barrel, rail, only some triggers work, etc... Trust me kids, it's different than a mil spec pattern/dimension gun. I'm not claiming that the differences make it better (well, maybe some if them do...). I'm claiming that it is different. I'm also claiming that it is reliable. I've seen several colts fail to eject, mine has not. I'm sure there is an MR556 out there that has, I wouldn't be so ignorant as to say one hasn't. You also have to realize that Frank is a ball buster. He knows the HK mr556 is superior to a colt 6920.... People like to hate on HK. It doesn't bother me. Frank (I'm sure, jokingly) claimed the only difference was the roll mark. You asked me to point out the differences. I did.
