anything that improves intake flow is usefull without the right heads and good flow on the exhuast side gains will be minimal at best

check the balancer and make sure it didn't walk on the ring if its old and starting to fail it can cuase inaccurate timing

I have a set of 134a guages and the correct fitting on my vacum pump to use them my guages are currently out of town on a job if you can wait till the middle of the week I will have them back

if you have the old style perimiter bolt valve cover heads your intake manifold won't work at all on the new motor. you either need a tpi or a throttle-body manifold from a later model car/truck. centerbolt heads flow better than the ones on your car now but if your trying to go fast ditch um and buy a good set of aluminum heads. you'll save money buying good heads vs porting the stockers and you'll get more bang for the buck.
