Yeah im in a hateful mood towards cars this week. Got a 2 door 4x4 97 GMC jimmy w/ 4.3 in it cracked a radiotor blew a head gasket, and warped a head. Huge pain in the ass to change engines. Actually i should put my misplaced hate for the engines to the side and hate stupid people for not knowing how to maintenance there own vehicles. You are correct intake gaskets have been going on chevy engines for years and it is honestly a simple cheap fix but they are just ignorant and dont pay attention. I sold the g6's new for a while. And honestly they just never impressed me felt cheap and had bunch rattles when used as a rental car. I guess coming from a wholesale end of car retail business i just think that there are better cars for the money then the G6

I should rephrase that i should not call it junk. I run a buy here pay here and we service all our vehicles. The 3.4 has a very common problem of Intake gaskets going bad. It should be a easy fix cause i think it is caused by intake gasket going bad then causing other problems.(cause our customers dont notice it until it has caused other problems. We just have alot of those 3.4s that we have had to do work on. Between it and zx2 escorts we keep busy just keeping them on the road lol. Back on topic. The G6 is a decent car but it shares its main componets with the Chevy Malibu which has had some brake issues. Probally wont have to worry about any major maintenance till after 100k miles. I just think there are better options out there for 11k dollars.

When i was working for Pontiac Dealership in Marion We were selling 07 Pontiac G6 Base model which is power windows/locks automatic 2.2 4 cylinder for 11,995 brand new zero miles. The 3.5 V6 if im not mistaken is based off of the old 3.4 that they put in the grand ams. That i personally think is junk. The 3.9 vvti which is in the GtP model is the same engine they put in the Cadi CTS/Impala LTZ/ and Malibu SS. Its 242hp 242 tq (in that range) they are quick but brakes are horrible. They are nice cars just my opinion even at 11k still to pricey for what they are.

Its a overpriced malibu. Engine options= 3.9 VVti in the high end option.I think they were having some head problems no guarantee on that. Quick car fun to drive. other option i think is the cobalt 2.2 engine and maybe a 3.5 option. They are fun cars but there resale value took a dump in past year. So if your looking for a cheap DD might be a good time for them.
