  1. Then replace the ram with a 2-4GB SODIMM and use windows 8.1 (with Classic Shell). Its a little more resource friendly. A key can be purchased from the Reddit software swap for $10.

Holy shit, if that is legit than I am putting 8.1 on everything I own. We have a couple of Core 2 Duo small form factor PC's we use as HTPC's that could benefit from a slight performance boost and I have been wanting to take advantage of HSA on my main computer.

  2. I plan on getting into Home Automation myself, but will likely adopt devices that support Apple's Homekit protocol since thanks to work I am likely stuck with iOS devices for the foreseeable future.

If you don't want to wait, there are all sorts of products out there that offer that kind of functionality, but its not cheap. Belkin's WeMo smart plugs come to mind and work over Wifi. They are $40 a socket, and can do things like email or text you if a plug is still on (according to the specs, anyway). They also have versions that have a motion detector, if you want the lights to turn off when the kids aren't around.

  3. Reddit and 4Chan mostly. If I have to watch a major news outlet for some reason, Al Jazeera english actually seemed to be pretty unbiased the last time I watched it. Russia Today is a joke though, picked up on an anti-American agenda within like the first 10 minutes of watching.
  4. Now let me give you my story. I was laid off in 2008 when the economy tanked. I wandered from one job I hated to another for 3 years, when I got calls to be rehired from 3 separate people who all didn't know the others had called me. It was also the shortest job interview I had ever had, about 10 minutes, and it was mostly catching up with friends. I love my job. Emerson is an absolutely fantastic place to work with excellent benefits and a pretty awesome atmosphere. I mean hell, we just had a damn car show at work on Friday.
  5. My work has some jobs they are trying to fill and have labeled them critical.

  6. had a similar problem at my mom's old house, and went to Dayco. Dayco sent me around the corner to whatever that industrial supply place is on Silver drive, and I had to buy a new capacitor for $8, yes EIGHT, dollars. Took 5 minutes to install and the AC was working again.

Edit: looking on Street View, I am almost positive that it was Habegger that they sent me to, the place with the "Bryant" logo on the sign.

  7. Food Truck, but in a semi-permanent location.

Not sure if it's still the case, but they were parked at Ace of Cups last time I was there.

Still there. I usually go there after Cars and Coffee on the way back home.

  8. I bought a PS4 at launch full well knowing that there would be a drought of games for a while, and the price drop for Xbox One might be enough for me to finally buy one.

I "changed sides" back to Sony after Microsoft's "Fuck you, consumer" and "Wait Baby, I didn't mean it!" fiascos, not to mention the $100 cheaper pricetag for superior hardware. I'm a gamer though, I was always going to eventually own both. :)

  9. We have WOW 50/5 at our house, which is honestly overkill but my roommates really wanted it. We can download/stream/game do whatever all at the same time without a hickup in service. I think we could have accomplished the same with 30/3 or 15/2 even, but the service has been great. We do lease their modem/router combo, but its only like a couple bucks or something like that. Pretty solid unit, has Gigabit and Wireless N on it.
  10. Ok, I am interested. Looks (graphically) a LOT better than Ghosts. Maybe they finally did truely start using a different engine? Who knows, maybe Activision's new 3 year/3 team dev cycle for the series will produce better games now.
