  1. You might be mixing up his requests. He might be asking for a better graphics card in addition to a video capture device, they don't do the same thing. GeForce 210's are very low range video cards that are good for browsing the web, but that's about it (we use them at work). A video capture device does pretty much whats advertised, it captures video. With the recent trend of game play videos being super popular to produce for youtube, there have been lots of gaming-specific capture devices released. You're best bet is probably to look up video reviews on YouTube. I know a lot of people like the Avermedia Game Capture HD II as a solid low range option.

As for what graphics card he wants, that depends on the games he wants to play. You could get away with a mid range $250 card if you just wanted things to be playable.

  2. AT&T Uverse Caps Monthly Usage at 250 GB FYI. So if you have Uverse internet, you may hit the cap watching everything over the net if you watch a lot.

I've read several places that they do not enforce it, though. Comcast does for sure.

  3. Another big help is how much genuinely good content there is to watch on YouTube now. Even if I didn't have Hulu/Netflix/Crackle/whatever, I have so many YouTube subscriptions that I would still never run out of fresh content to watch.

If you're a car guy and like to laugh while getting good info, I love Mighty Car Mods. Think Top Gear if it were a DIY car show like the shows on Power Block, complete with challenges even.

  4. My roommates and I are internet only. We have WOW's 50 megabit tier, and its fast enough to download/stream/game online/whatever all at once. It's great. Cable is a waste now, especially if you can be patient for a bit until your show/movie/whatever of choice is available online.
  5. I created a new thread because I can't seem to edit my old one.

    30ish MPG, AWD, 2.5ltr flat 4 engine

105k Service done at Northend Wrench Inc on Indianola by Sean (Crossle), that is also where the maintenance records for the car are since I have owned it. Practically unstoppable in the winter.

Winter is coming up fast, if you have never owned a Subaru around this time, I can gaurantee it will completely change your outlook on travel in the snow.

  6. Thanks everyone.

It is really a shame, her life is being controlled by an uncle who lives in Texas and never sees her unless its about business, and her daughter lives in Dayton but it had might as well be Antartica because she never comes and visits either. My mom (her daughter in law), my sister, and I are the only ones who help her out.

Allegedly she has until February, but obviously right at the moment we are focusing on getting through the funeral stuff.

  7. it's a bad week for Alzheimer people... my father passed away on monday from it. (I actually just got home from his funeral) Be glad it was your grand father and not your father... the hole in my heart is unbearable.

My condolences to you, I'm sorry to hear that. I actually lost my dad 10 years ago this month to cancer.

He has had Alzheimers for a long time, but hasn't been himself for the past 5 years or so, so it's probably for the best. As someone who doesn't really care about sports in any way, the family is getting lots of emails from his former players who he recruited and coached.

It's going to be shitstorm after though, dealing with an uncle who is immediately going to evict my grandmother from her home and sell it, while forcing her into a "retirement community".

  9. I got a side question. They offer really discounted MetroFitness memberships at work here. When I was really working my ass off and trying to get over my fear of the gym, I was going to Title Boxing Club, which was awesome but super expensive. I enjoyed it because I do better being told what to do rather than being left to my own devices. As someone who has never otherwise been in a "regular gym" in my life, how do I learn what to do?
