  1. http://columbus.craigslist.org/cto/4871937418.html I have a guy coming to see it today and another on Wednesday - I was hoping to sell it here so I could see what it ends up being.

  3. I will take some this weekend - the pics i posted are not even a year old - no changes cosmetically.
  4. :-) It does have headers and, I think a small cam, so it sounds really nice. I have not pulled it apart but it has a nice lopey idle.

  6. Up for sale is this 1966 GMC C10. It has a 1978 or 79 Chevy 350 / 3 speed auto drivetrain. It was originally titled and lived it's entire life in California (save the last year or so here in stupid Ohio) so it is really solid with very little rust. The frame is where I was most impressed, having looked at dozens of them with pin holes to softball-sized holes in the frame. The Story - I bought this truck for my then-16 year old daughter against the advice of CR. I was blinded by the opportunity to work on it with my daughter which has been awesome. It is just not practical for a 16 year old girl as a daily. I worry about her all of the time. Truck has been reliable but will not fare as well in an accident as a modern vehicle and I just need to put her into something newer/safer (it also only has lap belts). Not to mention putting gas in it on a minimum wage part time teenager job is breaking her ;-) The good: Runs great Unbelievably solid Upgraded to HEI ignition New 600 CFM Holley carb with electric choke Upgraded to Power brakes (discs in front) Upgraded to Power steering Newer battery and most of the accessories were newer when I bought the vehicle Interior already done Good tires all the way around Gas tank relocated under bed (nice racing fuel cell used) What it needs: My next mod was to rewire the vehicle including a new ignition switch. It does not take a key to start as the ignition is just worn. Thankfully the doors lock. The previous owner added a stereo with an amp and where he tied it into the factory harness is sketchy. If left undriven for 2 days or so, the battery will die. Everything but the reverse lights and gas gauge work but I was going to rewire it to be safe. Obviously, it could also use some bodywork and paint if you wanted to make it really nice or just cruise it as is. This is a nice truck, I get compliments on it wherever we go. Let me know if you have any questions. As a note, if I had somewhere to put it I would just keep it for myself as it would be a very fun project. Asking $5,500 Will add some older pics (looks the same) and will take new ones once the weather clears a bit.
  7. Rides good, really? You feel and hear EVERYTHING. For a DD and driving any significant miles I would go GTI. If you want a corner carver definitely go MS3. The GTI is just softer, more plush, and more mature. I loved driving my MS3 but my wife absolutely hated it.
  8. 1979 Chevy C10 longbed - 350 2 barrel, 3 spd auto. Was very clean and much cooler when I cut off the exhaust and put true duals with cherry bombs. One day in high school I decided to skip afternoon classes. I was parked on the street across from the school in front of many windows. For some reason it was acting up and repeatedly stalled. I could not keep it running. For 30 minutes I tried to make a slick getaway...
  9. Hates them - would have loved to get her an S10 or Ranger. Looking at maybe a Mini Cooper
  10. I mentioned above I owned a 2005 GTI 1.8T - bought it new. Owned it 13 months...had it towed twice when it left me stranded. Coil pack in both cases. Easy fix but you don't expect a new car with < 10k miles. Thought my experience may just be unusual.
  11. This is what we did for my oldest daughter (1998 Buick Lesabre) and it worked well. This one is different though - she actually likes cars and cares what she drives. She loves her truck - I was trying to find an alternative she would like. At this point I think we will just finish up her truck.
  12. ...and it will sound 100x better I completely get the attraction to keeping it a turbo V6 but it is really hard to make a rational arguement against this swap.
  13. Then it would not clear the fenders. You would have to tuck then which, to me, would Look infinitely worse.
  14. Ok - at the risk of being called an idiot - what is wrong with the offset?
  15. Well this was helpful and one of the many reasons I frequent the site.
  16. Ok so my daughter is now becoming aware of the fact that a 1966 pick up is not the most practical daily for a teenager (not to mention I continue to worry about her safety). She LOVES her truck but has always been a fan of the new beetle. I came across a decent deal, I think, on an 04 VW beetle turbo with the auto. I had an 05 GTI with the same motor and other than a few cool packs it was a good car. I would plan to do a timing belt swap right away as it has 82k miles and I am not sure they can show it was done. My question is this; Is this tranny as problematic as reviews seem to suggest or is this one of those things where a few unmaintained cars spoil it for the rest of them? Any way to check for issues other than just beating on it in a test drive and checking the fluids? Anything else I should be looking at? I have the VIn and will pull a car fax and see if a VW dealer can pull the records.
  17. Good lord it looks so much worse knowing the outcome. Do you have the transcript from the follow up after the game ?
  18. Come to think of it, we used to race Geo Metros around the lot when I was in high school doing detail work. Their 3 cylinder motor at full wail sounds similar. I am guessing it is because 12 cylinders is just 4x the 3 cylinder.
  19. Screw the CTSv I want a Countach. I am going to start a thread on available modifications
