Yeah it starts out REALLY slow.

 

But I was bored and it was raining.

Uh - Mustang sales are still going up. It ain't going anywhere. Corvette "empire"? No. Exclusivity, yes. Empire? No. The Corvette recently sold it's millionth edition. After 50 some years. The Mustang sold its millionth copy in March 1966. Two years in. Other than a dip in the 70s with that abomination that was the Mustang II, the original ponycar's sales have never seriously flagged. There's a really strong legitimate case to be made that the Mustang is "America's Car", like it or hate it. Its certainly the most consistently successful American car ever sold. And I'm looking around to see what internationally has had a better consistent run, and I'm not finding much...

 

The Mustang's near 1/2 the price of the vette and the Cobra 1/2 the price of the Z06. And they're moving off the lot. If I were selling these things I'd be partying in the carribbean right now.

I don't blame Sony for following the Apple model of locking out competitors. The monopoly allows them to keep their prices up. But since I don't play nearly enough games for me to need a dedicated handheld, I'll wait for some other media players to mature, since thats what I'm looking for - just thought I could kill a couple birds with one stone in the PSP, but it doesn't make sense for that.

 

IMO - buy it to play games and look at the extra features as gravy.

I'm sure we will. You drive whats in your sig? That a Camino or Malibu? I didn't know Chevy made a Malibu in that Camino-ish bodystyle (I had a 1967 and two 1980 Malibus) - so I'd love to see it up close. I'll keep an eye out. My car's pretty low key unless you see it from the front. Its also quiet.

I'll run anybody. But I'm not burning my free time in some east side parking lot for hours to set something up that'll take 2 minutes. Come across each other or meet up shortly on the NW side and I'll play with you. Or grab a bite and a run, that works too. For fun not money. Money doesn't add anything to it for me. I have a much easier+consistent way to income - my job. Just seems to me as soon as you get into all the stuff some guys seem to worry about then it becomes work, not fun. Its also the reason I've avoided playing music for money or working on games for money. Play becomes work.

 

But again, if thats what you enjoy, I'm not gonna knock it.

I had heard the media files had to be digital rights encrypted, and the mini disc format was not standard though the discs may be run-of-the-mill minidiscs. And the plugs weren't std, and the mem modules... scuttlebutt was the PSPs were rejecting "generic" mem sticks.

 

How much of that is people just bitchin on forums then? I appreciate the info.

I'm out dang near every night playing around. I just don't trawl over to the east side to stand around much. I "commute" enough during the week for work. I'm driving around the NW side all the time though.

So is it true this thing uses proprietary disks, plays a proprietary music format, plays a proprietary movie format, uses proprietary hardware (plugs and whatnot), and uses proprietary memory modules?
