  1. I still disagree. More ancedotal evidence: Look at the recent MT supercar challenge. V the winner of the sedan class over the second place EVO and an STi well down the field. That was a mallet car that had just a supercharger and different wheels and tires, plus some suspension bushings. The 4bangers were moddified to the moon. V trounced em. I still think around a road course a V wins. Certainly a fast course like say the Nurbergring where they did all of its tuning. Now, cones in a parking lot, eh the STi would probably take. But then it can have it. The small cars always do well in grocery cart cavalcades. Why would I want to do that? Along the same lines I also don't really need to see how many old cars I can jump n crush after I mount Monster Truck wheels on it. Or see how many moguls I can enduro on my Ninja ZX-11.
  2. Right: Dual mass Flywheel not dual disc. Latenight typo brainfart there. 05s are exactly the same as the 04s except they consolidated the XMRadio and Onstar antennas into one. No mechanicals changes until 07 is the current scuttlebutt. Then maybe either the LS2 or the LS7.
  3. Actually - I'm changing my tune too - keep the sti. (I want the only V on the board) tongue.gif
  4. My cousin-in-law scored it for us from where he worked. It had 16 kilometers on the odo. And it was loaded. So there. tongue.gif Oh yeah, and the stereo in it seemed to have an odd predilect towards playing David Hasselhof tunes all day. *shudder* The horror. Put a good song on, and the engine'd die. The car was crap. no two ways to say it. Oh wait, yes there is: La voiture était la foutaise.
  5. WARNING: Completely biased opinion inbound on an intercept... LS6 - check, but that means not too moddable on the cheap. Clutch - is great, you musta got a bad example. It is a dual disc clutch though, eh refinement over brute force ... Shifter - is better than the 03 Cobra's (*cough* the Cobra shifter sucked eggs *cough*) but then thats not hard to beat. I personally like the position of it, but until I put in the !CAGS skipshfit eliminator (a 30 dollar part and a 2 minute install) I was wrestling with shifts too. There are several shifters coming onto the market for the V, so don't sweat that too much. The V division's aim was to completely eliminate and isolate gear noise which they did, and get it into a good driver's position (not an easy thing in the T56, see Cobra...) which they did. The downside was it required some funky shift linkage mojo. Hence the rubberyness that you may not like. Tires - gotta mention the tires. If you're buying one by all means buy in the spring and then burn them F1 Supercar EMTs Runflat mofos to the threads over the summer! Donuts work. And lots of em. Then, pour yourself a beer and slap a set of Michelin Sport Pilots on there for winter, cuz I can tell you from direct experience these stock tires SUCK IN THE SNOW. Stabili-wuh? Tracti-huh? BS - you ain't going nowhere with these Goodyear F1s mounted. If by driver's car you mean it sucks to be anyone but the 5'9" 160lb driver in it, yeah. lol, JK. But seriously - I'd be willing to bet a V could get itself around a roadcourse faster than an STi. Look at their 1,2 inaugural finish at Sebring, and their tearing up the SCCA SPEED World GT in 04 (three victories, four poles, and five podium finishes). That car's 78% by weight the same as the showroom V. And you're doing so with a MUCH better interior, stereo, options, and well... you don't look like you're riding around in a tracked-up econobox. Also, not sure how big you are, but for me the CTS-V just fits better. I felt like I was looming over the interior of the subbie. And that sucked. Also, I can take CEOs out for lunch in the V and not embarrass myself. Wanna do say a 10 hour roadtrip to Florida in the STi? Yeah right, don't know about you, but me I make it to about Knoxville or Atlanta or so then I'd get out and shoot it. Right after I put my ride-rattled-out teeth back in. Also, anytime you want, you can put on the Nanny-me-less-please Competition Mode, or turn the stabiliTrack and TractionControl completely off, and pull one of these mambos: http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2005-2/944597/Over1G.jpg ...waits for the 1.05G pic from a STi... tongue.gif Plus, everytime you pull over 1G and then post a pic of it on the net, your member grows by an inch. True story. [ 16. March 2005, 12:17 AM: Message edited by: Mowgli ]

  7. Also the easiest. And the cheapest. Gives you a great F/R weight bias. The SC fits under the hood with only a slight bulge required. The body well needs no modification for the T56 tranny or the driveshaft - the existing well fits it fine. There are pickup points for the Cobra's IRS in the rear. This isn't by accident. The SVT team admitted they had "something in mind" in 02 that got shitcanned as a project as Ford picked up other product development... Plus that conversion has already been done by several folks, so you're not doing something different just to be different and sucking up all the costs associated with it. And you'd end up with a car that'd outdrag all but maybe 2 cars on this board, and'd outtrack all of us. (Tires permitting) - even the elitist low power track snobs. - and you 240 guys know who you are graemlins/finger.gif I've got a vid at home somewhere of one of these slaughtering all comers; civics, 240s, 300s, vr4s, couple vettes, even an old clapped out 911 that was hauling ass. In one track outting. All passed like they were standing still (the old porsche put up a fight though).
  8. Well I don't have 206 direct experience but I did have to drive a brand new 407 rental as a daily driver for a month last summer in Holland and I can give you my experiences with that Peugeot. Ready? It was a complete pile. Handled like a wallowing rolling tugboat, had the pickup of a asthmatic donkey, and the interior pieces had felt like low grade tupperware or lego plastic insulting your fingertips while your ass got assaulted by the rental car Grand Am quality velour of the beanbags they called le seats. ...but other than that it was a great car. Nice color. Good trunk. The windows never failed to roll down or up. Thats about it. Hope you have better luck with the 206RC, because that new 407 had all the panache and engineering suave of a Cavalier. Sorry bout that but I am just "Callin em like I see em." Or in this case, sat in em. Drove em? Tortured by em? *goes to happy place*
  9. Its like PeanutButter and Chocolate. Both, separate, are good, yeah. But *together*, they're great.
  10. The faster you go the easier it reads. Neat.
  11. Firefox has a MAJOR security hole. Avoid like plague until they fix it. Big Ass Security Hole. The PARTIAL fix is in Firefox 1.0.1 But its only partial. The rest is : don't follow links from untrusted sources and always manually type in the url in the address bar. Sounds like a crappy ass partial fix to me, unless you don't actually want to surf... Back on topic: This never happens to me on IE, two separate boxes, the work laptop and the home desktop. Both version 6.0.29
  12. Mustang vids only go on the net if the Mustang loses. Its the rule. So unless you lost big - you won't see yourself online.
  13. Not like its helping - downloading these one at a time is kicking my ass - and they're the wrong versions so far 12 for 12. $%^#$ EDIT: On the up side - you just can't download a BAD version of James Brown's "Super Bad". [ 14. March 2005, 10:27 PM: Message edited by: Mowgli ]

  15. Too bad its not a sexy 97+ 2nd Gen, ah well...
  16. Yeeeeahhh, don't think I'm gonna write down 60+ songs on a piece o paper. This be the 2000s. smile.gif EDIT: Ok got the song list from a couple sites - not like its doing me alot of good - having a shit of a time finding these versions. Suppose I could route the audio out to a line in on my rig and record it, but that'd be a colossal pain in the ass. [ 13. March 2005, 11:35 PM: Message edited by: Mowgli ]
  17. Anyone know where to download the GT4 soundtrack? I'd buy the soundtrack CD but the one thats for sale is the Japanese soundtrack, which is completely different. Barring download, anyone know where/if a US compilation CD is for sale? Barring that... anyone have the complete song/title list - so I can be intrepid and set about downloading them one at a time? Thx in advance.
  18. chimps have somewhat like double(?) the fibrous muscle density of humans. a 200-225lb human doesn't stand much chance against a 150lb chimp. or so I've learned on the Nature channel
  19. That and they beat us up on PT. Or was that just me?
  20. Or say in the real world in a job.
  21. Yup. I was a SAY-lure. EA-6B Prowlers off the Saratoga.
