  1. Yup, he came over a hill and there were three patrol cars just waiting. He figured he was in the clear cause he had slowed down about 2 miles earlier, but the cop pulled him over and said that a plane had gotten him.

They measure your speed by timing you over stripes painted on the side of the road, no radar is used, so your radar detector is useless. Kind of a fucking joke, just to give people speeding tickets.

  2. That's funny cause I have a 94 Taurus with a tranny that I'm looking sell. It has a blown head gasket (!), but I had the tranny looked at about a year ago by ATS Transmission in Marysville and they gave it the green light, if you are looking to buy one.

BTW, I would also recommend ATS Transmission for repairs. They do quality work and are very friendly.

  3. You can get a pretty decent used NSX in the 20s to 30s. Not bad for an "exotic" mid-engined car. It has plenty of power, but is not stupid fast. Like Wease said, they are best for road racing, but also for looking pimp.

The only thing that sucks is the service costs. A friend of mine just bought 91 NSX and he's been looking at service costs (just for fun): $21,000 for an engine and $900 for the alternator! I thought my RX-7 was expensive to mod!

  4. First, thanks for all the replies so quick. I've been busy trying to get the car running for this weekend. (Are you going, Berto?)

Second, the rust is not that bad. It is just starting to rust on the holes for the spoiler, and a little bit of cancer under the mounting surfaces. That's why I'm reluctant to replace the whole hatch. I might take it to work and have one of our paint guys look at it.

  5. Cause its not that bad (yet). It is only localized to under where the spoiler is, and the hatch is in otherwise good shape. By the time I buy one, pay for shipping, and then pay to have it painted (even if it's red it won't match right), then have it installed, it won't be worth the time or the money. If I can fix the hatch I have, I would rather do that.
  6. You know, the little bubbles that form on your paint when you have rust brewing underneath.

I put a stock spoiler on my Mazda September of '03. I found out this weekend that it is leaking because the gaskets on it are old and bad. So I took off the spoiler to investigate the damage and the holes are all rusting out! I filed most of the surface rust out, but there is still some cancer left. (This is in an area that is covered by the spoiler still.) Not knowing what to do, I did a band-aid fix and applied some clear silicone around the holes, and reattached the spoiler. I don't want the cancer to turn into rust because it will most likely spread to the rest of the hatch. How do I prevent this from happening?

Also, where can I get some more gasket material to put in between the spoiler and the hatch? I checked at AutoZone and they didn't have any. Would a body shop carry that kind of thing? Thanks for your help.

  7. Three dozen Ohio counties (including Franklin, I believe) fail to meet the EPA's clean air standards for soot and smog. One of the countermeasures that is being considered is E-Check. Noooooo!!!

Sorry but I don't have access to the Dispatch Online, so if somebody wants to cut and paste the text, that would be great.

In other news, its warm outside and I'm going to (hopefully) finish putting my car back together.
