There are better tires available out there. If you don't drive your car in the snow, these would be your best bet. If you do plan on driving your car in the snow, these are the tires you should get. Kumho's...Comparing them to the first tire, they are not as good, yet not as expensive. So if you don't drive your car in the snow, the weight of the price difference -vs- quality of the tire will depend on you. If you do drive your car in the snow, the 2nd ones I posted are going to be the ones to go with.

I'll probably catch me a couple silver ones in the near future.

Well, I didn't plan on changing the gears back to 4.10's anyways, I was just seeing what people thought on the subject. I'm going to be putting headers on hopefully in the spring, so I'd need a shallower gear like the 3.55's anyways.
-
The off the line thing is what I was wondering about. Most people that change their gears to get great track runs, mainly on slicks, which is why I was wondering if the type of tire made a difference. But since the 3.55's have better top end, would the outcome be reversed from, let's say, a 40 roll?
-
With my 4.10 gears, I was hitting the rev limiter in 4th just as the win light came on. This was netting me 12.3's on street tires. So Chris, you're telling me that I would run 12.6's with the gear that I have now? I would think, given the power my car has, I wouldn't need help from gears to get me into my powerband, and therefore the top end power of my gears in 3rd and 4th would be enough to gain back and gain some ground on whatever was lost in the first two gear from the steeper gear. I mean, my 4.10's obviously got me to the top of 2nd quicker than the 3.55's, but that's only 60-65mph with the 4.10's and 75mph with the 3.55's. I mean, we'll see the results next season, but since I do plan on putting headers on, I'll need the higher gear anyways. But at the Modular Shootout, I don't remember any of the 5 or so faster than me with 4.10's.

My dad always gets on me about changing my gears back to the stock 3.55's and says the 4.10's made the car faster. He thinks of there was another car just like mine with the same HP and same skilled driver, the other guy with 4.10's would win. I think the opposite. Anyone wanna shed some light on this topic? What exactly does changing your gears do i.e. what happens when you go to a higher or lower gear setting? Would the type of tire you were using have an effect on how well a certain gear worked out? I really would like to get this figured out.

Yeah, I may be interested in a place like that as well. My tires have some scratches from curbs on them and wouldn't mind getting them repaired. How long does it take for a job like this to be done? What kind of price do they charge?

Nevermind. Seems to be working now. Weird.

For some reason, I'm missing part of my internet explorer window. Like, when I maximize any window (like this site for example), I have a small strip between the top of the window and the "start" toolbar (which has been moved to the top). That space just shows my desktop or if I have a folder open and maximized, I can see the top of the folder. As a result, I'm missing a small portion of what should be at the bottom of a page. Like, on the home page of this site, all the way at the bottom, I can't see the word "morons". Would simply reinstalling IE6 or whatever version fix that? Help me out. graemlins/thumb.gif

Longtubes, lower pulley, dynotuned chip, and more rwhp/rwtq than an '03 SRT-10's engine. After that, my car will pretty much be done. graemlins/thumb.gif But as far as the run is concerned, all you have to do is make it out one Friday or Saturday that it doesn't rain. Our cars love cold weather.

OMG!!! Way to go, Paul. You've got more grunt, I've got less weight. Let's go!!!
-
Well, folks, apparantly there was a tad too much shit wrong with the car and it'll be too expensive for him to pay for the car and the shit that needs to be done to fix it. I'm pretty sure he's not getting the car now.
-
I would say "yes", but I haven't driven the car or anything (doubt she'd let me anyways smile.gif ), so I don't know for sure. I would probably guess "yes" but since I don't know, what do you have in mind if it is only more than 50% throttle? Less that 50%?
-
Well, it's not my car thankfully. However, because it isn't, I don't really know much about it, only what the owner told me. It's a 2000 V6, btw. She said she let a guy at Firestone drive it to see what he thought. He said it sounded like the heat shield was loose, but apparantly they checked it and it wasn't. If it was a loose part, wouldn't it rattle during braking or cornering or something? She said it only happens when she gets on the gas. So yeah, a transmission problem is one possibility, rear end another. Could Ricart take the car for a spin or something, run a diagnostics and locate the problem for sure? Most of us high school kids (yeah, she's in one of my classes) don't have the income to spend money to have something looked at or fixed that doesn't need looked at or repaired, ya know? Hopefully it's not a major thing like the tranny or rear end...any minor things it might be? You mentioned the code check. Is that something that can be done at a dealership?
-
What might cause a rattling/vibration sound when and ONLY when you hit the gas? On cruise control, when braking, etc. yields no sound like that. Any ideas?

Now that I saw the engine bay of the car, I'm not really sure if those pipes are the ones he's talking about. Brodi, if/when you get the car, get a picture taken (or take one yourself if you've got a camera handy) of the engine bay so you can better explain it. The picture I posted looks a little less cramped in the front part.

Soon2B300Z is a buddy of mine. He took a look at the engine of the car today and called me from work, wondering what the hose things coming from the front of the car to the engine were. I found this picture: http://www2.freepichosting.com/Images/56451/4.jpg I'm guessing the 2 silver pipes/hoses coming from the front right (left in the picture) of the car to the center of the engine. What are those?
-
He has to have more than that done. I've got pulley, chip, cat-back, CAI, and X-pipe and only making 9/15 more than him. Though, the stock Cobra's dyno all over the place, so I'm willing to be I got one of the low end ones. tongue.gif After this week, I'll have the stock gears back in, then one day put longtubes and a lower pulley on it and I'll be set.

Damn, man. You're JUST shy of my numbers, what all do you have done to that?
-
He said Ford people.

Nevermind. This is fixed now, so no worry. Admin can delete it if they choose to.

More internet related, when scrolling down a thread or whatever, the screen scrolls in a very "laggy-like" motion instead of nice and smooth scroll. I looked in the internet options and "smooth scrolling" was on, and turning it off made no difference, so it isn't that. Anyone know how to correct this minor error?
