you can feed them frozen rats...its just not as cool to watch. one of the good things about it is a) its cheaper and b) you dont have to worry about the rat f'ing your snake up...you cant see it, but about 2" from his head a rat got him good last week. its healing up, im hoping with this next shed he'll be good to go.

the ball python i have will get to be about 3.5 ft, 4ft the guy said it would be fairly large. he said at his biggest, he would eat a large rat you dont have to worry about it eating a dog. #1 because its too big and it wont try to eat it if it knows its too big, and #2, its not like youre going to put your pug in the cage with the snake. i think in a given week, the snake spends maybe an hour out of his tank. FWIW, they were saying on the news that 24ft python the zoo just got will eat 2 10lb rabbits a week. the 9ft burmese i was holding at the snake shop this weekend will only eat a medium rabbit

well i got the snake beginning of feb, so it would have been 50ish days before the mites showed up, and i think i read it doesnt take but 3 weeks to show up feeder mice may be the culprit though. the kid at captive born and a customer there said that mites dont get on rats....maybe they get on mice instead? i think ive gotten rid of them, ive been thouroughly checking him and havent seen anything in a couple days...im gonna spray him again tonight and wipe down the cage, just for precaution...he should be shedding soon, hes starting to get that hazed look over his whole body, so hopefully that will get rid of any eggs that may still be on him

i dont know how necessary it would be to extend the range of the router. my appt now is 980 sq/ft, and the cable modem hook up is dead center in the middle of the appt. at the furthest, the computer would probably only be about 20 feet away from the modem

ive used it before as well...couple tips for engine degreaser, use the foaming kind. i tried the more liquid-y kind, and it seemed to eat away some of the electrical packing grease or whatever is in with the connectors...both times after i used the non foaming, my speedometer didnt work correctly for a couple days. when using the foaming kind, cover the whole bay, let it sit 15-20 min, rinse off (light spray), and then cover again, and go over with a long bristle flimsy brush...it will get a lot of stuff off and finally, the detailer says to just spray on and let sit, but i found out if you do this, it will make it look like water spots everywhere. let it sit about 10 min and then just rub it in like you would armor all on your dash this was on my old elantra. night and day difference before http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y267/evan938/PICT4931.jpg after http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y267/evan938/PICT4937.jpg

so doing a bit of reading, im finding out that mineral oil can be used to clean in/around his head and eyes and wont be bad for him...where do i find mineral oil? i think the product im thinking in my head is mineral spirits, which i believe is like paint thinner, and i dont think thats what i need.

terry (captive born owner) said to get rid of his bedding, which i did, and to put him on newspapers so i dont waste so much bedding cleaning every other day. i had him on newspapers for a few days, but realized i couldnt really see mites on it. right now ive just got it lined with some plain white paper towels, and the only thing in his tank is his water dish, which ive been cleaning w/ hot soap and water daily and replacing the water, and his rock, which ive already done the bake at 250 for 2-3 hours 2x... the tool seems to work to remove them from under the scales, but i can only use it where i can see them. being that probably 75% of him is dark, it makes it harder to spot them on those areas unless they are right on top. i tried to look around his mouth in the loose skin area for mites, but he doesnt like to hold still...what should i look for in his eyes? terry's wife said when spraying him, spray his whole body, including his head and eyes. edit: ill attempt the induced shedding...IIRC, hes probably due for one in the next couple weeks...his head is already starting to get milky. ive got him on a 7 day feed cycle right now, ill try to bump it up to about 4 days to see if that speeds it up only thing im concerned with is how fast those mites are going to get from the shed skin to right back onto him...? i read that they can move like 11"/minute (i think....i believe it said 55 ft/hr which sounds about right)...i never seem to be home when hes getting out of the old skin that i can grab him out and clean the cage at that time.

so recently i found out that my ball python has mites. how/where he got them, im not sure, but im not happy. i went to captive born, and the owners wife gave me this home made stuff...a customer there was actually telling me about it. its just a spray, they said spray him down every other day and clean the cage out very well (which ive been using somewhere around 1:20 or 1:30 bleach:water to clean the cage), and i removed all his bedding and have him on newspapers. he had 2 series of sprays/cage cleaning, and when i took him out today, it seemed like there were even more mites...mainly on the bottom of him, where i could see better on the white/yellow of his bottom. the owners wife of the snake shop said just to spray it on top of him, which i did, and it seems like most of them (what i could see) came off. today while i was checking him out, i was pulling the mites off. i found some little tool in a nail care kit that sorta looks like a gardening hoe, but much smaller. i was able to use this to get some of the mites that were just under the scales that were easily removable, since i could get the tool under the scale and the mite out without lifting the scale much at all. i then placed the mites in a pool of the mite killer they gave me at the shop. anyone have any other tips on how to get rid of these? i tried spraying his belly today in hopes of getting them off completely...im just looking for any other solutions at this point...or should i just keep spraying him every other day? i guess the hardest part is im not sure what i should be looking for, or even if i see anything as far as the early stages of mites. i just want them gone...! im more worried about my 2 cats somehow getting them, then having to deal with them on the cats

yeah, im fully aware of not having to pay for the last 4 months, but at the same time, im pissed that its extra i have to pay on the bill the part that pissed me off is when the guy said "its not cost efficient for us to send a bill for under 20$"...so i asked him, "but you just assume its cost efficient for ME to pay extra per month ontop of what your guy told me?" ill look into the agent. maybe they can help me out some

so last month i started this thread http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34230&highlight=allstate ended up going with allstate, the guy i spoke to told me with my auto and renter policy, i would be paying something like 153-155/mo (cant remember exactly). i had to pay like 164 down for my auto, and 25.50 for my renters...ok... so today i get a bill for may, which says 143 for auto, and 22$ for renters...thinking i thought the number wrong, i said fuck it. then i look at the 2nd page, and it says to pay monthly, i would be paying 155.43 for auto and 25.50 for renters...almost 181$. so i call up alstate, and ask WTF is going on. 181 isnt much less than i was paying with the previous company, and for this price, i would probably keep searching after trying to talk to some bitch in india for 10 min, she finally sends me to some guy who spoke english. hes going over the bill, and come to find out, the original guy lied to me, the 153 was auto only, renters insurance is like 172.xx for the year...so im thinking, ok, 172/12 payments = 15$/mo...why a bill for 22 this month, 25.50 after that?? 168 would be a little better.....but NO allstate will not send out a bill for less than 20$. my renters insurance over 9 months comes out to 19.xx, so they lower the months down to 8, to get 22$/mo. if this isnt enough, since im paying on a monthly basis, they are going to charge me 3.50$ for each policy payment, for another extra 7$. so from the 155ish/month i was told by the guy i set my policy up with, im now at a 181$/mo bill. might not sound like much to some people, but with my income, and my bills i have to pay, that extra 26$ could go towards something else allstate can suck my nut. im not happy, and im gonna be on the hunt for an insurance company that is somewhat more honest than allstate...(wait...honest and insurance in the same sentence??)

so ive been dragging on doing my local taxes, although state/fed are done and back. i need to find out who im supposed to pay my taxes to. in 06 i lived in gahanna through the end of may, and in june i moved to blacklick. my job has been withholding gahanna taxes the whole time (still is since ive been too lazy to change it)...now i dont think blacklick is considered an actual city/township/whatever, since ive never seen any sort of city hall and i know they dont have a police/fire dept. how do i find out who i need to pay blacklick taxes to? im sure im gonna get a refund back from gahanna for the 7 months i didnt live/work there, and just have to pay it to whoever it has to go to now. does it go by school district? city of columbus? reynoldsburg?
