  1. My brother JUST (as in, yesterday) rented a car to go to FL for a week or so...had issues with the rental so me and my dad had to run over there...hes 25, and it cost him $500 and some change for the rental. on a plus note, he only asked for a fullsize car and got some "wildcard" free upgrade and got a new CTS.
  2. +1. I'd love for a car to stop and try to start some shit with me after they instigated by tossing something at me. I've found that my LCP fits nicely in my back pocket and its light enough i dont notice it there when i ride. sounds to me like the people in this thread are a bunch of pussies to (claim to) throw something and drive off like a little bitch instead of being a man and sticking around to roll the dice.
  3. I drink so that when this shit happens i dont feel it...whats your patella, the knee cap? my brother busted his into 3 bog pieces and a bunch of tiny ones when he was like 10 jumping rope at a family reunion. big 2" farm rope. Hyperextended his leg. Had surgery, nasty scar, spent first few weeks of middleschool in a full leg cast and a wheelchair
  4. Guy i used to work with got rid of his. I couldnt imagine in this day and age. i dont have a landline or a direct number at work
  5. Will do this wednesday. Doesnt matter though, because no matter what number i count, youre gonna tell me im wrong or im lying and then cite some shit like growing up out there, family on a board, or you were in the chopper over head watching us, or you magically have cameras positioned all over the country side you watch
  6. got in another 40 today. i wont be doing this ride again, as the ride leader was an idiot, to say the least. he almost took me out when he went to look over his left shoulder for the group (i was right behind him down on my aero bars doing ~20-21) and pulled his bike left and rubbed up on my front tire. luckily, i stayed up, but stayed away from him the rest of the ride. he made like 5-6 random stops, decided the best time to check if the other 4 of us had ridden in group rides was at a stop sign 3 miles into the ride, its like "hey, maybe you should've had this chat in the parking lot"...the flow of the ride sucked, he was a dick...i'll find a different sunday morning ride. never again that one...made sense at the end why it was such a small group. 5 on the faster paced ride, 3 or 4 on the slower one http://ridewithgps.com/trips/689024
  7. you shouldnt need a whole chain, they sell just a spare link, and if you have a multi-tool, you can pop out a busted link, the replacement goes through each, and you connect it and pull the chain tight and it'll lock in. below is for a SRAM chain, which is what i have, but find out what you've got because its different for shimano chains. do you have any type of repair kit with you? i usually always have multitool (allan keys, chain link replacement tool, and screwdriver bits on it), tire levers, tube, co2 and valve tool, and my link. stuff thats nice to have handy, and the couple times i've had issues, i was able to get back to rolling in just a few minutes. otherwise i'd be calling for a ride. lol http://www.bikebling.com/v/vspfiles/photos/SRAM08-Powerlink-10spd-2T.jpg and to LJ, who is so dead set on how bad traffic is out by where he grew up, we did a ride today, out that way, and i decided, "let me count how many cars we get passed by (same direction) on this ride today". in 40 miles, there were 24 cars. total. had a bunch going the other way, but cars that actually had to go around us, 24. sounds like those roads are stupid busy and we definitely slowed that massive amount of traffic. if you doubt my claims about how few cars we have on rides, you're more than welcome to find me a gopro to use and i'll record a route for you. http://ridewithgps.com/trips/689024 (the clock on that is set wrong. we rolled out at 8am, not 5. lol)
  8. Out that way and not a bicycle? but its so dangerous for us out there! for real though, RIP. it sucks to hear of that shit. crazy it was on the bridge. edit, i didnt even have the article pulled up when i posted, and first thing i read is that he was passing a car on double yellow Darwin - 1, motorcyle - 0.
  9. i heard them talking about that ride...fuck that. LOL. the di2 was awesome. i think this winter i may try to pick up a cannondale supersix ultegra di2. they have it MSRP at 5k... i just know with the seriousness i've gotten into riding this year, im already ready to get out of my CAAD8 w/ tiagra components. i should've went at least 105 this year, but i fucked up. lol
  10. action packed day today. i went to the Trek demo day today with a friend, and his wife was one of the Trek employees putting on the event... it started as a 25 mile pelotonia training ride for people from work, so we knew it would be slow, but we just wanted to get people out...did a windy 25 miles, at like 12.4mph...LOL. when we got back, i got a chance to hop on a 5.9 Madone w/ Ultegra Di2 and take it out for a few miles. we would have gone further, but we wanted to try some of the mountain bikes, and he saw the one he wanted coming in as we were leaving, so we cut it short to get back and get some decent bikes. All i can say about the Di2 is "wow". so smooth, fast, effortless. even in 5 miles, i knew i needed to get back to get off that bike or i was gonna fuck around and spend A LOT of money. we then ended up getting a couple Superfly 100 elites and did phase 2 at alum. i've never mountain biked before, but according to my buddy who does quite a bit, he said i did fairly well. quite a few times i had to hold up and wait for him. lol. i think moving time for P2 was around 46 min, and that was from the lot. it was definitely a fun time. would i buy a mountain bike this year? probably not, but if someone had a bike i could borrow and invited me out, i'd definitely take them up on the offer. todays rides - training ride - http://ridewithgps.com/trips/687463 di2 ride - http://ridewithgps.com/users/84159/activities phase 2 mountain biking - http://ridewithgps.com/users/84159/activities other rides over the last week or so... westerville bike club wednesday night ride - http://ridewithgps.com/trips/663904 casual ride with a friend - http://ridewithgps.com/users/84159/activities memorial day ride. stupid hot, few hills, about 7 people in our group - http://ridewithgps.com/users/84159/activities easy ride for my legs to recover from ^^ http://ridewithgps.com/users/84159/activities westerville bike club WNR - http://ridewithgps.com/trips/681238
  11. It probably has swine flu
  12. and the award for least expected post goes to... cordell, you get a
  13. compared the the city roads people on here are bitching about, yes they are. they're all country roads. do they get traffic? yes. because they're roads. i bet my ride tonight, in 38 miles, we didn't get passed by even 50 cars. memorial day to granville, maybe a few more than that, but it was also 20 miles longer.
  14. well, if we're in the trend of telling others what they should do, maybe you should drive roads that have less cyclists?
  15. you must've missed where more than one of us cyclist has stated how we'd rather be out in the country where the roads are near empty. check this out... http://ridewithgps.com/trips/681238 - tonights ride. started at hoover, went towards johnstown. http://ridewithgps.com/trips/674153 - and another from new albany out towards granville. HOLY SHIT. ON LESS BUSY ROADS!?!? NO WAI! http://ridewithgps.com/trips/673130 - and another, out towards Johnstown with a minimal stint on sunbury to get to where we needed to go. you move out of your parents basement yet? probably should've went with your own place instead of buying a new car. good move on the whole "priorities" thinking. :dumb:
  16. some of the posts in this thread are hilarious. "i hate when they ride busy roads" then a couple posts later "i hate when they ride 2 wide on country roads". its done for safety reasons. single file on country roads is not necessary...theres hardly traffic and thats why we like to ride there. if a car is coming towards you, and you're single file, some dickheads in cars think "oh, i can squeeze that", which ups the risk of a cyclist getting hit. you ride 2 wide and take that half of the road, if you have a car coming, a car behind you will see they cant "shoot the gap" and try to get by...and if its my safety vs a car saving 15 seconds on his/her commute, guess what i choose? bikes by law are considered vehicles, and as long as that stands, we're REQUIRED to ride on the road. that's why they're called sideWALKS as for brians comment, even though i think i saw it posted, a speed limit (speed limit: noun : the maximum speed at which a vehicle is legally permitted to travel, as within a specific area, on a certain road, or under given conditions.) is not a minimum speed. and if you check next time you hop on the highway, you'll usually see a sign that says something to the effect of "no bicyles or pedestrians" or some shit like that this and by law, this is legal. you can ride 2 abreast to the right of the road, unless there is a hazard which makes it unsafe to do so, which you can move left until clear of obstruction best post in this thread. some of you need to read this http://www.ohiobike.org/bicycle-law-digest.html but i'll point out a few key points for you... edit...and for the purpose of this thread, thats pretty funny. my mom said back when she was a kid, the neighborhoods in gahanna had 15mph speed limits, and my uncle got stopped by a cop for speeding on his bicycle. LOL
  17. Bump...i know everyone could still use some donations...anything helps!
  18. Post in my pelotonia thread and ill update it...and come train with us...theres a 630 ride from hoover tomorrow (every wednesday) and a little faster one from new albany elementary thursday at 6
