Ok so i went to change my belts in the beater today right. Simple right? Not if Ford can have anything to do with it! Rather than have a simple tensioner, it uses slides. So in order to replace the V-belt, i had to remove the other (which has the water pump on a slide...DRRR!) and then crank the pullies around untill it comes off. Then, i had to get the V-belt off. Now 2 bolts are what holds this thing in place. One pivot bolt(so heat stretched that it may has well be cross threaded) and the slide bolt. Now the slide bolt is put in through the slide first, then threaded into the alternator... which is made of aluminum... #6 steel bolt, aluminum thread... can you see where im going with this? So anyway, i fixed that genius set up and bought a new bolt, lock washer and lock nut. I cut the new bolt down so it was about 1/2" longer than the old one. Then i threaded it thru the alternator first... hand tight. Then once it was thru the slide, i put the lock washer and nut on there. THAT BITCH MIGHT AS WELL BE WELDED. Before the bolt wouldnt hold tight enough to keep the alternator from rotating... not now baby. I did a better engineering job in 17min than Ford did in how ever many years that car was in production. Consensis.... FORD graemlins/thumbsdown.gif

too heavy... srry guys, you sont see those on my car

well damn i may just send this guy somewhere else then. I dont have the kind of time to sit down and source out machine shops that can do the work and i already know he doesnt want to pay buku bucks for parts and labor... decisions, decisions...

So if 426 heads dont bolt up to the 440 block... whats the point of even thinking about it? I was under the impression they were of the same base cast, and that it would be a relativly easy swap with the exception of reseting quench, valve clearences and all that good stuff... but from what your telling me this isnt even possible? Am i reading that right?

So a guy that works at Doctors West comes in the shop the other day to get some wings and we start talking cars. Turns out, hes got a 71 Challenger with a 440 in it. He says he wants to put "Indy 426 hemi" heads on it, and that its doable. He asked for my number incase he needed any advise or building info, and i gave it to him. Now ive never, NEVER, touched a mopar engine. I messed with a 420A in a neon once but thats Mitsu. So if this guy calls me up on this build, are there any hang ups that go on in this head swap? He said he knows guys that have done it, but ive never heard of anyone doing it. Any info that may be useful is welcome and appreciated.

UWI us my best friend when it comes to finding old Quad parts. Ive only seen 1 LD9 there in the last 2 YEARS! I figured out why though. Theres a yard on the Northend of Brown Rd... the owner comes in 2 days a week and has his guys pull engines. They buy em up at a "bulk" rate, and sell them for big bank. They go after the Quads first too. They tried to pull one while i was getting parts i needed... i bout laid into the dude with a 30" demo bar. I stayed there for like 5hrs and pulled every single part i needed and more. I only left a couple parts that were almost useless. Teach him to take my Quad engines graemlins/finger.gif

Anything going down? I got another day off woohoo!

His name is Chris Larkin. Hes not famous or anything but ive watched him fight and hes pretty damn good. Im a pretty big boy and i would think twice. Big Boy = 6'1", appx 225 lbs.

Not RPM, just rotations of the crank. The engine is only under load for about 6-8 seconds total.

NitrousBird - That picture was taken on Mothers Day in Dayton. After that event, the motor blew to all hell. At that point i decided to do the fullout race crossover. Street Modified is an extremly competitive class... not for the n00b's After that event, i was 3rd of 22 in points. *EDIT* BTW -- That was with CAI/4-1/custom exhaust, mild gutting, stock suspension/street tire. Drag Racing is for fast cars, AutoX is for fast drivers graemlins/thumb.gif [ 02. December 2004, 02:28 AM: Message edited by: MRMEANR ]

Well if your cool, im cool. I dont want problems with other members. This is the exact reason why ive strayed from other sites/forums. I hate people talking shit. I build engines the way i know how and i race to one day get paid for it. I just want to be around others of my own "addiction". -BTW- Jegs people arent that helpful... they dont know how to cross reference anything or even try to find parts. I stood in there one day for 2 and a half hours looking thru thier catalog rack trying to find parts i could use. I walked out pissed, and with a handful of part numbers. thats one of the longest fist fights ive ever seen. Everytime ive been in a fight, it usually goes to the ground in about 10seconds, and is over in less than 30. There was one time i really got my ass whooped that lasted a few minutes, but thats just because im too stupid to know when to stay down. I used to wrestle when i was in JHS and HS, and have messed around with a UFC guy so when its game time, ITS PAIN TIME WOOOOO!! tongue.gif

sounds like this boy needs a good ol fashion ass whippin.

they would have done away with them, but it was a daily driver at some point

keep the average speed below 140mph and you should be fine if every thing is forged. Im running a 3.75 stroke and 7k isnt out of reach if i need it. Im running a 4 banger so theres a bit less weight to throw around but the physics is the same. Your real concern should be your rod pressure angle. Keep your rods long and the piston waaaay up in the cylinder or youll build up an awful lot of heat real quick. If you need to, grind out slots in the base of the cylinderwall to provide a lil extra clearence for your rods... a rod kissing the cylinder wall at 6k wouldnt be too pretty.

OH YEA!... i wanna say i heard it from eother Danny Popp or Mark Presley... I know for sure it was a corvette guy... just cant reember which one.

why should i get a ban? I called someone out for talking crap in a area where i couldnt defend myself. I made comments on what i saw, or what i THOUGHT i saw in pictures. I didnt in anyway say "what a shit box" or "that sucks"... i didnt do a single thing wrong. Even dispite that, i made even ANOTHER post on the same thread about how my only real carb knowledge and tuning ability was with two stroke engines. " posted 30. November 2004 02:21 AM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Originally posted by desperado: 125 or 150 total in two stages -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- hey me too I used to race alcohol powered RC trucks, boats and planes in my younger years so i got a lot of tuning time in with those. Never realy messed with a 4 stroker though. " Now after that, there was another post from him that had an apologie which i never saw. Had i seen it, things would have been fine at that point. But even after that was writen, he made the rant in the one area i couldnt see. So this could have all been avoided had that post not been made. As for the fists... i didnt come out and say "hey lets duke it out". I asked how he wanted to solve the problem. I gave other alternatives i.e. beer, race...I dont like fighting, nor do i like the feeling of swelled up hands and black eyes, but if it comes to that between two people, whats the difference? As far as im concerned, if you want to beat down on someone, have at it. Were all adults and know what happens when our actions are over and done with. And TRUST ME, an ban from this site would be the last thing id be worried about if i was in a street brawl with another member While you sit and think about how dumb i am and how i over reacted... im going to go figure up my quench distance graemlins/thumb.gif

So i get a PM from an individual whom i wont name that reads... EDIT* -- i was informed i had to remove this quote. Now look man... if you want to run your mouth, lets do it face to face. For you to go and make ignorant comments as such in an area that i dont have the ability to defend myself... not that i feel i need to... is pretty chicken shit if you ask me. Im not here to make enemies, but dont think for a second ill cower down like some bitch. If you have a problem, lets solve it. Whats it gonna take? Fists, beer, a race, what? Ive been building for over a DECADE. I dont do much work at all with carbs. I couldnt rejet one if i had to. Ive only messed with 2 stroker carbs, both slides and rotory. In and around the tracks im somebody. If you dont feel like im "qualified" to be posting on your precious board, get a helmet because i dont care. [ 01.
