  1. they still have any left? i'd like to get one or two...
  2. better question... if i was to build up a GT engine, is this engine a good starting point? i'm talking block, heads, timing chain setup, and crank... the cracked cap rods and factory pistons are obviously getting ditched. should i track down another engine from a different vehicle and build that up? maybe a 5.4 liter 32 valve navigator motor... decisions, decisions... tongue.gif
  3. here's what i know... 2002 GT 11 bolt valve covers 8th digit of VIN is X PI heads (?) WTF??? where did this engine come from? also, i already had the lift specifications on the cams (thanks ford service manual) but i can't find the duration specs or overlap anywhere? anyone know what the stock cam specs are on these cars? do i have to tear it apart to find out what it is? i know windsor engines have floating pins and different cam gears... i could also pull the tranny and check for an 8 bolt flywheel... tongue.gif SOMEONE TELL ME WHERE THIS CURSED ENGINE CAME FROM!!!
  4. quick question for you guys... i've got a bone stock 2002 Ford Mustang GT with the 281 cubic inch SOHC V8 engine... me and a few friends were arguing the other day over where the engine came from. is the engine in this car from the Windsor or the Romeo engine plant? i was under the impression that all 1999 and up GT engines came from the Windsor plant. i know the Windsor engines are built a bit sturdier than their Romeo counterparts, and i'm curious which one i have before i start modifying the engine. anyone know for sure? thanks guys... 5. i've noticed that about mustangs... why is everyone with mustangs so obsessed with MAF systems? what's with all the conversion kits for early cars? i like speed density setups myself. mass air meters are hideously expensive, and fragile to boot... sure, MAF systems seem to handle modifications better without computer changes, but everyone seems to have aftermarket chips anyways... i don't get it...
  6. you're much better off, if you're really looking for more power, to build a 350 or 400... one piece of advice though... i had a TPI system in my 1985 350 corvette, and i'll warn you right now, unless you make some MAJOR breathing mods to the intake it isn't going to make much top end power... the TPI was designed to boost torque on a smaller 305 engine. when you bolt a TPI setup onto a 350 or larger engine, it runs out of breath REAL fast! i will admit it'll make some brutal low end torque with the right cam, but don't expect any high rpm (5000+) power out of it... there are a few aftermarket replacement manifolds on the market, TPIS and Edelbrock to name a few, so you might want to look into those... good luck!
  7. is it a 5 speed or an automatic?
