I have been delaying the paint job since we have been getting slammed with winter storm after winter storm. It is the only 4x4 I own. So last Friday we were getting slammed with another storm and the truck started bucking, missing, popping, and losing rpms on the interstate. It eventually quit and would not restart. I did a quick once over everything obvious under the hood and hooked the computer to the ecm to find that all sensors were operating properly. So the truck had to be towed home and I finally got a chance to check it out today. I popped the distributor cap to find this- http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b115/brianscy/The%20Burb/DSCF1814.jpg

+1 on this. S15driftking's profile says 27 years old. Just imagine having your house paid off, (assuming you made no extra payments), in your early 40s. You will be set for a comfortable, possibly early retirement. Of course this goes against the grain of our consumption-driven society that believes in second, third, fourth, etc mortgages to buy boats, cars, and swimming pools. Take the 15 year advice, make extra payments, have a paid off house and the lowest stress level in your neighborhood before you know it.

It has a fuel injected 240hp Bridgeport on it right now. Have not ran it yet. Should run 100, or a low 12 sec 1/4 mile with a good prop. Your boat looks awesome. Those V4 JohnRudes can be made to run damn good. The limiting factor is always the hull...but that can be modified too. The V4 with a relieved exhaust has the most unique sound ever. Are some of those pics from Lake Cumberland? And you said it right about the two best days in a boaters life. I was bummed to see my Skater getting hauled away, but happy to know I no longer had to work on two motors, fill two 60 gallon gas tanks with 93 octane+Klotz, etc, etc, etc...... I keep ignoring the wife when she mentions selling the little boat.

LOL...I just came across that thing last week !!! It somehow survived all of the moves.

Considering suede, black/charcoal denim...then there are endless patterns that come to mind. The black/white/grey camo like pictured below, (pic borrowed from a thread on vwvortex). Stock looks to be out of the question...like everything else on the truck. http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h142/leftcoast23/DSCN2625.jpg

Here's another of the headliner after a couple of changes from the pic above. You can see the rear controls opening, (center), and the overhead vent openings, (sides). Now it is time for sand/filler/sand. Once smooth, I will recover it with new material and it should look factory. http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b115/brianscy/The%20Burb/DSCF1784.jpg Here is the JL Stealthbox. I bought it off of Ebay from a guy who posts on fullsizechevy.com. He felt the carpet it was wrapped with from JL looked cheap so he stripped it and put a skimcoat of filler on the enclosure, but never sanded it. I did a quicky on it with the DA. I still have not decided whether to paint it or cover it in carpet or fabric. http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b115/brianscy/The%20Burb/DSCF1785.jpg You can see there is a piece damaged a bit on the corner. I still have to fix that, but I bet it would not be noticed once mounted between the seats on top of carpet. http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b115/brianscy/The%20Burb/DSCF1786.jpg

The wife and I are trying to move back to Columbus and threads like this make me even more excited to get back home. I sold my big boat, but still have the Laser. When we get back to Ohio, I hope to meet up with you guys on the water. No winter plans, but spring plans will include fabbing up a back seat, putting in a different fuel tank, and complete rigging of the EFI motor. Also need to finish the back up motor. I'd like to swap out the 20" midsection for a 15", but that is not in the plans for this season. Pic from Florida a couple years back. Stock 200 carb motor. Ran 86mph on gps. http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b115/brianscy/Bathroom%20remodel-Fla/104.jpg

Thanks for the compliment! Here's a couple of pics of the headliner work I've done so far. As you can see, I am molding the overhead monitor in. The factory rear seat a/c - heater controls and vents must be moved back a bit for this to work. http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b115/brianscy/The%20Burb/DSCF1773.jpg I'll post up some more pics of the center console and stuff when I get a chance today.

I have been making progress. Planned on having it painted already, but we keep getting slammed with snow here in Virginia and since I live out in the country, the 4x4 must stay. It's a real beast in the snow too. We had more than 18 inches and it simply drove right through it. I placed a big order with LMC Truck last night. Like I said before, every seal, fuzzy, etc. will be new. http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b115/brianscy/The%20Burb/LMCorder.jpg

Florida also charges an additional $100, (new wheels tax, IIRC) to title a car that has never been titled in the state before. Gotta love that on top of the sales tax.http://smiliesftw.com/x/rolleyesgreddy.gif

Simply for clarification purposes and with all due respect since I had an experience buying an enclosed a few years ago, are you measuring 24' from the tongue to the rear door, or total box length? I drove three or four hours to buy a 24' a while back and found it was not a 24' box when I pulled in the guys driveway and saw it in person. It was a Pace and since a friend of the family owns a Pace dealership, I called him with the VIN and he confirmed it as a 20'. It goes without saying that I was beyond pissed at the seller for advertising it as a 24' and again him telling me it was a 24' on the phone. It turns out that the 20' enclosed is 24' total length, (tongue to tail). So I left his house and bought a 28' off the family friend who owns the dealership. I am not trying to bust your chops or anything, just hoping I can help you and a potential buyer avoid any confusion or hard feelings.

I am in Virginia now. Sorry.

Florida summer > Ohio winter Positives in the summer- The population decreased by half in the county I lived in. Open lobster season in early August. The Gulf lays down so smooth that you could take a canoe across the thing. All kinds of good fishing. Negatives- Heat and humidity. Rain and lightning for an hour every day that you cannot ride through. Hurricanes.

I moved from Ohio to Florida, (Ft Myers). It's warm in the winter, hot and humid as hell in the summer. Old people over-running the place in the winter too. I'd move to the East coast around Miami if I were single and into partying. Tampa/St Pete would work too. I rode the motorcycle year round, but it's all boring-flat riding. Fishing was incredible down there. Window tint laws were not enforced. No state income tax. Cops never bothered me with obnoxiously loud exhaust. No front plate. Bikinis? Here and there, but mostly around Spring Break. I now live in Virginia. Warmer than Cbus, but still get some snow here and there. Motorcycle riding is a million times better than Ohio and Florida. Ocean/beach a short drive away too. Mountains and ocean not far apart without the over population and expense of California. Of course, it's still not California, but we have the Auto/moto/boat/trailer inspections every year, plus a personal property tax on all your toys. So far, I grew up in Ohio. Lived four years in Florida and three in Virginia. Now I am looking at moving back to Ohio to be close to family again. I'll always miss Florida though.

X2- I have three Sirius accounts and just bought a new deck for the tow vehicle. I called Sirius to subscribe and got their service plus "the best of XM" for $4.00 extra a month. That means I get NHL, more college games, and other talk/sports stuff.

My dad bought it for me two months before I turned 16 in 1990. It has been through a few transformations since then. http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b115/brianscy/wagon/DSCF0474.jpg

Oil filter / oil recommendations for a Audi 2.0T
flyinbrian replied to Nitrousbird's topic in Tech and Tips
+1 for MKV Aaron's advice. I can tell you from experience that if VW/Audi recommends a 505.01 oil, you better take their advice. Camshaft, followers, bearings, and torque-to-yield bolts are pricey. With that said, I use Total Quartz and Mann filters. Sometimes use VW/Audi filters. -
Anybody ever have Gall Stones? or Gall Bladder removed?
flyinbrian replied to CJINOHIO03's topic in Dumpster
I know somebody who had the procedure. They deal with IBS now, (screaming-panic shits). Not good.http://smiliesftw.com/x/turbohsughr.gif -
To those asking how much I have in the truck so far. I could guess, but that would no the honest for those of you thinking about doing a similar project. Maybe this weekend I will start adding up receipts and break it down into drivetrain, suspension, etc. I know that I've spent $1200 on audio/video and have yet to purchase amps. Those two items will more than likely bump me over $2000 once it's all said and done. I plan on sound deadening the hell out of the truck with damplifier pro and luxury liner from secondskinaudio.com. That will not be cheap either. $3000-$5000 For paint, plus all new door seals, fuzzies, etc. I'll still have far less than a new truck and it will be all mine, custom, no payment. Fuel mileage on the stock 454 was 10 mpg uphill, downhill, coasting, or whatever. The 496 is the same. When it was running rich while towing a 24 foot trailer with a Nova, motorcycle, tools, etc, it made 5-7 mpghttp://smiliesftw.com/x/facepalm.gif. The dynamicefi EBL has a highway mode option that sets the efi in a lean cruise mode that makes for significant gains in mileage. I have not fooled with this option as of yet, but look forward to better mileage over stock with a bigger motor. Right now I'm 10-12 mpg....it's not my daily driver. The USPS was good to me today- http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b115/brianscy/The%20Burb/DSCF1674.jpg
