THe BEST way to measure IMO is to use dial indicators. You will still need to replace the hydraulic lifter with a solid lifter, and use a check spring in place of the valvespring. (you can get a check spring from Home Depot... they have these packs of screen door springs for like 5 bucks) and for a solid lifter, I just welded a bad hydraulic one. 0.070 on the intake side isnt horrible. Consider there are many guys running the LGM G6X3 on a stock ls3, which is much closer PTV (less than 0.050")... if you have hydraulic lifters, shouldnt be an issue at all..
