  3. I would just like to add that my Bearcats did pretty well in the draft. 2 2nd rounders and a third rounder. I am still worried about next year's football season... 1) we have a stupid soft schedule, thanks to hte BE mass exodus that we didnt follow, and should have. 2) we lost a lot of talent at key positions.
  4. 517/490 on dynapack, 500/465 on dynojet, that dyno always gives stingy numbers but it is what it is. Still some more in it I think, but she is bitchin fun. As you suggested, the headers are killing me. Data log shows I'm choking up top.
  5. Javier, who took the amazing pics of my car (found in the 'pics of your ride' thread) also took this sweet video... other than my random cameo, it's pretty BA I think.
  6. ^ completely agreed. The 'perfect' turbine exhaust would probably be a parabolic diverging nozzle, with a conical diverging nozzle at 7.5deg a better mfg solution. Which you will see built in to your exhaust housing to some degree. From that point aft, the only way I can see you having a notable negative impact is by choking the exhaust, building back pressure. And it would take a lot more than a well designed x-pipe to do that. And even then, unless you seriously restrict it, you're not going to cause engine problems, just lose the ability to maximize efficiency. BTW, UGR is FAR from the first to utilize an x-pipe on a twin turbo application.
  7. It's actually the basic principle for the DEI setup.
  8. moving the location of hte x pipe will shift it's effect at peak VE(at a given rpm) based on pulse width modulation, but that is on a naturally aspirated setup. N/A utilizes exhaust velocity (with tools like scavenging), whereas turbo applications utilize backpressure changes in the exhaust. Which is where D Wiggs was thinking he was going with his x-pipe location/useage "theory" and the effet it would/wouldnt have on backpressure.
  9. I'm not suggesting an x-pipe is a great adder of power to a twin turbo exhaust either. Scavenging is a primary VE benefit to an n/a motor, but once you put the exhaust wheel in between the engine and hte x-pipe the flow characteristics and needs are altered. In reality, on a multiple turbo application, i wouldnt imagine the x-pipe as having a significant effect either way. Though I would have to put more thought/theory behind it first.
  10. So, as someone who's masters thesis was around race engine design, I would like to say, you have no idea WTF you are talking about. This sounds almost exactly to me what the kids would tell me when I quized them on engine design (I taught Auto Design Series (undergraduate level)), and they didnt know/understand and were BSing an answer to me. The pulsing of turbos makes things worse? If you were one of hte students, I would ask two questions... elaborate on pulsing, followed by what do you mean by worse? (to see how deep I could get you to go before admitting you didnt really know) Let's get to your next point, x-pipe location and effect on scavenging (big hint word there for you). Yes the closer the xpipe to the engine exit, the increased effect on scavenging, but please tell me, in detail, how this would result in a 'back feed' in air to the turbo to the extent it causes "BIG problems" for the engine? Point blank: A non-optimized x-pipe location (or the use of one vs not) does have an effect on volumetric efficiency, per rpm, (which I would guestimate no more than +/-5-10% range) but to suggest it will cause engine failure/malfunction, is just silly.

  12. They probably had a monitor she could see herself in... Seems like normal 4/5 year old behavior to me, especially one that is bored sitting in a chair while adults talk...
