  2. come on over I am just sitting in the garage straightening up and listening to the guy 2 streets over scream bloody murder at his dog for not listening.
  3. The car is running and shy of the starter issues that may have been bad parts, this could be just as simple as diagnosing the true issue which I guess could be a simple vacuum leak. I dont think this is anything super major and feel my lack of diagnosing skills is what's hindering me at this point.
  4. What is the process for looking for leaks with brake cleaner? I know there are I believe 4 small vacuum lines that are pretty much shot that come off I believe the throttle body. I dont know with these being bad if that could warrant such a shitty running issue. Its not kinda running bad, its running like hell.
  5. Its finally running. 1. issue down. Replaced the starter with a 3rd one and it fired right up. Now I back to dealing with why its running so poorly. Whats the first thing to check on that?
  6. Advance, and then was replaced again under warranty from advance about 20 miles apart. I can pull the starter quickly I will try that.
  7. I dont have a big enough socket to get onto the bolt. It could be locked up but it was running until shut off and then wouldnt restart 15 mins later.
  8. I was thinking the same thing but not sure where to put a wrench at or if I would be doing damage trying.
  9. No click. The battery has 12v and still reads 11+v when trying to crank or at least when the key is turned. Can I pull the starter hook 12v to it and jump across to the reference wire and force it to engage on my bench? If the starter is bad, what would make 2 go bad in a week? Junk starters?
  10. Tried the screwdriver and nothing, a very veryfaint hollow sound but that could just be a voltage bump or something I guess, certainly wasnt a starter noise.
  11. I tried this already with a smaller wire(maybe not big enough?) and it didnt try to force the starter to do anything. I also thought of taking a screwdriver and using it to jump from the starter wire to the reference wire and see if that forces it to engage.
  12. So I had someone turn the key all the way to the start position and hold it while I looked for a reading and didnt get one at the reference wire or whatever the wire is called that isnt the 12v supply.
  13. I tested the ignition wire at the starter. With the key in the on position I get a .015 reading and .000 with it off. Should I pop the starter back off?
  14. So I have 12v to the starter with the key in any position. The ignition wire, what kind of power should I be getting with the key in the on position vs off? And do I need the key cranking to get a reading at the ignition wire or just in the on position?
  15. So far I have tested to see if the battery is good, and made an attempt at bypassing the neutral safety switch. I used a set of jumper cables to try and reground but still nothing. I will check for power at the starter, I should get a dc voltage reading of 12v with the key turned on?
  16. I checked for vacuum leaks and didnt necessarily see any but then again the lines are so dryrotted..... Rocky I would love the help but sunday we have a family event here at the house and no time.
  17. I am interested in this as well. I need a phone line but also need a mifi spot. My options are to pay the $70 for a smartphone/used as mifi as well with features I dont need or go with verizons new phone service which can be had for $10 a month if I share my current plan minutes and get the mifi jet thingy at $50 for internet. Theres a 3rd option of going with a traditional phone company that provides internet but I dont know if I can get service any cheaper than option 1 or 2. Then again option 1 and 2 puts me into a 2 year contract.
  18. Out of curiosity why would you think I havent payed for sponsorship? Either in cake services or in this case other trade services provided and in turn repayed?
  19. I took the battery out and put it on the charger for the night. It appears to be less than 6 months old based on the manufacturing sticker and I wasnt sure if I was dealing with a good charge or not. The first thing I did when it got here was reach down to the starter and make sure the wires were still in place on it and they were. The issue it currently has could be another starter but for 2 to go bad in less than 2 weeks seems odd. I almost think it could be a neutral safety switch issue. Then theres the misfire issue which I dont think is related unless a crankshaft position sensor being bad(a possible misfire cause) would prevent it from attempting to start which I dont believe it would, I could be wrong.
  20. Its weird that it seems to have several different things causing issue and I dont believe them all to be related.
  21. It just got here and it wont even attempt to start. Throw the starter pack on it and turn key, nothing. I have lights, the windows go up strong, I can hear the fuel pump kick on and nothing happens. The starter doesnt make a sound, absolutely nothing.
  22. Dont they typically sell this at joanns or michaels. I know years ago they did.
  23. Well the car will be towed back here soon. I told him he was going to have issues soon after he took it and it lasted a day before he was delivering pizza's and it did the same thing it did the first time on him. After a few deliveries it just wont start back up. When he left out of here the other day I told him it was running so bad I am surprised it started for him to take. I will try to do some diagnosing for him tomorrow. Scott I know your having some family stuff going on but if you need a break and want to come tinker, let me know.
  24. John which number did I give you to call? I will pm you the other number thats easier to get ahold of her until the new number is up which hopefully will be tomorrow.
