I've gotten two of these. They tend to go along with a listed purchase price that is significantly lower than the "book" value. I've filled them both out, but I don't think I ended up mailing either one... No stamps. Never saw any repurcussion.

Well, I decided to take my uncle up on the offer to buy the car from me for what I had in it. My car lives in Columbus now and has already begun it's transformation. It'll be having a complete heart transplant and color change. It'll be blue over black two tone with some mild striping between, and a blue engine bay. The engine going into it will be an aluminum 4.6 4 cam from a Lincoln Mark VIII, likely with a few mods. He's already removed the engine, trans, and front sheet metal to prep it for paint and swap. Turns out, the source of my intermittant noise was indeed a spun #8 rod bearing. It must have been only a part time spinner though because the crank and rod both looked okay. Not that it matters though, that engine won't be pressed into service again any time soon.

Nice find! I was looking for an LX Sport myself a couple of weeks ago, but couldn't come up with a nice one in my price range. FWIW, I came across a magazine on the news stand at Kroger the other day that featured a blown Marauder with narrowed stock wheels up front and a cage you may wanna check out. I use Speed HUD on my motorcycle since I have no speedometer. This one is pretty cool because if you were so inclined, you can reverse the screen, lay it on your dash, and read the reflection off your windshield.

This. Easy fix as long as the little spot weld between the frame and the door shell isn't/doesn't break. Adjustments like this are done at body shops all over the country every day.

My uncle has a couple of lincoln mark VIII 4 cam engines around the garage, I know he's planning to drop one of them into his mustang, the thought was maybe we'll push the time table up a little bit and swap his engine into my car and open up his engine bay for the swap in the process.

Yeah, yeah, yeah... I'll take my lumps. Even if I do end up putting an engine in it, it'll still be worth more than I have in it.

Running out of patience... When I changed the oil, there was a day on the filter. it was August '08. I think my noise is a rod knocking. I have a line on another engine, so I think I'm just going to drive it till itblows up.

I'm not giving up on it yet, but I'll let you know if I change my mind. Shoot, I don't even have the title for the dumb thing yet... I spent some time trying to identify it further yesterday, and I'm almost certain the noise is coming from the trans/clutch area. It's hard to say for sure because the only way to hear it consistantly is to drive it. You can get it to make noise in neutral with the clutch depressed or not, but to get it to start and continue making the noise you have to be driving. Hopefully I'll get it up on the lift today and look closer from the underside.

**** Update **** Spent a bunch of money on the car last night on brakes, found I had 3 bad calipers, both rear caliper brakets had the slide pins seized inside. Now that the brakes are sorted out and I can actually drive the thing, I've been able to pay more attention to this noise. It seems to come on at 2000+ RPM under load. You can hear it in neutral with the clutch pedal released, but only as the RPMs fall, and only for a second. I'm afraid I'm going to be getting into the engine... Timing chain tensioners maybe?

If you've ever heard an engine driven fan hit a fan shroud, that is the kind of noise I'm hearing. Like I said, not constant, only once the car warms up, and even then it isn't all the time. I'm leaning toward the throw out bearing as the most likely culprit, but I don't want to pull the trans and replace it only to find out that wasn't the problem.

No, not really. Actually, with the radio on (not very loud, mind you), it's hardly noticable inside the car at all.

The noise isn't coming from the rear of the car, more front/middle. I've never had a clutch chatter before, but I searched "2000 Mustang GT Clutch Knock" on You Tube, and found a couple of videos of cars making similar noises, but they were all at idle. Mine only makes noise under load after it's warmed up.

I think $2700 from the original owner is a good deal...

From what I can see, it is completely stock except for a pair of Flowmaster Mufflers. I'll get a good look at it on the lift tonight. I'll check the exhaust, but the noise seems to be more "active" than an exhaust leak if that makes sense...

I bought a 2000 Mustang GT last night, and noticed on my drive home that once it was warmed up, there was a heavy clinking/tinking noise coming from under the vehicle. The noise seems to come on between 2-3k RPM, and when cruising if you let off the gas, it'll get pretty loud. The car runs great, holds good oil pressure, and the clutch feels good, but this noise is pretty disconcerting. Does this sound like a bad throw out bearing? The car only has 92k miles, but it was sitting for a couple of months prior to my purchase. I'm already spending money today to replace the brakes all around, and figured I'd poke around a little bit while I have it on the lift this afternoon, just figured someone may be able to give me an idea of some things I could be looking for while I have it in the air.

Good looking truck! As for the grille, your best bet is to use the OEM. None of the aftermarket ones will have the correct recess for the bowtie in them. It'll look okay on the sides of it, but the top and bottom will be missing. I think you should go with a GMC grille painted to match the silver on the bottom and a billet grille insert though. No emblem, and imo a better looking front end.

You can if you cut it up into little tiny pieces. I think the going rate for scrap steel right now though is like six and a half cents per pound though. Makes it hardly worth the effort to cut it up.

They'll only take it if the title is clear. There really isn't a whole lot you can do with it without going through the hassle of the title work first.
