bad rings doesn't explain oil all over the engine bay. Having not seen any pictures or the car in person there is really no way to tell, but there is more than 1 way to get the symptoms discribed in the thread. oil on the plug can be explained by oil sitting in the plug hole and covered the strap as they pulled it out. there are other ways for oil to get into a chamber other than rings as well. Could it be rings? sure. but what else failed to get the oil outside the motor? PCV system? after reading all the pages all i've seen is speculation.

Went to Cleveland auto show and we went to the Honda/acura area, i reached in an RDX popped the hood and opent the hood to show my Brother&father-in-law how the upper part of the grill is actually a ram air type system into the intercooler, I see a concerned auto show person quickly make her way to protect the 40K little suv. she says, "can i help you?" +1 for a diff girdle. For people who don't have a diff girdle, An easy oldschool way is to put the fluid in a large ziplock bag and then just bolt the rear cover on, turn the wheels a few times breaks the bag open and the plastic is harmlessly chewed up by the gears.
