That is the problem, GM ecotech motors do last very well, and get very good mileage. But The public stigma has taken hold. You do have a point as far as build quality though, even my 07 G5 is already getting buggy, stereo buttons, not working and a rattle in the rear susp. but i have seen 36-37mpg out of my 2.4L. In the same breath i could care less if one of the big 3 falls, i dont believe that the end of one means none of them can survive. When they asked that the union lower thier wages, the union said no. Right there tells me they are stupid enough to slit thier own neck, let it happen. GM has moved production jobs to other countries, they need to ask mexico and canada, and whoever else for some cash too.

in the winter, both cars blow, but in a vette, if for some reason you have to stop on an incline, you may not get started again, been there. I had to push as for drag racing, i'd still take the vette, easier to work on the engine, it's lighter from the start.

we have a 2000 expedition, 80k all 4 ball joints being replaced this week, $840. average about 15MPG. other than the balljoints and replacing front swaybar end links the truck is great. Stay away from the v10 unless you are happy with 8 miles per gallon, i'm not exagerating. You might see 12MPG if you drive highway at 55MPH. I've talked to people with all 3 motors about them, the folks with the 6.0L diesel version claim 18-20 mpg highway. 11,000 is about 4k too much for that truck.
