I don't know about The Vest Wearers, but for USPSA/SCSA, you just show up to matches and pay the entry fee. If you want to track your results/get scored, you need a membership.
If you're looking for a budget bolt gun, I cannot recommend the Weatherby Vanguard series enough. Mauser action. Great trigger. Light weight. Available in a large range of calibers. And you can beat the living fuck out of them. I've got one in .243 that DESTROYS varmints of any variety.
I'm debating on taking the kayak out later today when it warms up a bit. I'm thinking I'll go to Deer Creek Lake to wash the dust off of it. Anyone been there lately? How are the levels? Fishing?
What do you catch them on and how? I've always heard a can of corn to chum and kernels as bait, but never really tried it. If I'm not fishing for keeps, I enjoy landing one every once in awhile. They put up one hell of a fight.
Because bait casters have their own (large) niche where they work great. I love bait casters.
For me, I've got a bit more work to do on the yak that I put off this winter. I plan on getting out quite a bit more this summer in it.
Thought this was kind of cool. It really shapes up around the 2:00 mark.

I say we all get 12 barn fans together, a fire pit, some beer, and see what happens.
