  1. Waiting on brakes, wont be in on time for me. Will have to wait for June for Nelson and MO with NASA.
  2. ^Uhh....Mustangs never lose!! Good fun today, forgot how much I like doing this and may get back into it a lot more with fuel and costs killing me on the road courses.
  3. Mustang is not going anywhere! Just going to pick up a bike finally!
  4. The GTR was sleeping or something, never seen one get manhandled off the line like that.
  5. Mazdas at the track? Never! :gabe:
  6. May join you on this event as well, having to rethink my excursions this year with fuel prices. Putnam is a gorgeous track, I have some video from a miata that has a nice view and it's a nice flowing track.
  7. My old roommate had an 09 wrx, he had 3 brake fires on that car. You need MUCH better brakes than what that car comes equipped with. I would recommend at least track pads front and rear, dot 4 fluid, ducting(you can setup your own for cheap), and remove all the dust boots from the brakes as that will be what catches fire. Subaru dropped the ball on that car by making it as fast as the sti but with base model brakes. Most events running a weekend will cost about $300 on average and fuel will cost that much at the rate it's going!
  8. VIR has a corner like that just after the climbing esses that when it goes wrong it gets ugly fast as you have a lot more speed and the car wants to spin left and plow into the outside tire wall! I almost had a miata rear end me there as I was hesitant with such a fast blind corner! Car should be ready by june, seeing these pics is making anxious to get back out there!
  9. I need to get back up there, hopefully will have the car ready in time.
  10. Thats plenty on Azenis, those are good almost until the cords show through. You wont use that much at all on just a single day at Nelson. New wheels and tires are on, suspension and brakes next! Should be able to make this event.
  11. The 4G63 is a solid choice and can easily attain those numbers, though that Ford setup sounds like it could be nasty as hell.
  12. Ugh, wish the car was ready, have the day off but im still on the brakes I fried at vir last fall and my snow tires!
  13. The left hander before the carousel is the best! Its blind and only marginally slower than turn 1! Looking forward to getting back there this year, I realized how much I needed that familiarity while at vir last fall.
  14. Don't let the rain stop, you can learn so much from driving in those conditions! If it does rain, watch out for the river running across the track just after the kink where the crossover is, gets a bit much even on wet tires!
  15. They already have 80mph limits in places during the day, just gotta watch out for the occasional mexican jalopy cruising around at 50 mph as that's their top speed!
  16. Hah, I've had my subframe connectors for almost 2 years! Just that they're still in the box! Been wanting to do 3.73 gears, I hear they really wake up these cars. I have wheels and tires covered, just need to get the rest of the parts and get the damned exhaust fixed and I'm ready to go!
  17. Will update this when I get home later this week, I don't even know what site ovr is using anymore with registration or chat. Will get it taken care of by this weekend as I plan to do some autocross this year if I can figure out what to do with the mustang.

I thought everyone was still meeting downtown on marconi?

    Sucker Punch

Wait, this isn't going to be the greatest movie ever?
  20. VIR is even tougher, despite the longer track its much faster and has several places that you have to use them for just a bit which keeps them from cooling down too much.
  21. Yes dammit! I'd hope for at least the gates to not be wide open and nobody in sight! I did go back by there today and passed a homeland security cruiser nearby, looked like a border patrol with the green scheme.
  22. That's about it, ray had 2 fires on his brakes before having to add even higher temp pads, ducts, dot 4 fluid, and remove all the dust boots to keep it from happening again. If you go to a parts store and look at the brakes even on the new wrx, they're the same as almost all the base subarus dating back years. Can't do that when you add that much power. Like craig mentioned, Nelson is pretty easy on brakes. Rally Pat, hard to say with an older car like that. Of course you don't have to go full tilt the whole time, racing is as much about making it to the finish sometimes as winning. I'd at least do a radiator flush and run some water wetter in it to help and go have some fun!
  23. It's a subaru, they tend to catch fire at the track, just ask my old roommate, he had 2 brake fires on his wrx! The only subaru that can handle the track is the sti(which don't have brakes made by subaru) or a wrx with majorly upgraded brake system.
  24. I just drove by the Davis Besse plant today, kinda scary that there appeared to be minimal if any security going by there!
