it will hold I ran a 50 trim forever on stock 7bolt engine and tranny for over 80k with no issues, and on stock cam it does make power over 5500. but in time he will need a tranny. just get a shep tranny and be done with it , if your going dsm.

if your going shep on trannys, your going to pay an arm and leg, I paid 2400 for mine and it was not even the best he offered.

I would say anything pre mid 93' before they started the 7 bolt, yeah some years have better rods, some have better tranny's and rears, but id just look for somthing stock in that year range. If anything dsm parts are a dime a dozen you can find anything local without any isses, if your wanting to upgrade ect. Whatever you do, unless you know the person and how the car was taken care of,do not buy one all modded up. you can just look at a car and tell if it was taken care of , or slapped together by some broke dick.

aleast you know, not all people are bad.

you know how that goes with modded cars. it all comes to how much do you want to spend. either way if your still wanting a dsm make sure if it has balance shafts or not. or if a 2g , if its been "measured" latley if a 7 bolt.
