  1. 1. Unless gmail is having issues, I've not received anything since 1159pm. I can forward you everything if he thinks I'm being rude/sarcastic, because until the "I'll only accept cash" note, everything was quite friendly. After that, I sent "Better be a joke, I'm not going anywhere with $800 in cash." You say he wants to protect himself, I'm in the same boat. That much dough is crazy to just have in the glove box, and if I go to the bank and ask for that, they're going to get really suspicious really fast. 2. This issue is easily resolved by asking for a money order or cashier's check from a bank. This solves a couple of problems... - Since they're drawn on bank funds, there's no issue of whether or not it'll clear - Both can be made out to a specific person, negating the worry of carrying around cash - Many banks will allow you to put a 'memo' in the bottom corner just like a regular check, so the bank understands why you're pulling out all that money, removing the "Why's this guy want so much cash so fast" curiousity 3. My spidey-sense starts itching when dealing with large purchases that don't have docs to back them up. You'd want to see the title for a car, even if you're buying it for $1000, right? This isn't any different. 4. I know it's a great deal, that why I've been so interested. But when he sent "I forgot to mention that I will only accept cash - no checks or anything like that", I really got turned around. Again, nobody I know likes carrying around that sort of cash. 5. If he'll take CC or MO, the deal's back on Again, something must be fubar with my email, because 1159p is the last I received from him. If he sent anything between 1204a (when I was like "Cash?? wtf?" and 1254a (when I was like "Dude, this just doesn't feel right to me"), I never got it, and apologize if I rubbed him wrong not realizing there was a message I didn't get. Have him call me, and if the CC/MO is fine with him, I'll even buy his burrito.
  2. 360Iroc, I'm not buying. Seller doesn't have any of the original receipts, and while it may have been a twisted joke that has backfired on him (he hasn't written back), he asked for the money in cash.
  3. Returning it to the "available" pile... not feeling well. Mitch is right about that second shot, though... definitely poster material.
  4. Only a set of jumper cables, which amusingly enough, were used to assist an F-350 diesel last weekend.
  5. I'll bite Send PM of how you want to arrange it.
  6. Miguel, I can't see photobucket from the office, but if I like what I see when I get home, I'll take the whole package.
  7. Any low light / nighttime examples? This might be worth pulling out some savings for, my AE-1 seems to be on its last legs.
  8. Agreed... make a list, set a price of, say, $1 or $2 (Whatever a buyback store would offer) and let us turn that into cash for ya.

  10. I have no clue what my numbers are, nor do I really care. I've got a feeling Bruce Lee didn't, either.
  11. Your 401k plan administrator is continuing to purchase shares in whatever funds you have designated, in the proportions you dictate. If you compare your previous statement to this one, you'll find that while your net asset value (the amount you'd pocket, before taxes and penalties, if you sold everything right this second) has gone down, the number of shares you own has gone up. So when this recession is over with, and your shares begin to climb in price again, your net asset value will, as you say, "climb a whole Hell of a lot." The fancy term for this is "dollar cost averaging," but it's more commonly called "buy low, sell high."
  12. Yes and no... when you're running at that high a frequency, wires are no longer just conductors, but also antennas. Gigabit over copper (1000BaseT) runs into problems because of this when turning corners: bend the wire too much, and instead of getting a nice clean signal out the other end, you get gibberish. You're right that if the cable's rated for HDMI, you should be in the clear, but trumpeting the 120MHz rating (which, admittedly, probably *is* the spec) makes for good marketing, sorta like how USB2 is sooooooo much faster than USB1, even though in practical application, you rarely see a difference (let's face it, people can only type so fast).
  13. Excuse me while I try not to blow beer out my nostrils
  14. Holy crap, shit's expensive ($500!), that, and they expect me to be like a corporate lab or something. This is just a hobby
  15. Have an interesting one here that I could use some help with. Got some stream captures for a set of scoreboard modules that use RS232 for data. I want to tear the stream apart, figure out what goes where, and then put the stream back together in new ways to display what I want to display. Regular hex editors that I've seen (so far, anyway) aren't able to account for start/stop/parity bits, incorrectly interpreting them as part of the data stream. So... looking for a program that will: 1. Read in a file with the raw data stream 2. Allow me to tweak the word length, parity, stop bits, and handshaking until I get something that looks familiar (I do have a rough idea of what I'm looking for) 3. Let me create a new data stream and send it to either a file or (even better) the serial port to test my theories.
  16. It's not just the freeways, it's *all* roads, some of which are pretty craptacular. And regen braking, IIRC, is only about 30% efficient.
  17. Take your pick. The 300's are matched, so if you're interested in doing RAID-0 (striped) or RAID-1 (mirrored, what I was doing), they'd be good for that.
  18. I am pissed that I can only give you +1 rep
  19. Western Digital WD3200AAKS - 320G SATA internal (have 2), $40ea Western Digital WD4000AAKS - 400G SATA internal, $60 All I have to do for any of them is a quick zero wipe and you can have 'em. Prices there are asking (was going to put them up in a couple days anyway)
  20. Are you able to access it internally, that is, by opening ftp://192.168.10.10, or whatever the server address is? If so, then it's likely your ISP is blocking it on their side (especially if you're on cable).
