Indiana Jones and the Kindgom of the Crystal Skull Trailer
mmrmnhrm replied to Rally Pat's topic in Pics and Vids
I'm just trying to figure out why part of Brian Tyler's "Reunited" (from 'Children of Dune') was playing at the start. -
I'll still be voting for Paul in the primary

Sort of... NEMA 6 (240V three prong) is two hots and a ground, NEMA 14 (240/120V four prong) is two hots, a neutral, and a ground. N and G are typically connected to each other at the breaker panel. Older houses use the '6' connector, and if the device required 120V power for something, would take one of the hots and use the ground as the return. Modern electric code frowns on that sort of thing (ground isn't supposed to have any energy on it unless there's a problem), so that's the reason behind the shift to '14' connectors instead.

Anybody know if someone makes these? I'd like to add both to my dd, but don't want a massive proliferation of boxes attached to the dash, console, windshield, and where-ever else these things like to attach to.

I believe that only applies if you include state/local taxes paid on an itemized deduction return. I've been using the standard deduction exclusively, and neither TurboTax nor TaxCut have ever asked about prior year state refunds.

It's not our stock market that's going to sink China's bubble, it's people finally getting it through their skulls that eventually the bills come due, and by golly, you gotta pay 'em. Mortgages, credit cards, auto loans, federal deficits... they all have to be paid off eventually, and guess whose stuff we're not going to be buying if we're paying down our debt Whose blood, and where's the land? Right now, I wouldn't be too keen on buying in Cali, Florida, or a couple other places that fueled the housing bubble. They're still way overpriced, and thus have a way to fall before finding bottom (or prices could just stagnate for years before reverting to mean). Show me a couple hundred acres of prime Iowa farmland along the Mississippi river, though, and we might be able to work something. Long term, real estate appreciation pretty much follows inflation, neither gaining nor losing value in adjusted dollars, unless an improvement of some sort (like enlarging the original floor plan) is made.

That's pretty much my feeling since May of last year. Switched from lots of high risk (and high return!) investments in my 401k to pure defense, and I finished up over 9% for the year. So far this year, I'm down less than 2% as opposed to the -7.5% from the S&P index. Keep your heads tucked for another few months, the world's gonna get worse before it gets better. But when it does, be ready to pull the trigger, cause *EVERYTHING* is gonna be on sale :burn:

I'd just like to remind everyone of the Mr. T gold indicator.

free websites for finding people?

google's always a fair start, plus if they own a house, then there's usually an entry into the local newspaper noting the real estate transaction. there's also the white pages -
88lx5oh: I was asking if anybody is *USING* them, not what they are. Brian: Seen some before/after shots, and they look like the real deal. http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?cmd=print&id=1764499 Thorne: I'm leaning towards it. The OEM bulbs in my Civic suck pretty hard. TonyG: Silverstars seem to get loved on for the light, then promptly hated on for insanely short life spans.

Is anybody actually using these? Only one thread mentioned them, and just as a "not the same as HID, but better than OEM" comment. They look impressive, but I couldn't find any comments as to how long they last, or if there's long-term usage problems like with cheapie HID conversions. Oh, and at $25 each, what would the preferred installation process be? Obviously don't touch with bare hands, but is an alcohol bath or wiping with an alcohol-drenched paper towel suggested?

Braun Synchro for me as well. The only time it doesn't get me blade-smooth is if I'm in a rush. Norelco cuts the crap out of me and causes in-growns, which I then have to use a blade to expose and pull out (causing yet more bleeding).

I think you're right about the makeup, though it was probably more of a "it's too much of a pain in the butt; besides, it'll get messed during volleyball/track anyways" thing than anything else. Here's another person from my class that viewers of NBC 4 might recognize, to go along with Jeopardy Boy. At least three others in my class have appeared on television as well, plus apparently someone a few more years behind us won the dubious honor of becoming an MTV Jackass.

Yes, but it's too bad that I had to revoke Orion's geek license for not knowing that the swallow/coconut debate was between african vs. european swallows. British swallows had nothing to do with it.

Pain in the butt. i've got a USB > PATA (3.5" and 2.5") adapter you can have for $5. Makes the old laptop drive look just like any other external hard drive.

There's a lot that costumes and make-up do. Here's one, and another, from our reunion back in '06. Kirk, how many do you recognize?

It is DVR'd, probably by just about everybody here. Give me a day or two, and I'll have the commercials edited out. Edit: My tivo says there are repeats of tonights show, split into hour blocks, tomorrow and Tuesday. Game on!
-
Yes, Mr. D, that would be the same Val Waugaman. edit: Yeah, well, that's why going back through old yearbooks can be so much fun
-
It's naw a question o' where 'e *grips* it... it's ah simple matter of weight ratios!

What's cool is that one of the new gladiators (Siren, aka Val Waugaman) and I graduated high school together

That's pretty much it, I think, except it sounds like if she stays and the ICE review decides they're gaming the system, then it's ship her home and the door gets slammed for good (can't even get a tourist visa after that). Maybe even the same if she goes home now anyways, and that's what is bugging them. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Tilley, a quick google makes me think Inna would be cool, except that they're in Cleveland, and she's here in Columbus. Still, I might need her help in a few years if my gf and I are still together when she finishes grad school

Alright then, here goes... Friend's coworker up in Cleveland met a Taiwanese girl about a year and a half ago, and they got married this summer. Of course, it's the usual story of putting the rose-tinted glasses on, and not really talking about everything you should talk about before getting married, so now they're realizing that it was really a mistake. She wants kids, he was snipped before they met. He figured all asians were like the stereotypical submissive japanese you see in movies, and she'd just as soon strike off on her own. Now if this were just two Americans, it'd be easy... call it a starter marriage, get divorced, and go your way. But since she's on a two-year conditional green card, it's not that easy. He's of the opinion that she should be allowed to stay, having done school here and making a life for herself, so they're trying to figure out whether it would be better for them to stay married until the immigration hearing in summer '09, even though they won't have the usual supporting docs (house/rental agreement in both names, joint insurance, common property, etc), or if they should divorce now, and he just goes and says, "Yeah, we were a bunch of naive kids, but she should stay." They've made sure to do everything "by the book," including stuff like getting an SSN and paying taxes, so it's not like she's been trying to freeload the way our usual targets on this board do, but they're understandably nervous over how ICE will view their case regardless of what they do.
