Some other things that will help: Location Any other "insect signs" or unusual properties of it's surround area Wings or wingless? Were there any others? Did the "fluff" only cover the end of the abdomen? Was the fluff located anywhere else on the insect or it's surroundings? (Planthopper nymph comes to mind here, as well, but they are usually just covered in fluff.) Springtails are jumpy, too, but I don't remember them having fluff. There are many insects that kinda match what info you've given me in the nymph stage. Just so hard without more detail, etc.

My first thought was a type of adelgid or even some form of woolly aphid/aphid type insect or even a scale. The jumping thing is throwing me off. It's shaped a bit like a flea, as well, but the coloring and white fluff butt isn't right. It's really hard to distinguish in that picture. I can almost guarantee that it's a "juice sucker" and is probably NOT beneficial to your plants. Where did you find it at? This may take me some more thought and/or a bit of research to be sure. I'll come back when I either have a better idea or give up.

Last time I was there I was all over the place taking pics. I will say I am careful not to destroy shit when i go off trail, but seriously, wtf. I just keep mine in my front windshield. Doesn't always work from what I've heard but may at least get you out of "that one" time. It's just an excuse, I'm sorry, a "legit" reason for them to pull someone over. I mean, since it's so fuckin important and no front plate obviously means you probably break the law all the time. Everywhere I've ever been, either they don't care or you just come in with it back on your car and it's a simple fix-it ticket at most. $100 is f'n ridiculous and I wouldn't just go and pay it. I'd at least call and see if it can be reduced.

Must've missed this thread. It's 100% a Robber fly. They normally land and straddle things (will occasionally catch things on the fly), then impale them with their proboscis and suck the juices from them. Of course, that could be a little painful, though I've never been attacked by one and have seen lots of them. Even caught them attacking other creatures. Always cool to see mother nature in action.

Maybe they haven't quite grasped the concept of just what "going green" means.

Hahaha. Shit, I remember playing 8-track tapes. Which, imo, were more convenient (other than size) than it's replacement, the casette tape. Hell, I eventually had to buy an adapter so I could play my new casette tapes in my 8track player. Of course, I'm old enough to have had vinyls back when they were all you had available, not because you're a dj or wanna be cool. lol
