  7. The song is about how John Newton became a born again Christian. That is the song I want played by bag pipes at my funeral. John Newton- Sailing back to England in 1748 aboard the merchant ship, he experienced a spiritual conversion in the Greyhound, which was hauling a load of beeswax and dyer's wood. The ship encountered a severe storm off the coast of Donegal and almost sank. Newton awoke in the middle of the night and finally called out to God as the ship filled with water. It was this experience which he later marked as the beginnings of his conversion to evangelical Christianity.[3] As the ship sailed home, Newton began to read the Bible and other religious literature. By the time he reached Britain, he had accepted the doctrines of Evangelical Christianity. The date was May 10, 1748, an anniversary he marked for the rest of his life. From that point on, he avoided profanity, gambling, and drinking. Although he continued to work in the slave trade, he had a considerable amount of gained sympathy for the slaves. He later said that his true conversion did not happen until some time later: "I cannot consider myself to have been a believer in the full sense of the word, until a considerable time afterwards."[4] Newton returned to Liverpool, England and, partly due to the influence of Joseph Manesty, a friend of his father’s, obtained a position as first mate aboard a slave trading vessel, the Brownlow, bound for the West Indies via the coast of Guinea. During the first leg of this voyage, while in west Africa (1748–49), Newton acknowledged the inadequacy of his spiritual life. While he was sick with a fever, he professed his full belief in Christ and asked God to take control of his destiny. He later said that this experience was his true conversion and the turning point in his spiritual life. He claimed it was the first time he felt totally at peace with the Almighty God. 9. When did Linn get a supra? Sorry had to say it
  10. One paper cup a gasoline, a pack of matches and a cigarette and problem is solved.
  11. 1JZ almost 490hp on basic upgrades.....:bs:
  12. I think they weigh about the same as the supra, about 3400#
  13. http://my.is/forums/f114/faq-differences-between-2jzs-pics-284826/ This may help
  14. The pistons are not the same. Not saying that aftermarket pistons from the GTE will not fit into the GE, but the stock one are not the same. The ring lands are thinner. The rods are not the same either.
  15. Let me follow up and expand a little further what I was trying to get across. The GE with a turbo will not handle as much power as the GTE will. It is very common to have 700+ RWHP out of the GTE with a turbo, fuel, and EMS. I think the record for a stock block is 1038rwhp. The GE, even if you swap the head gasket and add fuel will not survive long at those numbers. The GE is not a bad engine but is has some limitations. Dollar for dollar I would swap to the GTE. For the 3k you will spend on the turbo and fuel for the GE you can swap the GTE for about the same price and have a better platform. My .02
  16. Not a good time to be a 50 year old celeb!
  17. Just removing the siren may not solve your problem. If it has starter kill you won't be able to start the van.
  18. They are based on the supra platform. The 2jzge is a good engine, but a little weak. I think it is 200 hp. There are turbo kits for them, but I would swap for the GTE. The GTE has better pistons, rods, crank, oil system. And before you ask, you cannot take the turbo manifold from the GE and put it on the GTE. The bolt holes do not line up. IIRC the best you will get out of a GE with a turbo is about 320 hp unless you do major surgery. The GTE was 320 stock. If you do BPU+++ you can get over 400rwhp with the GTE. I did 411RWHP in my supra with that set up. BTW... be prepared to spend lots of money. The parts for the GTE and GE are not like buy 4g63 stuff!
  19. I remember those, never owned any Orion stuff. Some of the brands that are junk today were good stuff 20 years ago. Sony was very respectable in the early 90's . Pyle was not bad either. Is Hifonics any good still?
  20. I was partial to the MTX terminator amps and subs back in the day. The terminator amps were 1/4ohm stable!
  21. When I worked in audio, my experience was installer error was responsible for most failures (even the cheap stuff). Most of the time when I seen failure in a speaker, a poorly matched amp and crossover settings were to blame. Another cause was poor enclosure design ie. using a driver designed for a sealed enclosure in a ported box. I agree with big steve on the brands to stay away from. Although I have seen a few 100% pyramid systems that would knock you socks off. I wish I had an old punch 45 and 150. Rockford stuff was at its pinnacle at that time.
