  1. hundreds of thousands of cars already built waiting for electronics

This is something I have been wondering about. I'm assuming the "oldest" new vehicles are typically first in line to get the semiconductors as they come in, no? If it gets to the point where there's a ton of new vehicles that are actually a year (or more) old by the time they are complete, dealers can't realistically expect to sell them at their original MSRP, can they? I mean I guess if demand still outweighs supply they can do whatever they want.

  2. It's a shitty time to buy a car right now, new or used. Everything is so fucked. Is it even possible to get a "good deal" on a car anymore? Or is this new artificial inflation truly permanent and we all need to adjust our expectations?
  3. I have a Dell Vostro 5390 with Windows 10 Professional. Got it a couple years ago and it has been flawless. When I was shopping I made damn sure I bought something with Windows PRO instead of the regular version. WAYYYYYY better than the last few laptops I had before this. Pretty much anything with regular Windows always ends up being a POS with all the extra bloatware bullshit.
  4. Yeah its pretty simple obviously healthy baker > healthy Keenum. Busted ass Baker needs to take a seat and let Healthy Keenum play a few games. Keenum should have played Detroit and the first Baltimore game. Be happy to go 1-1. Then after the buy Baker could of had 3 weeks off and hope he's significantly healed come back and Beat Baltimore to split that matchup and make your playoff push.

Now its basically hopes and dreams. Baker gets more injuries every week now cause he can't move/evade/throw like he used to pre-injuries. It's a snowball effect just getting worst.

I'm not a Baker hater either he's a decent NFL quarterback when healthy with a good team (which they got) but like this isn't gonna work.

    100% agreed

  5. If they expand the playoff, it shouldn't be more than six teams total. At the end of the year, is there ever more than a half dozen teams you can justify as national champion worthy? And a 6-team playoff would reward #1 and #2 with a well deserved first round bye.

The more we expand, the less the regular season will matter. But of course it will expand to 12 or 16 teams because $$$$$

  6. obj is officially out of cleveland

Thank God. What a worthless, gutless POS.

This whole thing was planned by OBJ, his daddy, and LeBron. That stupid video cherry picking all the times OBJ was "open" (without any context) was his way to get kicked out of Cleveland. I really hope he gets claimed by Detroit and hates his life so much that he retires.

The guy freelances his routes, drops easy balls in clutch situations, then pouts when he's not involved. He's a soft, selfish pussy who doesn't care about winning. Fuck him, good riddance.

  7. It has caused a few arguments in our household because we need to go different places

    OK, let's break this down.....

My wife doesn't think that I should go get a beater but I think she likes the control of me having to ask her to use her car

I just don't like hearing my wife bitch at me about wasting money because I drove the truck

She doesn't think you should get a beater, and she doesn't think you should drive your truck, yet she argues about you needing to use her car?

If I were you, I would get a cheap beater, and get a new wife

  8. Part of me wants to lower it on some wide Corvette wheels (I would remove the step bars and spare tire carrier and all that) but more than likely I'll just leave it stock and drive it for a while until I get bored and sell it.

But it's a stick shift with a locking rear diff and 3.73 gears, and 100% rust free, so I'm tempted to mess around with it. We'll see.

  9. So, I found a 2004 S10 Blazer ZR2 for sale on facebook marketplace earlier this week. 148k miles, clean title. It was at some hole in the wall dealer in Piqua, but it looked decent and it was my favorite color (Dark Green Metallic) and a 5-speed manual. Sweet! That's a rare combo, definitely worth checking out.

So I get there, and it needs a little TLC. Idles too low, the door pins need replaced, needs front tires, blah blah blah. I took a quick look underneath and the frame looked clean, it has the factory ZR2 skid plates, and no body rust at all which was shocking. Looked at the SPID in the glovebox to verify it was a true ZR2. Yep, there's the RPO, cool. Everything looked normal under the hood, checked the oil, everything seemed fine. I took it for a drive and other than the super low idle, it ran and drove great. No radio, no biggie. The 4WD switch isn't working, no big deal, I didn't expect it to work anyway. Heat blows hot, A/C blows ice cold. I decided I wanted it, we agreed on a price of $2500 and I came back today and drove it home without issue.

I decided to run the VIN, and it came back as a 4x2. What? It's a ZR2, it has to be a 4x4. I saw the axles and transfer case when I looked underneath, right? Better go look again....

    WTF???

So I do a little research, and apparently in 2004, you could order a 2WD ZR2. It's the same suspension and everything as the 4x4 ZR2, I just don't see the point but that's GM for you

So beyond it making no sense to me, I also have no idea why someone would add that switch to the dash. Either way it doesn't really bother me that it's 2WD, I just needed another beater and I wasn't planning on offroading this thing, and I already own a couple 4x4 trucks. Regardless, I'm mad at myself for overlooking something so obvious. I'm certainly no mechanic but I'm also not a complete idiot, or so I thought. The silver lining is that it's even more rare than I thought, but rare doesn't always mean desirable!

Thanks for reading. I figure some of you might get a kick out of this story :D

  10. Performance Auto Spa in Plain City did the tint on my truck a few years ago and they did nice work. I don't remember how much they charged, but it wasn't much. Way cheaper than whatever Quality had quoted me.
  11. Even though it was a loss, the Browns outplayed the best team in the conference even without a lot of their big pieces (Beckham, Wills, Harrison, Delpit). A number of self-inflicted wounds (turnovers) were the difference. Overall I was very encouraged with their performance. It's one game, on the road, against the back-to-back AFC champs led by the greatest QB in the league. I'm not losing any sleep over it.

Not only do we have a great roster, but I truly believe Kevin Stefanski is one of the greatest coaches in the league. If the Browns can figure out how to beat Kansas City, I think they will win a Super Bowl at some point in the next few years.

  12. Where did I say that? I just said that a LOT of CFB programs have dirty little secrets. FL was just on my mind since I watched a vid talking about talented players in the 2000's and 2010's and where they are today and several involved FL players under Urban's tenure and after. Also, let's not leave tOSU (that was for gill ;) ) got tattoos so they're pretty bad fellas too. Just stated other programs have a lot of crap that has happened, some has been blown out of proportion, and some hasn't received the reporting it should have. What about Peyton Manning while in college? Nobody seems to remember or care about any accusations there either.

Also you claimed they "still embrace child molesters". Do they? Did they "embrace" them then? I honestly don't know. I don't follow PedoSU that closely. Of course I heard when shit went down but that's it. Maybe they do. I just haven't continued to research it.

Paterno was told several times that Sandusky was diddling little kids, and he did nothing about it. Yet Pedo State fans still act like Paterno was God and could do no wrong. They make excuses for him, saying he "didn't understand" it was possible for Sandusky to do such things, so apparently it was OK for him to just stick his head in the sand.

Two of their best players a couple years back (Yetur Gross-Matos and Micah Parsons) were specifically named in the claims about sexual assault (er, I mean, "hazing") on underclassmen. Pedo State did everything they could to make those claim$ magically di$appear because they didn't want their star players getting in trouble.

Every bigtime program in college football is guilty of doing things they shouldn't, but only one is guilty of condoning sexual assault and child molestation multiple times. That's PSU.

  13. Do you think hazing hasn't happened elsewhere including your beloved FL? I don't disagree but lets not act like all college football programs are clean. FL has some nasty little secrets of their own.

I put "hazing" in quotations for a reason.

If you think it's OK for two men to pin down another man and tell him "you're about to get Sandusky'd" while another guy jacks off in his face or sticks his thumb up his butthole, I'm not sure what to tell you. Franklin and the folks at Pedo State did everything they could to quietly sweep it all under the rug, and everyone forgot all about it.

  14. On purpose? Sorry.

It's funny, I never thought in a million years I would own a Scion XB. But I bought one for dirt cheap from someone here on CR and I ended up really liking it. The 5-speed manual shifted really nice, it was great on gas, extremely reliable and easy to work on, drove great, and had a ton of space inside for it's small size. It was an excellent daily, and I miss it.

I'm actually considering ordering a brand new '21 Silverado "Trail Boss" with the 6.2 V8, but I'm going to wait until GM starts offering the employee pricing again before I decide for sure.

I looked at this '06 Scion today at a small dealer in Lancaster. 178k miles, A/C doesn't work, and it would cost me over $4k out the door. That's the best they could do. They bought the car for $3250 and said they need to make $500 on it. At least they were honest, and I respect their transparency.

I had one of these XB's that I sold last year for next to nothing. I regret getting rid of it now. You used to easily find decent beaters for $3k or less anywhere, but it looks like those days are gone unfortunately.

  16. By this comparison, although obv on a MUCH diff scale

    That's an understatement.

I understand the point you are trying to make (he was really impressive in high school) but all these stats you're referencing are apples and elephants.

He's just been dealt a shit hand.

Tathan wasn't dealt a shit hand. He thought his high school accomplishments were enough to earn him the right to be a college starter, regardless of competition. He made the comment about Fields transferring, then Tathan himself decides to transfer because he felt threatened by Fields' presence and Urban didn't care for his attitude. He had the freedom to go anywhere and chose Miami, where he got beat out by two other guys in an open competition and was 3rd on the QB depth chart.

He has nobody to blame but himself. His immaturity and his own choices have led him to UNLV, which I'm sure has humbled him a bit. Most of the shine may have worn off, but he still has a chance to find success even at a low profile school.

  17. I'm sure all of you have realized that used car prices have increased dramatically over the last couple years. Covidflation, the stimulus checks, the new car shortage, supply and demand, etc. My question is simple: how long is this shit going to last, or is it permanent?

A close friend of mine wants to buy a newer used truck, and the prices just seem insane to me. He's looking at any 3 to 6 year old 1/2 ton crew cab V8 4WD pickup with less than 75k miles, and most that he likes are in the mid $30's. It seems like the exact same trucks were $5-10k cheaper when I was looking a few years back.

I told him he should just wait until the end of the year and try to find a deal on a brand new truck when they have dealer rebates and are willing to knock a ton off of the MSRP to get "last year" models off the lot, but I'm not sure if dealers are even offering these incentives at the moment? He also seems hesitant to spend the money for a brand new truck (even though he can easily afford it) but to me it's a lot smarter than spending $35k on a 2017 Ram with 50k miles.

Just thinking out loud, feel free to chime in with your feedback!
