I take that back.. Tyler get a card. Keep the total available credit at a point to where you can always pay it off (if maxed) within 3 months. The more income you bring in the higher you can allow the limit to be. Also keep that amount or higher in your savings account at all time.

This was back in 1997 when credit counslers counselled me to carry a balance to show I could pay on time. I would do my shopping with it weekly and the interest rate was low enough to where at the end of the year I maybe paid $30 in interest. Knowing what I know now, there are way too many ways to build credit outside of credit cards to even consider them. Credit cards require too much control and not everyone can control their spending. I vote stay away.

I was told that thanks to the economy I didnt have a choice. If you have better luck please let me know. I used to buy car mods during the year and pay it back with my bonus checks.. but with a 17%+ interest rate i'll just wait until I get my bonus to buy the parts. I did the whole build your credit thing in college and kept a balance for 5 years to show I could pay on time. Fast forward 12 years later (never having a late payment or overdraft issue) I get a letter saying my 8% interest rate is being raised to 18% making the credit card 100% worthless to me. Not the best time to be looking for credit cards when someone with a credit rating over 740 is forced to have a variable rate... If you can find a card that is set then go for it... and please let me know if you do since I'm in the market for a new card as well.

My thing is what company is going to take the time to make a profile and compose a good enough intro just to see if a candidate is worth hiring? Well I guess if they are paying other companies to do it they are actually being paid so they may take the time...

Nice convo guys.. I'm learning a lot here. I have towed with my 06 Envoy slt about 8 times in the last 3 years. Other than feeling down on power it never really feeled unsafe.. just not very reliable. A few times I could tell I was over heating my tranny and had to give it a break. Since I only tow about 4 times a year why dont I just rent a truck and trailor from one of you for $120 for a day. That way I can focus on comfort and not tow capacity :p

So how are they going to know what forums he is on? Do you have to give your IP address when you interview? You do realize CR isnt viewable to the public right? Facebook, myspace, online resumes, etc are easy because most people are listed by their name... Forums are listed by screenname... I'm an admin here and I dont even have his full name so how is an employer going to find him? I guess my question is what do you mean by in depth? If in depth is just checking social networking sites then plenty of companies do that to make sure the person wont turn into an HR nightmare (racist comments, etc). Do they actually ask possible candidates to give information as to where they go or do these companies just start searching based on what was given to them on the application?

Cool, thanks broham. Its only going to trails, kil-kare, and Dragway 42. The longest drive is about 2 hours and it will only tow 4 times a year (the rest of the time I drive the car to the track). If its only a few times per year will it really make that much of a diffrerence?
