eric no brakes i checked the balancer and the driveshaft everyhting is good except for the knocking and clanking noise comming from the passanger side valve cover time for a new motor i think

I have an 87 tbird with a 3.8 and an auto tranny 37k original miles on it was driving it yesterday and noticed it didnt want to shift checked the fluid its clean and at a perfect level but the car wont shift out of first until 35mph and second until like 58 any ideas?

balancer looks like every other 5.0 balancer nothing out of the ordinary

Could also be a pinion bearing but it is more likely to do with the motor you just installed

 

motor has been the same motor in since 1987 when it was made and i guess it does have a sucky stock balancer on it guess ill look at it will i know its bad just by looking at it?

Yes.

 

Balancer. Lay under it, grab it and see if the outer ring has came loose from the inner hub.

 

Just replaced one on an 89 5.0 two nights ago. 69.99 at Jegs for a Jegs brand.

 

harmonic balance

shakes the whole dash and tranny and clutch pedal real well on decelration and when clutch is engaged car has newer motor and tranny mounts as well as u joints nothing has been changed on the car it has basically been sitting any ideas?

i ordered the adaptive performance one should be here soon luckily my wheel isnt locked so hopefully i have it done a few minutes after the mail comming

ordered the bypass module for it after going through some things with the guys at ips also ordered the skip shift for it i have tursday and friday off so the car should be running by thursday im gonna plan on taking it to ips next week and going through everyhting hopefully reseting the fuel shut off at 200 or somehting incase the colum lock problem comes back as it seems like it does on these cars

We have never stocked them but I do have a wholesale acct with Maxton if you want me to snag it from them

I called quite a few dealers in town i called IPS I called a couple corvette places dealers believe it or not harldy know what im talking about and everyone else has to order it or i have to order it online jack maxton says they have the part but want to do it for me and wont sell it to me?

 

so that being said does anyone know LOCAL where i can get the colum lock bypass module for a c5 corvete 6 speed? its a 99 fyi

messed with the car a bit today i notied at idle the oil psi guage is pegged at 80 which obviously inst right im gonna throw a new sender in it anyone tell me where its located and if that can casue a problem?

than we can do the easy install way.

cool ill go to jack maxton monday and get the module just go in there with the vin and they should have it?

is the steering wheel locked right now? if its not then its way easier. i would just go to a GM dealer with your VIN number and buy the steering column lock module. its about $140. PM me when you get it and i'll tell you how to replace it. its pretty simple.

 

the colum isnt locked it moves freely

its 3 mph. good luck on getting the dealer to fix it. what you need is the $140 column lock and then the aftermarket by pass module.

 

aj you seem to know these cars really well any help on what to order and from who or where? is this something that i can do myself in the driveway or pay someone to come over and do in the driveway

car is here fires up idles great but after moving it a few feet it shuts down yes i know how to drive stick it also says service colum lock i take it this is the problem any help hjere?

is this hard to do? I have a c5 getting delivered today and want to do this

'99 seems to be about the worst year for the battery issue.

 

also your stuck with paper blocker rings and have to use regular dex III transmission fluid.

 

also i think i have the skip shift delete for a C5 if its not already done for cheep.

 

check on that skip shift please i want it

car should be getting dropped off tomorrow 1-4 pm

looking for somehting that is ready to drop into my 5.0 5 speed car
