  1. There cars were not crap, ive restored and my family including cousins, uncles have restored many cars in the past and the only AMC other than my direct families cars that we done was one AMX, the rest were Gm's, Fords, Chrysler's and Jaguars.... quality was done as well as any company for the era...and AMC was the first American company to do a bumper to bumper warranty in the 70s and not because they were junk, like today its because they know the majority of the cars being built will make the warranty without major problems and its a selling point...Renault is what hurt the company...Nash,Rambler and later Hudson were known car companies in there era for building reliable, quality cars and joined in 1954 to create AMC....
  2. One quick answer would be Renault... They went out of business on there own,....they were owned by 52% Renault(big mistake and that happen sometime in the mid 70s) and the rest by AMC share holders.....AMC share holders and other investors were going to buy out Renault's share in 1987 and make another go at it making only American cars......in 1987 while talks were going on Chrysler decided to buy Renault's 52%,.... AMC could have stayed and been part of the company but chose to sell the remaining 48%....sometimes i wish they did stay in and then it would almost be certain that one of those paper prototypes may come out and i would own it even if it had a Hemi... Thats the short of it...
  3. That was a joke.....but those prototype pics looked great, and you never know down the road maybe one of them will come out...doubt it, but i did not think Indy performance would of come out with block and heads for AMC either and they did...
  4. This is probably going in a stang right, so 500rwhp should put ya deep in the 10s with traction, if ya can show me more than 20 timeslips doing that i'll step up to a whole $20... and your right, your rods and pistons may explode before you can even hurt the block.......put a engine diaper on it...
  5. Sounds like you built a grenade to me,...but good luck....
  6. It will do it, but will not live unless you turn it down, keep it around 400rwhp and you will enjoy it longer...
  7. Some funny funny stuff in here, thing is most of you are right and its funny to hear or seen spoken of....... hard to tame somewhat nice guy, gets the good ladies.....they like us rough around the edges, not mean..
  8. I think he should get a metal.
  9. Lets see...its a 74 and does not look like its been taken very good care of and still looks repairable....your analysis is unfounded......My dad and uncle's have restored many old muscle cars and so have i, and they were not AMC's and they all rust the same, its how you take care of it........if these cars and others were undercoated properly when bought new, there would be a ton more old muscle cars around... Your right on having to find used parts or patch them if possible....
  10. If someone is grouped with us...thats not a bad thing..thats a good thing...you'd win alot of races...
  11. Thats exactly what he is hoping for...... And i do agree with ya, to be the king of the street it has to be run on the street...
  12. I agree and offered to do that since we have seen both cars drive significant miles on the street to prove they can be driven...
  13. Ive seen all three power adders tuned by the right guy perform very good, and seen all three not run what i think they should.....whatever ya build talk to someone that has been there done that and was very good at it...good enough to impress you..
  14. A big inch engine built with good compression but under 12:1 is still very street able, and with todays aftermarket heads they can still be on pump gas with the right tune....plus turned up on race fuel you get the extra power...cams dont play much of a part for street able as much as they do street comfort.... Blowers don't have lag they are very responsive, its the bigger turbos on small engines that can produce the lag your talking about and with todays turbo's its not that bad...plus if ya want it to spool up fast shoot it with a 75 shot on the hit and have it shut off at a rpm you know the turbo will take over.... this is a very quick overview of the three and the discussions on all three can get pretty deep.
  15. i disagree with most of what you said...especially the video proving anything......Ben does not wan't to go down their and then there is another reason why you did not take off and try to blame something else....you must remember he went down there to race someone else and got a scandel and then you come up here and we have another scandel...... Hopefully next year this will be behind us and we can get something done....
  16. Ok guys (including ramblerman) calm down......Yes Steve's car was having some issue's that night and thats why he'd like to re'run koolrayz when it get's figured out...when its right that does not mean he will win but atleast should be a better race..... Now above is why i was driving Steve's car to see if i could figure it out...(we have not yet)...Me and my bro were just out there following the pack of cars up and down the state route we were on a couple of times and did not see anyone race, so when we got back on that road, Sam was leading the way and for some reason this time everyone was in single file so when we got to the straight away i pulled into the fast lane and shot towards the front and when i got by Sam i floored the rambler to see how it would respond,...then after i slowed down and got back into the slow lane Sam pulled up beside me,....and only because we were there at that time beside each other did i get on it again, and did it mostly just to see Sams car go...i probably was not on it for more than a few seconds and just let out because of the mis....and thats when holy hell broke loose with another car and im sure glad to hear he is alright... Hope this clears it up a little...

5k from carb to oil pan in last years engine JP....mid 10s@130 over 3400lbs...N/A...Thats pretty cheap.... Was in the car since 01 no with problemo's until i raced Jamie(bent some valves)...i dont want to start arguing about whats cheaper to build...i know you did not have much in yours and it ran very good also... Good job Ray on your victory, and when you come up to re'run Steve my bro said he'd run you with his spirit if you beat Steve.......we did not that night because we figured let you enjoy your victory and did not want to seem like we were picking on ya just to get a win that night.......but now....its on like donkey kong ....Good job and nice meeting you.. The rest of you that didn't show but like to run your mouths ....maybe we will see ya next year...
