  1. I have a Dewalt 18v that's about 8 years old. I love it. It's been a great tool. But I've noticed it doesn't have as much torque as it used to. I'll probably upgrade to the 20v.
  2. Positive Displacement supercharger. Simpler than a turbo in both setup and tuning, and feels like N/A.
  3. So, one of the owners of the dealership here had a 1st gen Camaro put together for himself. It's a resto-mod and he's having trouble getting it tuned. A couple people have taken a look at it, but it still runs super rich. He wants our resident Gandalf to look at it MOnday, but I'm not too confident. So I thought I'd see if I could find someone who was confident they could get this car running properly. I'll take any ifo and pass it along on Monday so specifics can be hammered out. Details are scarce unfortunately. I'm told it's a bored 454. Here are a couple pics. I can take more on Monday if there is anything specific that someone wnats to see. 20160610_165910 by Draco, on Flickr 20160610_165954 by Draco, on Flickr 20160610_165943 by Draco, on Flickr I'd appreciate any help. This would score boku brownie points for me from the owner, and might be an opportunity for whoever gets this thing running. Thank you.
  4. Very nice. Have fun with it.
  5. Simple. It's a lot easier and safer to back into a controlled area (empty parking spot) than an uncontrolled area (lane with cars moving through it).
  6. I've said it before and I'll say it again: You cannot have any concept of your own mortality and expect to be competitive in this race.
  7. LeBlanc was a lot better than I thought he was going to be. I was worried he'd start acting all goofy like Joey from Friends. Chris Evans needs to stop yelling. What an annoying twat. In the words of my girlfriend: "Where's the third host?" You lose a LOT of what made Top Gear work in the past because you can have the ever changing 2 vs 1 allegiances that three people can have. The star in a rallycross car segment was a flop. Who was the idiot that paired Gordon Ramsay with Jesse Eisenberg? You could see both of them thinking the same thing, and both trying their hardest to make the segment entertaining despite Chris Evans. Extra Gear is what Top Gear should be. The main host is better than Evans and I don't even know his name. Him, LeBlanc, and Harris would make a good team. Maybe have Sabine trade with Harris? But that would make it hard to build good chemistry. I think either Sabine or Harris would make a good third host, the both have strong opinions on performance cars. But Sabine has a living already in Germany, so I think Harris would be the better choice for consistency's sake.
  8. Wish I could have been there today.
  9. I was going to add that too, except there is ONE 1983 Corvette. It's at the Corvette museum (if they managed to fish it out of that sink hole). So technically, there are parts for an '83 Vette. All of them just happen to be ON the '83 Vette.
  10. VW Beetle radiator cap. Mazda RX-7 valve cover gasket. Ford E-350 7.3L spark plugs. and.. Ferrari Enzo timing chain http://i.imgur.com/AtrI37O.jpg
  11. +1. If the chassis is solid, keep it simple. Little cars can be so much fun when you're not at the mercy of your right foot. Keep the shifter throw long, and the steering rack slow. When you're zipping down a twisty road rowing like a madman, wishing you had 4 hands and 3 feet, and you feel like your Force of Will alone is what's keeping the car on the road, I dare you not to smile so wide the top of your head falls off. If you want it to be more reliable, you have a long road ahead of you. But the good news is that LBCs are very simple things so making your own wiring harness is not horrendously bad. Hell, you might even be able to find a pre-made one. Drop in a somewhat modern 4-cyl and you'll be able to drive it UP hills as well as home.
  12. Only "Modern Muscle" I have is the V and the one above is a bit more special than mine. Ah well.
  13. He considered returning the car due to a 0.5mm paint blemish... ONE blemish.
  14. You're not, compared to this guy. http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=81391
  15. Dammit. If only I had waited instead of buying the Lotus..
  16. Zipf employee: "So where did you try to get this cut?" Me: "Well, first I went to the dealership." Z: "There's your first mistake." M: "Then I took it to Rousch Hardware." Z: "There's your second."
  17. Went to Zipf today and they cut it right the first try. Thanks for the recommendation!
  18. Well.... The big money NASCAR races don't use converted production cars, so they would be exempt. But I'm sure there are NASCAR sanctioned feeder series that do use production cars. And frankly, if the NASCAR BoD wants to have any semblance of credibility, they should fight this regardless if it impacts their cash cow or not.
  19. Friday's looking good weather wise, so I'll have both the car and key together. I'll give Zipf a try. It a normal blank. The only weird thing is that it is just a shank; no handle. But every key machine I've seen doesn't grip the handle because they don't have a uniform shape. I have a key to copy, but they just aren't cutting deep enough.
  20. Can anyone recommend a place for cutting keys that has someone willing to actually make sure a cut is correct? Probably somewhere with a manual machine and a guy who knows how to use it? I'm trying to cut a key blank for the Lotus, and for some reason no one is cutting the key deep enough. I've taken it to MAG and Rousch Hardware, and both times the cut is *visibly* not deep enough. And sure enough, it doesn't work in the car. I don't know what it is about this blank that's causing issues, but I guess I need someone who will actually CUT this blank instead of just letting a machine do whatever. Thanks for any suggestions.
  21. Naw man, that's like a Type-R! Bitchin!
  22. Loaded just fine. Thanks. I'll give it a read after work.
