  1. Heh, looks like a nightmare, but then look past the rust. The front was narrowed by a foot at least. He even took the time to narrow the grill. And it's not like he just took a foot out of the middle, look closely and you'll see that he took it from different spots throughout the nose. The strut suspension wouldn't have worked, so he engineered a torsion bar front end. I bet there's a lot of interesting work done that's not immediately obvious.
  2. Love "rat rods." Old, rusted, put together with chicken wire and bubblegum, and scrapes on the painted lines when you change lanes. Just be careful who you say "rat rod" to. Some don't like the term. The more ingenuity and downright MacGuyverism you use, the more cred you'll have. Aim for a budget of about $1500-$2000 and DON'T let yourself go over. Wheel, deal, beg, borrow, and steal to make it fit the budget. Even if you have to take every drawer-pull from your kitchen to make your radiator grill. :fuckyeah: No serious "rat-rodder" will be impressed with a big wallet. But every one of them will go nuts for some barn-find tractor motor from an obscure manufacturer that doesn't exist any more which cost you a case of beer.
  3. Are you unable to lock up your wheels now? Are you experiencing really bad brake fade? If the answer is no to both of those, then brakes aren't your problem. And the second one can often be fixed with just better pads and rotors instead of a BBK.
  4. I want straight-cut gears in my next project. :fuckyeah:
  5. Considering the price and the three you listed, I'll assume you're looking used. A Stage 2 Legacy GT or spec.B should be fun and reliable. Also great year-round and can be had with a stick. I'll let someone else come up with the obligatory LSX offerings.
  6. Their pricing is strange. Wheel, no pedals $250 Pedals, no wheel $200 Wheel w/ pedals $300? Painted wheel, no pedals $540
  7. Oh, as for the seat, PlaySeats.com ftw. Best option for the money. They also have G27/DFGT bundles if you have a PS3 or PC. EDIT: They brought it to the US!! http://www.playseat.com/en/playseat-rbr-1-seat SO MUCH WANT! EDIT2: Watch the video of Vettel using the seat and count how many times he blinks.
  8. At this moment, you have no good options for an XBox wheel w/ Force Feedback because MS killed the ONLY one made. However. Mad Catz has decided to pony up the extortionate amount MS demands for the license and they are making a (hopefully) good wheel that should be out by Xmas. http://www.madcatz.com/productinfo.asp?page=248&GSProd=5154&GSCat=98&CategoryImg=Xbox_360_Wheels Last I checked, Game Stop is taking pre-orders and are expecting it in the next couple weeks.
  9. Where have you guys been? I saw the show going this way after episode 2. ..of season 1.
  10. No kidding. Overture, Credits, MONTE CARLO!
  11. Decided I wanted to watch GP again and picked up the re-release on BluRay. First off, great movie. If you haven't seen it, do so. It really says something about the movie that it has stood the test of time for 45 years and still captures the essence of racing. This is a must for any gearhead's collection. The BlueRay conversion is amazing. I have no idea where they found the clarity and definition in the old film. I bet it's clearer in my living room than it was in the theaters.
  12. I love how it sounds like it's about to explode right before it launches. :fuckyeah:
  13. I love how you have these sleek racing boats just tearing across the water and not too far behind you have a center console fishing boat with about 2000+hp of OUTBOARDS. :fuckyeah:
  14. A replica, but still badass. People always comment on how powerful the Group B monsters were, but many fail to realize that suspension technology was nowhere near what it is today. It's one thing to have that much power on forest roads with today's coilovers and CAD-designed suspensions. It's quite another to do it on 80's tech shocks and a suspension designed with a slide rule and seat-of-the-pants engineering. I don't know how they stayed on the road.
  15. Eagle One Wheel Keep Clean Used it on my wheels and a month later water would still just fall off them. Only down side is that it is slightly cloudy, not clear. So it won't be visible on silver rims, but it shows up on black rims.
  16. One thing to keep in mind: The ECU monitors the engine torque output. So if you mod it without an accompanying ECU tune, the computer will compensate for the mods and do its best to return you to stock power. But who mods a modern turbo car without a tune these days? :dumb:
  17. There's a gap between computer simulation and the real world. Sometimes it's small, sometimes it's rather large: http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=fBVuvIPe0tc I love how he tries to steer.
  18. "This shaky, blurry video taken by someone who has parkinsons of two dark unmoving lines in the water is proof that a fabled monster exists!" This is newsworthy... It's a sign of things when a news company uses YouTube to find stories.
  19. I've always liked "garages" that were actual liveable rooms in the house. I still love the one where the garage door rolled down to make a drive-in theater for the parked cars.
  20. That's passion. A year of work for a few days of competition.
