  1. GT and Forza both have their strong points and weaknesses. I'll own both. I just hope the WRC component of GT5 doesn't suck.
  2. I've tried both demos also. You can see where F3 sacrifices eye candy for physics, and NFSS sacrifices physics for eye candy. As above, it comes down to what you want. Forza 3 is a hardcore Sim with an arcade mode attached for the less dedicated. NFS:Shift is an arcade racer with some extra sim physics tacked on to make it feel more realistic. Personally, I'm getting F3, because I'm a sim nutter that likes to use real techniques to win. But I know there will be plenty of people who will feel that Shift is "real enough" and are willing to trade some unneeded physics for some flash. BTW, F3 will have tire physics! I just hope it'll also have multiple suspension models instead of just one with different parameters.

  4. So does eating bugs. Yet, I own a Subaru, and you eat bugs. Go fig.
  5. Al from Dynoflash always seems to be blowing engines. I'm amazed he gets work still. Then again, people are still posting on IWSTI asking about FP turbos.. People just don't research. As for the stock engine, it's strong enough. You can get close to 400awhp pretty reliably. if the tune was crap, you can't blame the engine. And if you still had the stock pistons, then Al should have been even more careful since there were a few bad batches. Bottom line is, the STI is a great car. It's very reliable, the transmission is bulletproof, and it handles great. The only weak point is that the engine needs to be modded *correctly.* Careless modding/tuning is the quickest way to kill a Subaru engine. You do get some splatter from the FAIL-pie for having Al do the tune, however.
  6. Wow.. Lotta people going to hell in this thread....... as well as me.. I lol'd at the posts.
  7. I'm pretty sure he means using the ECU to add boost.
  8. Crap, wrong forum... So here's a video of the impact control I'm talking about: Suspensions like these can take hits much harder than a drag racer can dish out. So a cheaper, lighter, simplified version seems like it'd be viable.
  9. Why don't these cars have long-travel front suspensions (off-road style) to absorb the impact of the nose coming back down? I ask because whenever I see a car launch with the wheels up, it always seems to come down hard and maybe a third of the time, the crossmember smacks the ground and/or the car veers to one side or the other. Wouldn't it be faster to have more control *as* the nose hits, rather than after it stabilizes?
  10. And people say the SHO isn't being sold as a performance car.........
  11. I wouldn't own a TVR, but I would a STI. Although that Sagaris is just awesome. There are a couple cars that are pure eye-sex. The TVR Sagaris is like a rough tumble while the Aston Martin DB9 is like a slow, all-nighter.. But I'd still drive the hell out of them.
  12. Have you checked Byers Subaru near Sawmill? They move a lot of STIs.
  13. The C1 has something like that also. Definitely cool. The difference between the watch and a car is that whereas a cheap watch and an expensive watch both tell the time, the expensive one doesn't really do it any better. However an expensive sportscar will drive better than a cheap one. Granted, this is ignoring the "art" aspect of a watch. While I enjoy some art, and appreciate most of it, I don't get enough enjoyment from it to justify paying for it. But cars on the other hand; I get enough enjoyment from the difference between an auto econobox and a sportscar to justify the difference in price. When a watch becomes the same price as a car, I'll choose the car every time since it has more use than the watch.
  14. Of course there is. If there's government money involved, there's corruption.
  15. If I'm going to pay more than ~$60 for a watch, it better be special. Frankly, I don't even wear a watch, and don't see the point to high-dollar watches.
  16. Bah... I'd rather have a Concord C1 Quantum Gravity Watch http://www.trendhunter.com/trends/excessive-watchmaking-james-bond-would-be-proud http://www.techeblog.com/index.php/tech-gadget/concord-c1-quantum-gravity-watch
  17. And that's just satellite tech. Life would suck without Plastics.... There's nothing wrong with wanting to make things better at home. I won't argue that. But NASA's budget is a scooter next to the HMMMV of Military spending. Not to mention "Foreign Aid" and the countless wastes of cash our government allows to continue that don't even offer the possibilit of future benefits. Let's cut the real fat, rather than something that has improved our lives already and will continue to do so in the future.
  18. Not at my store. Check the bigger ones. The store on 161 near 71 is the local HUB. If Advance carries it, they should have it.
  19. People scared of the moon breaking up fro this are f'n hilarious. I guess all those dark spots are a skin condition. Compared to the countless meteor impacts the moon has endured, a man-made satellite is like a pin prick. And a 5000mph impact is like a flick to the ear. We need a space program. Whether we fix things environmentally here or not, the resources here are finite. Seven billion people are not sustainable. We NEED to go elsewhere for resources at least, living space eventually. Better to start when we can see the problem coming, then when it is an emergency.
  20. Saturn isn't a planet. It's just a Death Star blowing up REALLLLY SLLLOOOWWWLLLYYY..
  21. I'm surprised another parent didn't jump you and yell at you for letting her do that without a helmet, knee and elbow pads, safety line, and three ambulances standing by. Good for her, and good for you!
  22. 10/28 specificly. We keep selling out of the 5-30. But we still have some 10-30 left. (Dublin Rd Advance in Grandview) Our store and the surrounding ones get our truck on Monday. I'm not sure about stores further away than SW Columbus. But best bet is Monday evening if you want 5-30.
  23. Check out BobIsTheOilGuy.com the people on the forums seem to like three oils available in the US: German Castrol (0-30 Syntec made in Germany and is only available in AutoZone) Penzoil Platinum and Castrol Edge. They used to like Mobil 1, but recent UOAs have come back with an increase in Iron that's worrying people. I'm psyched over the Advance deal with Edge. I've been wanting to use it in the STI, and this deal is just in time for my end of year oil change. The deal essentially figures out to be a slight discount on 4 quarts with a 5th quart and the filter free. Can't beat that.
  24. The speed week thread got me thinking about my Automotive Bucket List: Participate in Speed Week Participate in the Pike's Peak Hillclimb Drive the Nurburgring Nordschliffe Go to a Formula 1 Race Weekend. What's your Automotive Bucket List?
