  1. More activity, less overall eating.
  2. Is fucking EVIL. Too damn good to "Just say No." I've been losing weight lately, but the Cinnapie is evidence of Papa John plotting against me.
  3. Not because of mine. There's another that shows at the AutoCrosses. At the T+T he posted FTD on street tires.
  4. nevermind, Jump on this. Damn good deal on a clean car. You'd be hard pressed to get an 04 STI for that money.
  5. If you're considering an 04-07 (aka GD) STI with suspension mods, you can test drive mine. I'm only Stage 1, so power is nearly stock. But the suspension is heavily modified. AJ rode in it at the T+T autocross.
  6. Dependability: Subaru Power: Evo 8 or 9, then STI, then Evo X. The older Evos can be modded for lots of power on the stock block. The STI, from 04 to present, can make good power and the new STIs still have the same basic engine as previous ones. The new Evos have a new engine that hasn't been fully exploited by the aftermarket yet. Price of upgrading: Depends on how much you want to mod. The Evo 8 and 9 start out with a lot of power really cheap. But then the STI takes over because you can go big power on the stock drive train, whereas the stock Evo drivetrain can be.. temperamental at best with big power. Anyone who breaks a STI transmission was TRYING to. People drag 800hp STIs with the stock gearbox. They often leave the stock rear axles in as fuses because they'll break before the transmission does. So it's tough to say which. Personally, I bought an STI. I like Subaru's reliability record. I like their design philosophy. And I wasn't planning to go balls-out on power. The cool Subaru community was a nice bonus. (I also think the Evo 8 and 9 are disproportioned and rather ugly.)
  7. You have a better chance with the Clarion unit since Clarion supplies the OEM units.
  8. OK, thanks. Looks like the pumps won't really get the job done. I guess Canisters it is.
  9. The new Foresters do not share as much. But the pre 2009 Foresters were, in fact, based on the Impreza platform. You could swap the whole suspension into an Impreza and get a 2" lift.
  10. ... No, not that kind. This is The Passing Lane.. Anyways, I was flipping though the Jegs catalog and saw these. Running a turbo car, I run out of vacuum for braking REAL fast. If I'm under boost and left-foot braking I get one, maybe one and a half pumps before I'm out of vacuum. A canister is another possibility, but that could run out on long corners as well. A separate vacuum source for the brake booster seems like a great idea. Has anyone here used them before? What are their downsides? And do they make enough vacuum to be the only source for a brake booster? Thanks.
  11. Subaru FTW! http://www.dirtyimpreza.com/forums/images/smilies/headbang.gif The foresters are great cars, I think you'll be very happy with it.
  12. This is why if you take a hit to the head, GET IT CHECKED OUT! You won't know you have an internal bleed until you fall over dead.
  13. Those aren't drag slicks, so they have a stiff sidewall. They'll handle highway driving just fine. Drag slicks are like jello because they have soft flexible sidewalls which allow a launching car to put down more footprint. Racing slicks have very stiff sidewalls for cornering which makes them more responsive, not less.
  14. Hence my comment in post #14 of this thread. Frankly, I find NASCAR boring as hell. At least with F1 there's the technical aspect, an interesting track, Knockout Qualifying, and the surprises that happen during the race. You're right, there isn't a lot of passing in F1. But I'd rather the occaisional daring, late-braking, lightning quick passes in F1, than the passes in NASCAR where you can see a pass starting, then get up, get a beer, and sit back down to see if the pass is successful or not. *snore*
  15. ..just because it's really the only motorsport that makes me stare in wonder with my jaw dropped like I'm a kid again. Pro rally through the years, and some of the greatest drivers ever to put foot to pedal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDJYJW5MKYY And yes, minis were THE SHIT back in the day. A great highlight vid (despite the emo music) The "OiOiOi Vid" (pay attention to the crash at 0:47) That's the navigator.. hanging upside down.. checking his notes. Some say the navigators are crazier than the drivers. I believe it. Group B, a.k.a. The Killer-Bs. Present day WRC cars are as fast, but these have nearly twice the horsepower and half the suspension tech. (and pure ear-sex) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=quDX36WJM7k&feature=related A driver was once asked how he could drive so fast with so many people in the way. And to paraphrase his answer, he said: "Those are bushes, not people. If I let myself see them as people, I could never drive like I do." One of the best at driving a rally car sideways: Gigi Galli. Professional Drifters, and drivers of EVERY motorsport should stand up and take notice. THIS is car control. Ever want to ride along? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xev0G9ZACpA&feature=related And yes, that's a FORD Escort. One of the many cool cars our own Big 3 would rather sell overseas than to us. Another in-car. A relaxing drive through the Welsh countryside. So many vids, so much awesomeness.
  16. Well, no breakaway series. Every team has agreed to stick with F1 with the current 2009 rule set. http://www.f1technical.net/news/12754?sid=ad8ec691ad156ea12c25c97711d88ea8 No hard numbers for budget caps or the extra tech the cap was going to allow.. But I guess if the series continues whole.. Another interesting tidbit, Max Mosely says he won't try to be re-elected in October. So apparently, he's out as well.
  17. It's 8 months or so. You get 100K and the summer off if you're willing to bust ass. I think most just hit up the King Crab and Opi seasons and let other crews handle the off-season work so they maybe take home 50-60K a year and have the summer off.
  18. 2 months for $40K isn't bad either, expecially when you're only hauling pots for maybe 3 weeks total. The Bandit may haul the crab fast, but the NorthWestern hands go home with 10K+ more per season than the Hillstrand's crew.
  19. Northwestern also. Sig will work your ass off, then keep working you. But you'll go home with a bigger paycheck for it. Time Bandit is the party boat (as much as any of those boats could be considered fun). So they're my second choice.
  20. That's cool man. I wish I could show, but I've plans tonight..
  21. A truly great sentiment. Too bad people will discount it because of its source. As for me, well the quote in the sig is a good one.
  22. Hopefully the split will be avoided. (Though I'm curious what kinds of cars a Manufacturer-driven series would come up with). Max is backing down: http://www.f1technical.net/news/12731?sid=5431f3fa903782c1fcba5a1fe602b3ae FOTA and FIA will meet again tomorrow: http://www.f1technical.net/news/12753?sid=5431f3fa903782c1fcba5a1fe602b3ae
