That was dumb.. ..have some Pickle Surprise:

You can do that with Exhaust manifolds too. There's a whole cookbook based on that called "Manifold Destiny."

CR needs a Summer Show N' Grill meet. Maybe at a park spot where they have the charcoal grills and some cover. Everyone shines up their car and parks while bringing their best grill foods. Sounds like a good time.

Taxes have you down? There's only one cure.. BOOBIES!

So the impossible is routine for you? Thanks, I'll definitely drop a line.

When I lived in MA, my friends and I had a cookout competition we started. Everyone is allowed up to 3lbs of steak tips. They could be prepared in any way, including cooking method. But once they were cooked, they could only be presented as steak on plate. Everyone sampled the tips and a winner for the night was declared. The winner got to take the "Golden Porkchop" until the next Tip-Night. It was a porkchop chew-toy on a chain that was spraypainted gold and defaced with a BeDazzler. hehe. My best entry was Wasabiyaki tips. Mix 1 bottle of Soy-Vey Wasabiyaki with 2/3 a small jar of wasabi powder per 1.5lbs of tips. Marinade for 24 hours, then grill slightly too-hot to ensure a good carmelized coating. Finally, hit with ground wasabi and serve. The "cheater" sauce was the red chinese spare rib sauce. The worst was a caesar salad dressing marinade. But some notable ones were Pizza-Tips, Chipotle, and other great marinades. The competition really brought out some good, though guarded, recipes. One recipe that was more of an Urban Legend since noone seemed to get the mix right, was a Coke and Orange Juice marinade. Now I'm hungry... And I don't have a grill.

AutoTrader.com Search any make or model 0-$1000. Quite a few listed within 200 miles.

Just toe, that's all. Camber is easy on both cars, caster isn't adjustable, and I can't corner weight since I use struts (not that I really need to cornerweight).
-
I'll ask them about that. I was just amazed when I actually sat down and realized that I'd be spending close to $1000 on alignments this year between the two cars.

Same. The charge built up (if any) in the ceramic would be dissipated the moment it came in contact with ANYTHING of a lower charge (i.e. your fingers, the ground, the hammer used to break it, etc.) Even if it didn't, if a static discharge is enough to weaken window glass so much that a few grams of ceramic could break it, mine would have shattered a while ago. I have metallic window tint that I get zapped by often in the winter. That glass should have shattered by now.

Do we have an alignment hookup here at CR? I'm tired of paying $400/hr ($99-$120 for 15min of work) to have someone adjust my toe, but unfortunately, I need to get it checked/aligned often. Camber plates don't need to be adjusted, I don't need corner weighting or ride height done. All of the adjustment is done with stock hardware. But whenever I go to get an alignment, I end up having to pay the "performance alignment" fee because I want 0 degrees toe and the manufacturer calls for something else. This is just way too expensive now. The WRX has to be checked/aligned a couple times a summer because of the beating it takes, though I don't drive it as much so I don't do it after every race. But I get it checked again for my trips to MA every Xmas. And this doesn't count the alignments needed after suspension work, which I'll be doing a lot of this year. The STI needs to be checked after every AutoX since I've already proven at my last alignment that I can generate enough side loads to turn the concentric bolts in the rear (0.58 and 0.26 toe-in when it was checked!) I'd like to set up a string box, but I don't have the room to set it up and still jack the car up and down for adjustments. So can anyone help me out? Either with a good deal, or just let me use your alignment rack? Thanks.

Political stuff: how'd this slip through the cracks?

And how often? Maybe once a year? So the couple thousand $$ a year in gas is worth it to have a 200mile range for one, maybe two trips? You could have an electric that would cover your every day needs for a couple hundred in "fuel" costs in a year, then RENT a long hauler for your trip and save a grand a year. Or like most families, have two cars, one fuel, one electric, and take the burner for the trip and just save the gas money from the other. -

Hate strawberries. The little seeds are like eating sand. Fruit flavors with waffle = BAD, MmmKay? Maple Syrup only. I will admit that I prefer fake syrup (Aunt Jemima Butter Lite FTW) over real maple. Dunno why, since I'm a New Englander. But I think it's because it doesn't have as sharp of a taste. I'm also really picky about Maple flavor. Only on Pancakes and Waffles. I hate it on anything else (Donuts, candy, ham/bacon cures). I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to the food I eat. Complex food with tons of ingredients just seem confused. I like my flavors well defined and well developed. For instance, I hate when raspberries are combined with chocolate, say in cake or otherwise. Why muddy the great, complex flavors of chocolate with a strong conflicting fruit flavor? Don't get me wrong, I love my grape jelly PB&Js, raspberry icecream, hell just give me a knife and a Granny Smith Apple and I'm happy.

Probably the same reason people here have 500+hp cars. Bigger is better.

Tackling a job on your car that's just outside your comfort zone, and getting it done by yourself. I've been doing this; slowly expanding my experience working on cars and each time I feel great after. I've done suspension work and exhaust. But today I replaced the slave cylinder of the clutch in my Corolla. I'm sure it's no big deal to a lot of you guys, but this was a little closer to the heart of the car than I'm used to. I was considering having someone do it for me, but I thought I'd give it a shot. I swapped in the new one, bled it and drove away without a leak. That was just awesome. One thing that really made this a winner for me was that I had no prior knowledge of how to do the job. Usually I've read about someone doing the project, or have someone near by who's done it before. This time I just looked at the part, figured out how it was installed, and pulled out the tools. It's the little victories...

Just made another, and it was good.. I think I'll make waffles next week.

I've heard sonic booms a couple times. Boom is a very apt word as it isn't a crack or a rumble. It's a single boom that surprisingly doesn't reverberate very much. I've only heard them from a distance though. I can't imagine what it would be like at air-show distance. As for the worry about spies, that's kind of silly. Whether a plane is trans-sonic or not isn't much of a secret. The big secret is their top speed, but they don't need to hit top speed to break the sound barrier.

But this isn't about stock cars, unless that car meets every one of your desires and is the best of the best in your opinion.. Nice choice though. Good taste! If those things handle anything like they do in Forza, they are blast to drive too. You mean the one from the P2? That diff actually isn't all that special. It's really just a STI DCCD with custom maps and a selector. Companies already make upgraded DCCD modules for the STI. I haven't tried one, but from what I understand, it really wakes the car up. Don't build it all at once. Get the corolla, then build it a bit at a time. I'm sure there's quite a few projects here on CR that have taken a long time to come together. Do it man. One step at a time.

Pretty much the most awesome Nissan on the road today.

Slow Drivers in the left lane. You're not the only one on the road, GTFO. People who drive 10mph or more UNDER the speed limit. You're not the only one on the road, GTFO. Passive-Aggressive bullies. DIAF FWD. Manufacturers aren't interested in any magical advantages you THINK FWD has, it's used so much because it's CHEAPER to assemble. Automatic Transmissions. Never in the right gear. Minivans. You're breeding too much. Luxury SUVs. NO need. And I couldn't care less about how much money you've got to waste. NASCAR. Stock Car racing? Really? Try Vehicular Professional Wrestling.

Cool. I used to live on Cape Cod, home of the Otis Air National Guard Base and PAVE PAWS. I got to see all sorts of planes flying over head. Watching a C130 doing low-speed maneuvering is like watching a magician float his assistant. Your eyes tell you there's no possible way it should stay in the air, and yet it doesn't fall.

Looks like it. Lotus 7 derivative probably (Caterham/Westfield/etc..)

I'm not convinced of hydrogen's viability. There's too many sources of energy loss. Rather than using electricity from the power plants directly for use, it's instead used to break down water (at less than 100% efficiency), then compress the gas, move the gas, pump the gas, then there's another conversion to get electricity back (at less than 100% efficiency). As for the range, we are not a representative sample of the driving public. A lot of people drive from home to work, and out to do errands. They hate driving and do as little as possible. These people could benefit from an electric car since their fuel bill will be nearly eliminated. And how many families have just one car? A normal petrol-based car would compliment an electric car. They would cut their fuel expenditures in nearly half, and still have a long-range vehicle for the occaisional trip. I'm NOT advocating switching to electric cars only. Screw that. But making electric cars viable would put a huge dent in our oil consumption (co-incidentally leaving more for us.) The fact that we don't have a problem now (which is debateable) doesn't mean we should wait until we have one to start working on solutions. No arguments there. All the stupid Nerf-ing and generalized tree-hugging going on is giving us two-ton cars that get marginal mileage. Hopefully Fiat's extortion will get those lighter and more efficient cars to us. I think you misunderstood. Less government is good. The problem is that unless the govenment does something, private companies aren't going to do anything. What you think I'm saying is that the government should regulate/manage/etc. I'm not. What's been shown in the past is that when the government takes its hands (and taxes) OFF, profits go up. To "make it profitable" means offer tax deductions/cuts/credits/etc that the companies can use to increase profits. Of course, the likelihood of this is rather slim... but possible. Dunno where healthcare or bank lending came from. That's a whole other thread, and I agree with you for the most part. This is my point. Give companies an incentive to build an infrastructure for electric cars. Use the carrot, not the stick; less taxes, not more regulation. Ultimately, all I'm saying is that it IS possible. We (meaning the general populace and our government) just don't want to.
