  1. I'm curious. When you mod a car the price of the mods can never be recouped, and the resale value of the car will actually go down 9 times out of 10. Is it the same for bikes? I'm mostly curious...
  2. I'm just Stage 1 tuned. My city average is about 19-20. I'm going Stage 2+ soon, I'm told my mileage should improve (once I get over playing with all the new power. ). The best economy mod you can do to the car is a boost gauge if it doesn't already have one. Keep it in vacuum and you'll get good mileage.
  3. A friend of mine has a 2000 Mercury Cougar V6. His alternator has failed so I thought I'd give him a hand. When I looked under the hood, the alternator is mounted UNDER the engine! How the hell do you replace it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
  4. Weird, I could have SWORN that the IC was under the blower... Oh well. Same result.

  6. The common thinking is that they were bred as sacrificial goats to protect herds of sheep and other more valuable goats. If a predator attacked the flock, the flock would run away, leaving the "fainted" goat behind for the predator to take.
  7. Technically, that is the supercharger with some plastic around it. The silver section that has LS9 SUPERCHARGED on it is the top of the supercharger. Unfortunately, it just doesn't look like much.
  8. +1 Sorry, as a NewEnglander I have to say Vermont Maple Syrup is the best. No ways around it. But, I will add that Free Maple Syrup can make up for quite a bit. This does remind me of a moment of sacrilege. I was visiting a friend at college in VT and we went to a local diner for breakfast. I ordered pancakes and when they arrved and I poured on my syrup, they tasted funny... Luckily my friend is somewhat of a cook. He tried them and it turns out that the diner was using a Simple Syrup instead of Maple. SIMPLE F***ING SYRUP on my pancakes.. in VERMONT! I nearly threw them at the waitress. It was the most horrible thing... Breakfast is sacred.
  9. It does make me wonder just how much "racism" there would actually be if people would stop screaming "RACIST!" and claiming oppression at every opportunity.
  10. I just wish these companies would grow some balls. "I find this product offensive." "Thank you for your feedback, and we're sorry you feel that way." "I want you to pull this product from your stores." "We respect your opinion, however, we have ##millions of customers who are NOT offended by this product. We will not inconvienience the bulk of our customers over one complaint. This is America where the majority is supposed to rule, not a small vocal group. Have a nice day."
  11. I've never actually looked at the stations around here, but back in MA *every* station had a fire suppression system like that. Sometimes they are in full view like that one, sometimes you can just see the capped nozzles poking out of the roof above. But those things are made to kill a fire FAST.

    Cool game

the sound implementation is a little screwed up. Runs like crap.
  13. Everything you ever want to know about motor oil. http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/
  14. Umm, no. sorry.. I sometimes drive around town in this: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3098/2629075526_0460b9ce3e.jpg But I wouldn't be caught dead in that abomination. Hopefully that guy didn't quit his day job to become a car designer.
  15. Ok, I was doing some thinking and, being detached from the f-body world for 10-odd years, I have some questions about the new Camaro. I've always been interested in the shorthand enthusiasts use to identify cars. We use "FB, FC, or FD" to talk abour RX-7s, AE86 for the popular corolla chassis. Hell, I drive a GDC and a GDG. Now, the previous Camaro and Firebird were referred to as "F-bodys," being the platform designation from GM (F). Is GM going to resurrect the F designation for the new Camaro, does it have a new one, or does it share a platform with another car in GM's lineup? (WAYYYY back when, there were rumors of the Caddy Catera platform) Now, regardless of the above answer, does the f-body community refer to the new Camaro as a "F-body?" And ultimately, does the community refer to the new Camaro as a 5th generation Camaro, or something else? I'm just curious..
  16. Hello. We'd like to bring this car to the US. It gets incredible mileage and if enough people buy them, they will cut America's dependency on oil by a marked amount. Hmm.. Well, it's not going to meet our crash safety standards. You're going to have to add this list of stuff to the car. We can't do that, it'll almsot double the weight of the car! Oh, and that guy with the EPA over there wants you to add this list of stuff. But it burns so little fuel and so cleanly that there's practicly no emissions. Well, he wants you to add it anyways. This'll make the car even heavier! We'l never get the mileage or emissions out of it that we want. Well then you'll have to add this list of stuff to be sure to hit those goals. The car will weigh 2000 lbs at this point! Oh! Then you'll have to add this list of stuff so that it's safe to hit other cars. ARGH!!!! *kicks the car, knocking one of the rear wheels off* Nice motorcycle you have there. Welcome to America.
  17. Yeah, they're both ugly.. If you're going to fit huge rims on a car like that, go the extra mile and make them fit right. Tub that sucker! Every time I see a car like that, I just shake my head. There's no style there. The rims do NOT fit the car, and I'm not talking about fitment. Because the car's body hasn't been modifed to fit the rims, the rims look like they were just slapped on. Overall, they look out of place. Now tub the wells, move the suspension inboard and slam the body around those, and you'd have one great looking car. These people have to realize that it's not just the rims that make people go EWW! it's the *execution* of the mod! Do it right or don't do it at all! What I don't get, is that this style is a derivative of the low-rider, but they ride a foot off the ground!

  19. The video is, the ads, no.
  20. I have two sets of tires I need to sell. First is a set of 3 (yes, three) Hankook Ventus R-S2 summer tires. They are 225/45-17 in size and have only seen 3 months of use. The fourth had a HUGE nail in it, so I wasn't comfortable selling it and tossed it. These tires are Extreme Performance rated at Tire Rack and sell for $116 new. Very sticky, these were picking up stones in 40 degree weather. Selling these three for $225. Second is a set of 4 Power King Radial Plus snow tires. Yes they're cheap. They have great mud traction though and are pretty good in snow. They have the majority of their tread left. Size is 205/55-16. They retail at NTB for ~$95. I'm not putting them back on the WRX this winter because two are slightly more worn than the others. Selling these four for $100.
  21. Have a samsung, love it. I also recommend Viewsonic. Just be sure you're running at the LCD's native resolution, or things will look a little off.
  22. Well, so I'm not the first.. But that just means it's a good idea! Found some Youtube videos under "megabusa". Now I REALLY want one.. I bet they get ok mileage too..
  23. I was thinking of someday building a Locost (lotus 7 homebrew) with a turbo 'busa engine. I think that'd be crazy fast and fun to drive. Btw, that's MY idea.. Anyone starts building one of these, I want in on it!
