  1. I have to admit, I was surprised by how mild the engine bay looked.
  2. Some may think that spending tens of thousands of dollars for a drive that can be measured in SECONDS is insane.
  3. I wonder how much power it takes to throw a brick 200mph...
  4. Awesome race. Only two minor embarrassments. One was a woman complimenting Mark Webber (from Australia) on his english. The other was making the podium winners wear Stetsons.. Ah well. At least they thought the hats were funny. But the facility met with approval all around. Sector 1 is being considered a signature series of corners and some of the best in F1. The turn 1 hill has been dubbed "Fill Hill" (A pun referencing Phil Hill, the only US F1 champion). And apparently other F1 tracks are contacting the company that designed the tower for towers of their own. And attendance was massive with well over 100K people with huge turnouts for even the practice sessions. It looks like this track will be considered one of the best in the world. Whew! The post race interview with Mario Andretti was cool too.
  5. The start of the race is at 2pm, the pre-race show is on now. Don't miss it! The championship can be decided today too.
  6. Awesome. Can't wait for tomorrow.
  7. Qualifying is on now. I'veg got three screens going right now, TV, Live Timing, and SpeedTV.com on-board.
  8. That's cool, especially for you 40-rollers. I wish it was just an general open-world game like TDU though. Because sometimes I like to head off and do my own thing like drive down a road because it looks fun, regardless of any races.
  9. Ever play Forza and say to yourself, "I wish I could take this car out on the open roads"? If so, then get it. It's about 85% of Forza mixed with about 30% of TDU. There's a good mix of roads, including dirt. "Civilian" AI is a bit wonky, but that seems to be normal for games like this. Physics are mostly Forza; you can use actual driving techniques , but some of the finer points seem to be approximated. Opponent cars seem to scale with your car a bit, but aren't obviously matching you. The graphics leave a lot to be desired. It might be my personal dislike of desert scenery in games though. Seems that every game has a desert zone, and it's always boring and monochrome, my least favorite area. Cars aren't as detailed as they are in Forza, but they're good enough. It's a fun game and I try to drive everywhere rather than use the fast travel. Tearing down twisty roads in a modified version of my own car, or ahighly modified F40 is a lot of fun.
  10. I loved the WC series (the movie was an insult, however). I hope this pans out. Now to find a joystick. They're as hard to find as racing wheels these days.
  11. I've been playing Horizon. Just got my gold wristband last night. It's not bad. The car physics and graphics aren't as good as Forza, and the size of the world isn't as big as Test Drive Unlimited, but it's still enjoyable. Hopefully it'll be successful so a better sequel will be made. I just wish the Horizon multiplayer allowed free-roam like TDU. No roll-racing for you guys.
  12. Sounds like a plan. I'm always up for something car-related for a good cause.
  13. Don't use lighter fluid with it. The ceramic will absorb the fumes.
  14. If it were available, I'd be in. The $70/mo package sounds great.
  15. The consequences will NEVER be high enough. People will race because it's such a high risk. Hell, one of the potential consequences is DEATH and people still race. Increased penalties will stop some people from racing, but it'll never end street racing. This law could pass and I'll bet the number of groups that leave HD and come back won't change. I would be more accepting of this if the lawmakers would take DUIs seriously. Frankly, the way the system is set up, it's perfectly OK to go out and endanger lives far more surely than any street race. Go ahead, get pissed-ass drunk and hop in your car. If you get pulled over, just refuse the breathalyzer and claim you're just tired. You'll get off scott free, able to endanger the lives of people again. Unfortuantely, there just isn't a solution.
  16. Car should be siezed and auctioned off with the proceeds going to a fund for victims of drunk drivers.
  17. [geek] The one in the picture is a 65 ton Maurader. The one at the bottom of the article is a Maurader II, a 100ton variant. [/geek]
  18. I'd like to know why the penalties for this are higher than that of a DUI when drunk driving kills far more people.
  19. Water, sometimes with salt added to increase the density, makes the back end heavier to counterbalance a bucket up front and give better traction when pulling equipment.
  20. If your SO doesn't support your passions, might be time to find another SO.
  21. I can't figure out that commercial. Must be a cultural thing.
  22. After dropping someone from SPACE onto a planet with just a suit and parachute, everything else is a little.. ehh. But this was still fun to watch.
  23. That's pretty cool. I like how it still had the tractor tires on it. Though I'm thinking those rear tires were filled with air.
  24. If NASCAR ran more road courses (and the cars were symmetrical *shudder*) I'd enjoy watching it more. "American V8 Supercars" anyone? If COTA is as well designed as they are saying it is, NASCAR should run there. Supposedly every stand can see 80%-90% of the track (not so sure about that infield stand though) and the back straight is 3/4mi long so drafting will still be an essential skill to have. That should appeal to NASCAR fans. But yeah, I think if NASCAR's series were more like Aussie V8s, I'd find it much more entertaining and would likely watch it.
