Always liked these, and they're not making them any more after this year. As a result they had some pretty solid rebates in order to liquidate the last of them, and I bought this one last night after work. I had to search A LOT to find the color/cab/motor/transmission combo I wanted, as there are seemingly less than 10 left in the country. Actually found this one an hour or two away, in Ohio, but barely. Anyway, it's a Ranger 2wd, 2.3L 4 cylinder, 5 speed. The color is Vista Blue Metallic, and it looks much lighter in these pictures than it does in person, so far I like it a lot. It's not fast by any means but it's not at all painful to drive, and should give me 27-28 mpg highway. It's got power everything, and a cd player with 6 months of sirius. Not too exciting but as my first new car purchase I figured I'd share. Token asshole picture: http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x33/spankis/Ranger%20Pics/DSC_0302.jpg http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x33/spankis/Ranger%20Pics/DSC_0294.jpg http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x33/spankis/Ranger%20Pics/DSC_0295.jpg My plans in the near future are just to Line-X the bed, and some other functional stuff, then maybe eventually some factory mustang wheels and a slight drop, but nothing crazy.

I may buy a truck on Friday, if so I'll come by in that.

Mine was in second grade, haven't had a real legitimate one in a while. My parents did have to deal with the kids parents though, because I broke the kids glasses. I don't remember how it was resolved, but i remember me, my parents, and the other kids parents discussing it.... I also knocked some hippie kid over a couple years back, as I was leaving a final running 48 hours on no sleep. They were petitioning for some cause on the steps and i said something to him about how his cause was bullshit.... and eventually pushed his ass down a couple steps.

I loved it man, and I'd be interested in the one at Norwalk perhaps...

Sold. Mods can lock. It went to a friend at work, but it was still sad to see it go . 11 years and 200,000 miles will do that I guess.

I'd never been before, and I'll probably go back next year. Very very entertaining.
-
I'm going too, I don't know you guys, but I'll have on a black shirt that says HOTCHKIS on the back in big letters.

Depending on how quickly you need it done, I can ask my buddy that works at Dick Masheter. I may be going fishing w/ him this weekend anyway. He surely wouldn't be able to do it at home, but he has done work on the side after hours/during break time before at the dealer....

I should know this evening, I'll let you guys know.

To buy a Cummins within that price range, it would have to be a 1st gen 12 valve (89-93), and it would be in damn rough shape.

Pending sale tomorrow, to a guy I work with.

^^^ It's true! I test drove a 4x4 V6 Ranger a while back and it felt like a dog compared to my Dakota, even with the miles the motor doesn't feel tired. Torque helps.

Fahgeddabout S10s, it's all about the Dakotas. Buy mine in the corral. It's 100% not a manual, but it is a V8. Do it. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=94957

I'm pretty surprised at the lack of interest...

Bump. Come check it out, I'm available evenings after 5:30.

Alrighty, so $2300, DO IT. Now also featured on craigslist... bring on the crazies.

Yea I've had some interest from guys at work too, but they all want me to give it away. PM replied. I'd really prefer not to, starts to look pretty hillbilly at the house, not to mention juggling around who's leaving first and shit.
-
Bump... Am I asking too much here? I had a hard time pricing it, because NADA, edmunds, and kbb are all over the place. Make offers guys seriously, my driveway is lookin like a dealership.

Yea thanks man, I think I was a member a while back. I'll have to see if I can recall my account info. Also, the truck will come with a Haynes manual and any oil filters/air filters/other parts I still have for it. This truck has become a legend among my buddies and family members, as far as how trusty it's always been. It's never left me stranded ever, and always starts right up first turn. The starter was replaced in the last couple years as well.

1997 Dodge Dakota Extended Cab 5.2L V8, Automatic Transmission, Selectable 2HI/4HI/4LO 4 wheel drive Power Windows/Locks/Cruise Control Tilt Wheel AC/Heat both work great Sliding Rear window, factory drop in bedliner + included rubber bed mat 273,8XX miles $2300 obo My dad bought the truck from a friend in 2001, when it had 75,000 miles on it. It was his daily driver until 2007, when he bought a new car and I started driving it. It's been my primary vehicle for the last ~3 years or so, because my Stealth seems to always need some kind of work. The truck has never sat for any period of time, somebody has always been driving it, and as a result it's in great shape for all the miles it has on it. It's VERY clean overall, especially inside, and the only real rust is a 4 inch spot below the driver's side taillight and some on the front bumper (very common location on Dakotas). Sadly it was also dented on the passenger rear side of the bed about 3 weeks ago thanks to my mother's car.... or it would be in even better shape. If I was to keep it, I planned on having dent wizard or somebody push it out, but I'll leave that up to the next owner. As you can see the clearcoat is starting to peel on the hood and roof, probably because it's black and has always been parked outside. The rest of the paint is in good shape though, and the rear bumper was replaced last year thanks to somebody rear-ending me in traffic last year. It's been maintained well, with religious oil changes, and generally repairing anything as necessary. Mechanically the truck really needs nothing, and truly EVERYTHING works on the truck except the tape deck, which is jammed. The transmission was rebuilt last year by Rushman Automotive, and it shifts great, better than it ever did according to my dad. The rear diff was rebuilt at around 200k miles, and only because it had started to get noisy. The motor has never been opened up, but it did get valve cover gaskets last year, and a new timing chain just a couple months ago. There are dozens of new parts on the truck though, and I may add a list of everything that comes to mind later. The muffler rusted loose last year, so I replaced it with a stainless muffler out of an SSS mustang exhaust I had. Then this spring the catalytic converter needed replaced, so I replaced it with a Magnaflow high flow cat. As a result it's louder than stock but doesn't sound bad at all. The better flowing cat actually helped mileage too, so the truck gets an honest 16mpg with my driving routine, which is probably about 75% highway. I'm uploading some running/startup videos so you can hear it - I'll add them once they're done. The only reason I'm getting rid of the truck is because I get a work truck with my new job, and my Stealth is up to daily driver condition again. If you come see/drive the truck, you will be surprised by how well it runs and how clean it really is. I'm interested, any pics/description of the rust? Also, I understand these motors get surprisingly good mileage, any estimate of what you generally netted? EDIT: I'm VERY interested. Is there a time I could come check it out this week?

Gotta get yourself some fried cheese on a stick. Trust me. It is critical to get it from the stand with the black and white sign, all others are fail. There is a difference I promise. Also, after cheesing, go look at all the animals in the ODNR area, back past Smoky the bear. Pretty neat and way more up close and personal than at the zoo.
