I would have to check but we may even have some used ones laying around the shop. -
Either is fine.

Car looks great. I am sure he was thrilled!

Thats pretty impressive. I cant even operate one of the walmart cheapo ones without running over my own foot!
-
That locks up 3 of the 4. I have one left unless I can get some more.

I have no idea to be honest with you but my guess would be regular with the option to upgrade to synthetic for a charge.

My church http://livinghopemarysville.com/is doing a community outreach along with Checkered Flag Express Lube & Car Wash in Marysville. They are giving away free oil changes (up to 5 quarts) and a free car wash all on the church's tab on June 23 from 1-6pm. If anyone needs an oil change or knows anyone whos car could use a little tlc please feel free to let me know. I have 4 cards right now but could probably get more if people are interested.

You could be right on the gearing, Im not really sure. Either way if you find a nice truck you should be really happy with it. Let me know if we can help in any way. -
The billetflow ones are really nice looking. That pic is just with the cover off. He was adamant that the cover had to stay on so when we were done back on it went.

4x4 would be fine in my book. IIRC the Z71 is just upgrades shocks, skidplates, and tires. There could be more to it than that but I wouldnt pass on a good deal on a 4x4 if it has the options you are looking for. The 5.3 is a good motor, easy to work on, and reliable. Most of the trucks we see are fairly new off the lot but I cant think of any common rust spots on the 03 and up trucks. The cab corners were a problem on the 88-98 platform but the 03 and up seem to be better. The most common complaints I see are of the steering wheel clunk from the intermediate shaft, and irregular pad/rotor wear. Other than that the trucks are great. -
Yeah, it seems that we always have a few laying around in here somewhere!

Whats the details of the project? The first thing I do is get a game plan of the priorities that need to happen and figure out what that is gonna cost. From there you can work on the not so necessary things that make it more fun.
-
Best thing to do is wait till you have the cash to pay in full and do it right the first time. Dont go in debt over something that is not a necessity in life.

Hope you can make it Rich. I would love to see the lightning running!!!

First thing I have to say is that I really love the GT500's. They are a ton of fun to drive and Ford did a great job with the styling. We had a customer bring in his 09 for a tune last week. The car is equipped with the stock pulley, a C&L cold air intake, and Bassani exhaust with high flow cats. Unfortunately we were not able to get a base line pull on the car as it was leaner than I was comfortable pulling it with since the cold air kit was already installed when it came in. http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii353/brady/dyno%20pics/DSC02556-1.jpg http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii353/brady/dyno%20pics/DSC02558-1.jpg http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii353/brady/GT500/GT500CAIPPCTune-1.jpg http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii353/brady/GT500/GT500Results-1.jpg Afr is displayed in lambda on the graph. I keep it that way when tuning since the Ford fuel tables are in lamda anyway. To convert to afr it is just lambda x 14.68. Afr was sampled from a bung welded between the drivers side collector and the cat using our AFM 1000 wideband. The car made great power and was a whole different animal after it came off the rollers. I have talked to the customer on a couple of different occations and he is thrilled with the car. This car may have a blower upgrade in store as he now has the hunger for more power!

Im gonna try to share some more of the projects that we have been working on a little more. Last week we got to take care of a customers 7k original mile 03 Cobra last week. The car is spotless in and out. It spends most of its time at shows and shows in the stock class. The customer was just looking to get a little more power out of the car but his stipulations were that he wanted to keep the oem pulley cover on the car for the "oem" look. We opted to go with a 3.0 pulley to prevent belt slippage as much as possible since he did not want to run the larger idler that requires removing the pulley cover. http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii353/brady/dyno%20pics/DSC02560-1.jpg The car put down really good power stock. It is equipped with a K&N cold air kit and a Flowmaster axleback. http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii353/brady/03%20cobra/03cobrastock-1.jpg We used a metco 3.0 quick change pulley. That way if he wants to change pulleys later he doesnt have to worry about pressing the pulley on and off. http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii353/brady/03%20cobra/DSC02571.jpg Tuning results. http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii353/brady/03%20cobra/03COBRA30PULLEY-1.jpg http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii353/brady/03%20cobra/03cobraresults-1.jpg Before and After Results. http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii353/brady/03%20cobra/03Cobra30pulleyvsstock-1.jpg For those looking at afr's they are all displayed in lambda. All AFR data was collected in the drivers collector using our AFM 1000 wideband. If you want to do afr to lambda conversion just do lambda x 14.68. The car felt great on the road and the customer was really happy. In the end that is what puts a smile on my face!

Glad to see you got it working Scott!!!

Thanks for all the nice words guys! All of us at the shop appreciate it.

The biggest life changing experience for me has been my kids. It is definitely a positive experience but you do have to reprioritize a lot of things.

They tuck up in behind the church and the car wash.

I just finished it this week. The motor was still stock at Doc's. I guess at that time you could say it was all show and no go!

I want to limit the car to around 480 hp at the wheels. About 500 at the wheels is the unwritten limit on the 3 valves. 14 lbs is way too much so we took the more conservative approach. It is easier to deal with a car by creeping boost up than to start with it overboosted. The possibility to build the motor later is there. For now it is just a fun street driven car.

Yet it is and thanks!

Normally I dont post too much of what is going on in the shop. I generally feel that if the customer wants to share their experience then that is up to them. Up till now, that has kept us plenty busy. This car belongs to my dad however so I thought that I would share a little of what we can do in the shop. It is a 2008 Mustang GT. It started life out looking like this. http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii353/brady/Larry/pro01_01.jpg Anyone that knows me or my family will tell you that stock just does not work for us. The car came straight off the lot and into the shop. After a few days worth of work, it came out looking like this. http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii353/brady/Larry/DSC02428-1.jpg It spent the last year looking that way while we decided on which blower we wanted to run on the car. While we were down at Bristol Jack Roush was kind enough to sign the dash of the car even though it is not an actual "Roush" car and under the hood still looked like this. http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii353/brady/Larry/DSC02562.jpg http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii353/brady/Larry/DSC02451.jpg http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii353/brady/Larry/DSC02452.jpg After Jack signed the dash, we pretty much knew which blower we were going to go with. We ended up with the new 2.3 TVS. As well as a bunch of other goodies. http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii353/brady/Larry/DSC02567-1.jpg Out of the gate the TVS is pullied for around 14 lbs of boost. That is more than I really wanted to put to the car so we opted for a 25 % underdriven crank pulley to drop boost levels. http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii353/brady/Larry/DSC02569.jpg http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii353/brady/Larry/DSC02570.jpg http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii353/brady/Larry/DSC02576.jpg The underdrive pulley dropped the boost levels a little further than I was really hoping for. We ended up with an average of about 6lbs of boost and a peak of 7 lbs at 6k. In my opinion the power numbers are very impressive given the boost levels. The car ended up making 426 hp/ 383 tq. For comparison a M90 on 6 lbs shows around 360-370 hp on our dyno, so for the boost level the numbers are good. http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii353/brady/Larry/tvsvsbase-1.jpg While I am happy with the numbers the car is making on the boost levels we are seeing, I am not happy with the total power of the car. The next step is to have a custom upper pulley made to bring us closer to the 10 lb mark on the boost guage. Hopefully I can get that done before dragway 42. Overall, I am very pleased with the blower. It is a very tight fit under the hood but really fills out the engine compartment quite nicely. The blower is also very, very quiet which I like. (The older I get the quieter I like things!) The car drives really nicely and is very crisp. The torque is great and it just keeps pulling. All in all it is a really fun street car. I cant wait to up the boost and have some real fun with it.
